I'm obviously super happy to see my 12-pointer winning, continuing my bellwether status here and all my top 3 in the top 10 with me *.* Some that I wish were a bit higher but it was a high quality edition and there were several I really wanted to point!

Nihiloxica and Yellow Magic Orchestra were both in my own top 4 so a shame for either of them to be denied the bronze but Nihiloxica was narrowly the better of the two for me. Does this mean that I would have finally got my first Club Bizarre top 3 if I'd been able to send them?

 

Congratulations uhsting! An interesting entry, I can see why it won even if I didn't vote for it. This has been fantastically hosted Chez, well done theme and very colorfully presented.

 

You know, I really thought 'LATHI' would do better, especially when I went on a Wiki walk and was reminded that I vaguely knew it and that it was basically one of the biggest Indonesian songs of the past few years. Good dancepop song too. And 'Grayscale' and 'C.Q.C' both deserved way better, both fantastic discoveries, thank you Dan and Cody.

 

I was really all or nothing with this entry, thank you to those that did give me enough to finish midtable, I knew it'd be quite abrasive but it IS definitely very me to be attracted to a song that is titled like itself and some of those spoken word moments really get me.

Sorry didn't show up for the results show but huge huge thank you for my first CB win after flopping all the time in the bottom 5. To win an edition of CB is an amazing experience, but to win it with an experimental dance is really something. :o I was terrified that it would flop hard and not be accessible, but it turns out it wasn't the case at all! Thank you Chez for nudging me to change back to this at the last minute :P so I could get a beautiful widget in the end slayyyyyy!

Catching up on the last few results now, yay at missing last place by a smidge! Hiperbórea gave me "weird art gallery background music" so a low result isn't super surprising.

 

Raoul K & Ganzi Mdudu deserved better but I think I voted for 8 of the top 10 so the results are serving taste tbh. Congrats to uhsting on the win!

Not that it matters now but in my defence I had the song on a Spotify playlist where it's down as "Aspara" so when I was checking nationalities etc. I arrived at this link: https://ra.co/dj/aspara hence why I put Japan. Then I just found the first YouTube link for the track - mind you I should I have spotted the mis-spelling there that's for sure.

Anyways, many congrats to uhsting. I wasn't keen on the track myself but can see why it would be a big vote hoover-upper, as the dark moody songs tend to always perform well here. :kink: fair enough, I was wondering how you made those mistakes and can understand the confusion! (Though partly vindicated with her apparently indeed also being born in Japan).

 

I wasn't (intentionally) snitching on the nationalities of every song btw haha. Apsara stood out to me because I remembered Dan sent her before to a Worldvision round representing Indonesia so was just looking up if it was the same artist! And I checked Monolithic just because it sounded much more 'Western' than all the other entries. I can't remember why I looked up Aiobahn though lol x

 

Also yay at 12th being a unique position for me :magic: only missing 11th and 14th to have a clean sweep of 4-15, iconic if I can complete that before ever coming top 3 tbh.

 

BTW I've saved my entire top 11 of this contest (so all my votes + Karyendasoul) to my shuffle playlist B-) great job just over half of you. x

Oh that 's a great result for Funk Tribu- I was surprised at the lack of South American entries tbh, the dance scene there is hot (Ela Minus, Sofia Kourtesis etc.)

 

Great to see Yellow Magic Orchestra, and Monolithic in the Top 5. I was loving all of the African entries/influences/sounds in particular here but did enjoy that Logic Lost track a lot too so it is fantastic to see that win for uhsting. Guess the theme of the next CB will have to be 'big drops'...

Great hosting and edition Chez :clap: I love how much attention South Africa got in this. (if only SA got the same love in BJSC)

 

Table Mountain I'm obviously really familiar with living in Cape Town and basically driving over it every day to get to work. But the "Hole in the Wall" brought back some cherished childhood memories of family who live nearby it. Pretty much convinced me to go visit again now so that was really fitting for my entry :wub:

Karyendasoul was a fab pick! Love him. He did an amazing remix of a track called '6 AM' by Bongi Mvuyana which was a long running smash on my chart. 'Uhuru' was decent but i'm not crazy about Azana's Shakira-like vocals. I was thinking it was Rich and Brer that sent these. Am shook.

 

As for my entry, I tried to go with something a little less traditional and more electronic / to my taste. Didn't expect a smash, but happy with top 10 and 3 12s - ty Wardy, Rollo and Dandy :wub:

 

I don't know why but I had it in my head that Kath was behind Funk Tribu (possibly because the artwork seemed familiar - TDJ also releases on the same label)

Your entry would've become my +12 if it was WUKONG's first version of the song (featuring KAKU and Ghost) that you sent. Unfortunately, it got removed from streaming platforms (mostly because of a vocal copyright). ICYDK, The original song was titled Nan Er Dang Zi Qiang by George Lam. It's a fab song, so everyone gotta check it!

 

Decided to send LATHI because it had those beautiful Javanese gamelan sounds. The Javanese lyrics also brought me to attention. Ajining diri ana ing Lathi came from old Javanese proverb Ajining diri saka lathi, ajining raga saka busana, ajining awak saka tumindak. It was my #1 song in March 2020 and surprisingly also #1 in Indonesian Spotify 2 months later, thanks to an Indian beauty vlogger Jharna Bhagwani who started the Lathi make-up challenge at TikTok.

 

Also learned that All★bySmashMouth's entry (Thanks for the 12 pts too) was that viral TikTok dance song that has been popping in my FYP since September / October last year! :cheeseblock: That remix got stuck in my head and I enjoyed it since. :dance:
