'Big Girls Don't Cry', 'With Every Heartbeat' are both highlights of 2007 for sure. Was amazing to see Robyn score a big comeback #1 with that and her follow ups were also just as good imo especially 'Be Mine'. The Christian Falk feature was a great one as well.

Aly and AJ *.* to think they're now a BJSC winner all these years later. I don't think any of their material in the past few years beats this one personally. Such a fun bop and it certainly passed me by that it topped your chart then.

I also like that Delta song too.

Agree with you there, both did well in my end of year 2007 chart. Be Mine did well for me in 2008 too. Just checked and Dream On was No.43 in my end of year 2007 chart, funny that as it's not one I go back to a lot but it is lovely.

Crikey yeah, good act they are. I agree this stands up as their best song still.

It's like blonde ladies anthem. My favourite lyrics of YVA song is obviously "Grožio Fabrikas" (Beauty Factory).

Those lyrics are certainly quite nice and charming.

How many weeks was Beautiful Song a No.1 in your chart, if it lasted to 2012? I was listening to it earlier, but it's not on Spotify, I have it on iTunes still though through the Eurovision 2012 CD.

Nothing more to say about the sublime With Every Heartbeat.

I haven’t heard Big Girls Don’t Cry for years (playing it now) but it’s beautiful and the lyrics really hit me. Looking forward to it coming up in the #2 sessions.

Completely agree, With Every Heartbeat seemed to come out of nowhere, as if it was a one-off from a random dance artist, rather than a returning teen pop star. I'm so glad she rebuilt her international career after that.

Yes there's really something lovely about it, it's always stood out to me in Fergie's discography.

How many weeks was Beautiful Song a No.1 in your chart, if it lasted to 2012?

14, I will not finish a full 2012 year and stop the chart somewhere in June-July.

There are only 4 songs, which spent 10 or more weeks on the top.

Most weeks at # 1 (1970-2012):

14 weeks : Anmary - Beautiful Song (2012)

11 weeks : YVA - Brunetes Blondines (2007)

10 weeks : Sue Wilkinson - You Gotta Be A Hustler If You Wanna Get On (1980)

10 weeks : Sinead Quinn - I Can't Break Down (2003)

Dana "All Kinds Of Everything" (1970) was the first song with 8 weeks at # 1.

Blondie "Sunday Girl" (1979) was the first song with 9 weeks at # 1.

Edited by Last Dreamer

Sinead Quinn being held off by tATu *.* I vaguely remember that song myself from that time.

On subject though expecting to see the mighty Take That appear soon :P

'Potential Break-Up Song' is such an earworm *.* and their music is still great, I loved the A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun album from 2021, it's so dreamy. The vinyl pressing that I purchased is one of the prettiest in my collection:

'With Every Heartbeat' is a massive recent highlight here too

I see. My chart finished at the end of 2015 as I recall. That's an impressive run for Anmary.

Poor Sinead, shame she didn't win Fame Academy, she was better than David Sneddon.

There will be more from Take That in this thread...

Agreed, they're still going very strong! I really enjoyed their new album too.

You thought you only had 2 years to go with this but with the forum changing its name you have to keep going :P

Hahaha, very good point, I'll consider extending it, seeing as I stopped doing it at the end of 2015 it could fit.

"Fame Academy" (Season 1) was the best British music talents TV show.

Do you remember Pippa Fulton ?

I see. My chart finished at the end of 2015 as I recall. That's an impressive run for Anmary.

Yes, but non-consecutive. "Language Of Love", "The Social Network Song" and "Primadonna" were # 1s in between.

So only YVA had 10+ weeks unbroken run on the top.

I see, my longest run ever at No.1 was 17 weeks, although the joint second longest ever is coming up.

Yes I vaguely remember Pippa from Fame Academy.

2007

17/18: Colbie Caillat - Realize (3 weeks at No.1)

One of the biggest global hits of 2007 was Bubbly by Californian singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat, but the track stiffed at No.58 in the UK despite two separate pushes here, one in 2007 and one in 2008. I first heard Colbie via MySpace in early 2007 and immediately imported her album Coco, which to this date remains in my top ten albums of all-time. Easily my favourite album of 2007, Colbie's laidback acoustic beach vibe and pensive lyrics was like a female Jack Johnson and the album just really suited my mood and what I was into at the time. Bubbly was a No.4 hit for me, while The Little Things went to No.2 but the biggest hit by far was the gorgeous (yearning for) love song Realize, which eventually reached the top 20 in the US when it received a single release in 2008 and also charted in a few European countries too.

18/18: Delta Goodrem - Believe Again (12 weeks at No.1)

Now, the final song of 2007, which hit the top in early October and never let go, forcing huge songs by Take That, Leona Lewis and Sugababes among others to peak at No.2. In This Life was a great reintroduction for Delta, but when I bought the song's parent album, the immediate standout on the (actually quite patchy) record became immediately clear - Believe Again was a mesmerising near six-minute epic (brutally cut down to size for the radio edit, which I refuse to engage with) with epic strings that bring to mind a film score.

An incredibly uplifting and melodic track, a tale of hope and encouragement that builds and builds, the song slammed in at No.1 on my chart from the first listen and took a huge effort to shift, equalling DJ Sammy's record of 12 weeks at the top with Heaven in 2002. It was eventually released as a single in Australia, where it peaked at No.2, but remains a Delta classic that regularly features in her setlists.

10 biggest faves that didn't make my top 2

Amy MacDonald - L.A.

Andreas Johnson - A Little Bit Of Love

BWO - Chariots Of Fire

Carrie Underwood - All American Girl

Colbie Caillat - Bubbly

Gwen Stefani feat Akon - The Sweet Escape

Kelis feat Cee Lo - Lil' Star

Manic Street Preachers feat Nina Persson - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough

Mika - Happy Ending

Sarah Dawn Finer - I Remember Love

*** An honourable mention for 2007 has to go to Rule The World by Take That, which stalled behind the juggernaut of Believe Again but as of today stands at No.15 in my favourite songs of all-time chart, still behind Believe Again which is all the way up at No.3. Q4 2007 was an insanely good time for music for me, with at least five or six songs that ordinarily would have topped my chart being stopped by Delta's unstoppable force. Nevertheless, in my eyes Rule The World was the crowning moment of the majestic Take That comeback - an instant classic - and it was very unfortunate to have been released on the same week as another all-time classic in Bleeding Love.

Colbie was great. Pretty sure I've heard 'Realize' but I did really like 'Bubbly' and they were super eager to make it a hit too.

Yeah I'm not sure what didn't click. It was huge everywhere, in Europe, the US, Australia, had good airplay. Weird it did nothing here.

A lot of faves in your #2's list there. BWO is sticking out like a sore thumb there though but for me in a good way as I've loved pretty much everything they put out round that time!
9. Amy MacDonald - Barrowland Ballroom (3 weeks at #2)

Interesting choice. I love the album (possibly in my all-time top 10), but from ten tracks it's my second least favourite.

Top 5 songs :

1. Let's Start A Band

2. Poison Prince

3. This Is The Life

4. A Wish For Something More

5. Run

"Youth of Today" is the weakest link.
