Yep, great to see Shishkin back to his best. Amusing that Chappers who was adamant he should run in the Champion Chase now mentioned going for the Gold Cup along with some others. Anyway it sounds like it will be the Ryanair and if all goes well he could have a crack at the Gold Cup next year as he'll only be 10.

Nicky Henderson is preparing to explore the full range of options with brilliant Ascot Chase winner Shishkin in an ambitious spring campaign, although he is likely to play things straight with the nine-year-old's next start at the Cheltenham Festival.

The dual festival hero roared back to form in the Betfair-sponsored Grade 1 on Saturday in what was his first try at 2m5f over fences, and Henderson is in full agreement with bookmakers that the intermediate trip of the Ryanair Chase will provide Shishkin with his best chance of success.

Gordon Elliott and Gigginstown House Stud's recent domination of the QuinnBet Grand National Trial continued when Coko Beach provided them with a fourth win in the past six years.

Gigginstown were certainly mob-handed in this contest, providing the top five in the handicap in the 12-runner field, and were rewarded with the first three home. A more patient ride from Ben Harvey on Coko Beach than his normal front-running role paid dividends, as the grey son of Cokoriko won for the first time since the stellar early months of 2021 when he landed the Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park and the Grade 2 Ten Up Novice Chase at Navan.

That was a cracking ride from the young man Ben Harvey on Coko Beach for Gordon Elliott, took the race by the scruff of the neck and booted home his biggest winner to date in the Punchestown Grand National.

A jockey with a very big future!!

"If I have to wait for Aintree or Punchestown, that's fine too as I don't want to rush him."

Christian Williams is eyeing either the Coral Scottish Grand National at Ayr or the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown for Kitty's Light, who overcame adversity to hand his trainer successive wins in Saturday's Vertem Eider Chase.

Successful with Win My Wings 12 months ago, Williams was on the mark again in Newcastle's £80,000 marathon chase, although Kitty's Light had to navigate an indifferent round of jumping on ground he "hated".

Flooring Porter will need to be better than ever to complete an incredible hat-trick of Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdles wins, according to big-race rider Danny Mullins.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained eight-year-old, a general 6-1 shot to emulate greats like Big Buck's and Inglis Drever by winning a third Stayers' Hurdle, has not had a perfect build-up to Cheltenham and has not won since last year's success, but Mullins hopes he will once again turn up on the day that matters most.

Cheltenham Gold Cup and dual King George VI Chase winner Kicking King has died at the age of 25.

The Irish National Stud announced the death of the immensely popular chaser on Twitter on Tuesday, calling him “a legend in every sense of the word”.

Trained by Tom Taaffe for owner Conor Clarkson, he won 12 of his 28 starts, placing on another 11 occasions.

His last win came in the 2005 King George at Sandown, where he held on bravely by a neck from Monkerhostin under Barry Geraghty, and he was not seen on the track for another 759 days due to a tendon injury.

However, he was unable to get his head back in front in a further five starts, finishing his career in 2008 after finishing a well-beaten second to War Of Attrition at Punchestown.
