Posted December 23, 200618 yr I admit to being a big fan of them in the 80’s and 90’s. From Newcastle led by Paddy MacAloon. They wrote great pop songs like Faron Young, When love breaks down, Cars and girls, The king of rock and roll and Hey Manhattan. If you haven’t heard anything from them, then check them out. Here's a couple of vids for "Love breaks down" and " King of Rock 'n' roll ". 7m2dvkAItYk vH0HH-_mviU

December 26, 200618 yr I really liked Prefab Sprout. Paddy McAloon's band were another that the critics loved, but the public were less keen on. "Steve McQueen" (1985) was their best album. While their cheap "A Life Of Surprises - The Best Of" is an essential purchase. My fav tracks by them were When Loves Breaks Down, Goodbye Lucille #1 (Johnny Johnny), Cruel, Cars and Girls (a brilliant satire of the pompous blue collar lyrics of Bruce Springsteen songs). But best of the lot: Mq9Di71RwPc Faron Young (live in 1985)
