March 26, 20232 yr Author Kieran Shoemark has been booked to ride leading Lincoln Handicap fancy Atrium in the traditional curtain-raiser to the start of the Flat season at Doncaster on Saturday. The general 12-1 chance was a three-time winner in the famous colours of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing last season and Shoemark was in the saddle for the first of them in a mile handicap at Ascot in May. The son of Holy Roman Emperor then enjoyed further success at Newbury in August before following up over Saturday's course and distance the following month, on which occasion he was ridden by William Buick.
April 3, 20232 yr Author Home By The Lee, Banbridge, Nusret and Fakir D'Oudairies will spearhead a powerful team for trainer Joseph O'Brien at Aintree next week. Fakir D'Oudairies will be bidding for a slice of history as he seeks to win the Grade 1 Marsh Chase for the third year in a row, eclipsing the likes of Viking Flagship, Moscow Flyer and Voy Por Ustedes, who all won it twice. The JP McManus-owned eight-year-old has already secured Grade 2 honours at Thurles this season, but was last seen finishing a remote third behind Shishkin in the Ascot Chase in February. O'Brien said: "Fakir D'Oudairies, Banbridge and Home By The Lee will all probably go to Aintree. Fakir D’Oudairies has been very good there in the last couple of years. It looks like it will be a strong race but he should go there with a live chance again.

April 4, 20232 yr Author Dashel Drasher has been restored to second place in the Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after connections won an appeal against his demotion. An independent panel ruled, after a three-hour hearing on Tuesday, that the raceday stewards were wrong in deciding the ten-year-old had interfered with Teahupoo, who finished a nose behind him. The verdict was met with immediate dismay by Brian Acheson of Robcour Racing, owners of Teahupoo, who had listened in to the hearing. He thanked the BHA's Charlotte Davison for her arguments in favour of upholding the verdict of the raceday stewards and then added: "To the three independent stewards, absolute rubbish. You want to get someone murdered." The panel had heard from Davy Russell, rider of Teahupoo, who felt he would have won the race outright had he been granted a clear run in the straight. "He keeps drifting to the left," Russell said of Dashel Drasher.
