It’s come to Christmas 2006 and i honestly don’t know where the year has gone-but i do end the year with some of the best memories and experiences of my life.

 

I started the year writing songs in a country manor in the middle of nowhere with some of my closest friends, whilst flying off to America with Richard to work over there. Almost immediately, i started my European tour which will stick in my head as one of the highlights of the last couple of years – i basically spent the early part of 2006 doing my two favourite things – touring and writing songs!

 

It came to the Summer after having finished my last tour date at the very impressive Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam – a venue i hope to play again, and was overwhelmed at the audience and the buzz i felt that night – then it was off to Bermuda for a week’s break with Geordan to watch my best friends Annie and Lewis get married on their beach. It was the most beautiful wedding – something i would have been heartbroken to miss. I then jumed stright into recording my new album "The same side" at the most beautiful country manor i have ever seen – 5 weeks of recording, being with my band, falling in love with Bubble the dog and working with a great producer, Danton, who made making my second album a very special time and experience.

 

It wasnt long before "The Same Side" was out on the shelves in Holland whilst having the great honour of being a guest of Marco Borsato at his sold out 10 date shows at the Gelredome. Meeting Marco was another Highlight of my year. I would never have predicted thatsSomeone would have such an impact on me – He became a very special friend and inspiration to me and showed generosity I have seldom seen from an artist before. I will never forget the feeling i had walking out on his stage in front of 32,000 people and hearing them sing "Breathe in" at the top of their voices – something i never thought i would have the pleasure of hearing. His concert was unforgettable, and so is Marco. My Sis Mia came on stage with me every night and to have her there with me was a very special experience for both of us; we loved every minute of it. My parents came and shed a few tears (which was then caught on camera!)

 

Doing anything after such an amazing 10 days was challenging to say the least! I was straight in to preparing for the album to come out in Spain – a place i have absolutely loved visiting also in the past two years – the Album has been received amazingly there and i am so grateful to both Dutch and Spanish fans for the way they welcomed me into their hearts. I then started my promotion in Germany and of course here in the Uk – I recorded a duet with a fantastic Band called Reamonn for release in Germany – they are a great bunch of guys and although we havent spent much time together, i have loved working with them and can’t wait to tour with them next year. Rea, the lead songer of the band, is originally from Ireland so we spent many hours chatting about his Irish background and my links to Ireland Via Geordan and his Family! Now another Irish person who is desperately tring to teach me how to drink properly! Geordy had given up!

 

My Album is going to be released in the Uk in March 2007, and although it has been tough to be patient, i am so proud of it and cant wait for people here in the UK to hear it.

 

I am spending Christmas with Geordan whilst my mum and dad will be in New Zealand – i am gutted i cannot go but there is too much stuff on here which leaves only enough time to get on a plane there and come straight back again. I am missing my sister Nikki so much but can’t wait to see her when i go over to Oz and NZ in April to promote the album.

 

So, bring on 2007… Thankyou yet again for making this an amazing year for me – my life has changed in so many ways and it is you that makes it possible. Have a wonderful xmas where-ever you are and i hope the new year brings you everything you so desire. Let next year be even better than this one – my love and thoughts are with you…here is to 2006 and what 2007 will bring.
