#10 – 39 – Wombats – Moving To New York

Performing better than their track from 2007 in this contest and also was their highest charting track officially. They haven't had a chart hit for over a decade now but still have enough of a fanbase to sell albums.

#09 – 43 – Glasvegas – Geraldine

A Scottish band who had two hits in 2008, this was the better-performing of the two in this contest. I'd never heard either of them. They are still going as a band and put out their 4th album last year although it failed to chart.

#08 – 43 – Britney Spears – Break The Ice

Taken from the album Blackout (her 5th album), her first two releases from the album were top 3 hits but this didn't perform quite so well, being at the time her lowest peaking single to date.

#07 – 44 – Sugababes – Denial

After scoring the biggest hit of their career in About You Now the Sugababes managed two decent sized top 20 hits as follow-ups. The first of these 'Change' landed at #15 in the 2007 poll and this one does a fair bit better for their final attempt in this contest.

American band Black Kids couldn't break their home country but managed to get this to hit in the UK and it seemingly has been fairly well remembered here, well its unique title does help. After a minor follow-up top 40 hit they were never heard of again.

#05 – 52 – Elbow – Grounds For Divorce

Elbow's third single to just about scrape the top 20 and have a rapid drop off, although unlike the previous two this seems to be fairly well remembered. Helped perhaps by being taken from the same album as their big sleeper hit One Day Like This. It was the era that turned Elbow into a big name in British indie and eventually helped them bag three #1 albums.

#04 – 59 – Mika – Relax, Take It Easy

75-49-20-{18}-23-24-27-30-32-30-28-39-45-56-59-70->16

The year of 2007 really belonged to Mika with him having a huge #1 hit and three follow-up top 10s. The era continued into 2008 where he'd have one more top 20 hit namely this one which was also a fairly long-running hit. One could assume it'd have been a top 10 hit if it were released earlier, and in fact it's now his second-most streamed song on Spotify behind the obvious so clearly a remembered hit. Mika had a short spike in relevance earlier this year when he presented and performed at Eurovision.

Top 3 announced after dinner. Predict!

Great placing for Relax - that’s the only Mika song I really like and I love it!

Guessing:

1 MIA

2 Paramore

3 PCD

Hopefully: 1 M.I.A., 2 Adele, 3 Paramore - but that would be a great top 3 in any order! Another strong top 10 anyway, Geraldine at 9 makes up for Daddy's Gone missing out.
Ah yes, I’d forgotten about Hometown Glory - partly because I’m not that keen on it and I much prefer Cold Shoulder!

Wonderful to see Geraldine in the top 10, I never expected it :wub: Check it out if you don't know it! A beautiful song with an unexpected twist in who it's about midway through x

Black Kids and Elbow top 10 is wonderful to see too <3

Oops forgot to vote in this one!

#03 – 75 – Paramore – Misery Business

2007: {31}-64-58R(31)-57->4

2008: {17}-50-55-73->4

Paramore's breakthrough hit on re-release took them into the top 20 for the first of two times in the decade. It led their second album 'Riot' (I didn't even know that wasn't their first album until now). The band's vocalist Hayley Williams wrote the song about then-bandmate Josh Farro. The song was more recently lovingly borrowed by Olivia Rodrigo for her #1 hit 'Good 4 U'.
