February 11, 20232 yr My thoughts exactly. I'm relieved she's in the last heat. I nearly had a heart attack every week in 2012 waiting for a song that could get in the way of her path to Melodifestivalen victory (as I was so sure it was a Eurovision winner if she made it that far). I still thought Sweden would send Danny Saucedo, and to be fair that still would have been my favourite Eurovision entry of 2012 if it had gone, but I'm glad they went with the right option. Let's hope they get it right again in 2023 - assuming that her song is actually good.
February 11, 20232 yr Don't tell me Maria Sur is potentially going to stop Loreen? :drama: I very much respect her back story and everything she has been through and overcome but the song itself ticks every generic Eurovision power ballad box going. Then again, Voices won the public vote in 2021 and Bigger Than The Universe last year so the Swedes are obviously loving generic but emphatic balladry recently. February 11, 20232 yr Hmm, not good results for me. My favourites came 3rd and 4th, hope they both make the final anyway. The finalists are both completely fine in a 'we've heard this in the final every damn year for the last 10 in a row' sort of way. Wow at Wiktoria's flop :( Hardly her best track but that's cruel, imagine if it had still be the finalen or bust format. I wish she hadn't abandoned the country tinged pop.
February 11, 20232 yr Disappointed for Wiktoria and I'm surprised that Theoz didn't have it in him to go DTF in this heat but in a way going to AC is a good way to build up a big hit on streaming so it'll work out better for him in the long run. I'd like to think the Swedes will get their game face on come the final and leave Maria Sur but maybe that narrative really is catnip to televoters even in Sweden?

I suppose there's no guarantee it wouldn't do well at Eurovision. Musically it's not particularly relevant to 2023, but I have no idea how much of Ukraine winning last year was down to the song and performance, and how much was down to support for Ukraine. I do think that Ukraine's entry this year - which sounds nothing even close to a winner - and this Maria Sur song should it get through for Sweden, will be a bit unpredictable on the scoreboard for that reason.
February 11, 20232 yr yea really shocked and sad for wiktoria, but the song, styling, staging, EVERYTHING was so dated! i don't know what her team was thinking... this marina sur song is not doing anything for me either. praying for loreen to come save sweden this year
