January 27, 20232 yr I was surprised they were doing HMV signings at all. Edited January 27, 20232 yr by Megan_
January 27, 20232 yr Why are they cancelled though? All HMV said was "Unforeseen circumstances" neither were sold-out anyway.
January 27, 20232 yr Yeah this is quite a dull listen unfortunately. I do want Sam to do well and I know they can do better, but this album just doesn't interest me. I wasn't the biggest fan of Unholy but here it sounds great in comparison! When Unholy came out I hoped Sam was moving in a more experimental direction sonically, but a lot of these songs would fit on any of their albums. At least Love Goes had the big pop bops (DWAS, HDYS?, Diamonds) and some of the slower songs there were real gems (To Die For, Kids Again).
January 28, 20232 yr "I'm Not Here To Make Friends" is a total BOP! The video is so camp too, I love it. hYjHhqLSiN4
January 28, 20232 yr Author ^ The verses are a direct copy of 'A Night to Remember'. I smell a lawsuit incoming. :kink: b80Zfk1HDWo
January 28, 20232 yr In the video I also noticed the men dancing on beds around 2.30 was almost identical to the Alejandro video.
January 28, 20232 yr They're definitely going for controversy clicks with that video. Hope Sam can stay safe, there's a lot of hateful people out there.
January 28, 20232 yr They're definitely going for controversy clicks with that video. Hope Sam can stay safe, there's a lot of hateful people out there. I haven’t seen the hateful comments myself. Though I tend to always avoid reading comments, probably for that reason. Some people must just like being horrible for the sake of it.
January 29, 20232 yr @1619441348100096005 These numbers are like Unholy never happened :/ Love Goes opened with 41k.
January 29, 20232 yr I’m not sure they will see better figures here. I’d expect maybe the same as their last album as being realistic. The follow up flopping suggests that Unholy was potentially a one off and won’t carry any momentum for the album.
January 29, 20232 yr Was surprised how dull this album was, I thought and hoped Unholy would be more reflective of the album and that there would be more sonically interesting moments. I quite like the Calvin and Jessie collab but really not fussed on the rest. I feel that’s a missed opportunity not to capitalise on the general vibe of Unholy.
January 29, 20232 yr Yep, the Guardian got it pretty much spot on in that review Bjork linked on the last page. (I do quite like Lose You though)
January 29, 20232 yr Personally I really enjoy the album. The only part I dislike is Unholy, which is odd as I didn’t mind it as a single but on the album it feels so abrasive compared to the rest of the tracks.
January 29, 20232 yr f***ing hell this album was an interminable slog to get through. Like with Love Goes, I was hoping for something better but for the most part it's just self-pitying whining to plodding coffee table music. I'd rather suture my own boils.
