The questions and answers thread really makes interesting reading. I know my son and his wife will be pleased to read the bit about organics and the environment as that is the sphere that they work in and they are hot on organics, energy saving etc etc. One thing bothered me, the fact that devil in me is one of three of his favourite songs, that genre is not one of my favourites!!

yes...but I bet his favourites change..didnt he once say Girl in the moon was his favourite.

was lovely reading all he had to say

Sometimes, I think he has really bad taste. I do love 'Mercury Rising' though.

I think I was fearing an album in that sphere thats all although I do like listening to love to love but an album, no. I do see what he means as a style with the singers he mentions but on the other hand that style could be over by the time he releases.

know what you mean, I want some darius songs. so hope he does some like he has been doing..I do find Jazz genre is not my taste as a rule..I prefer songs that dont fit any genre..like songwriters who can span the ages..Elton John, Banilow etc whose songs are timeless and are just songs in their own right, not really fitting any tight genre.

I just wish we could get a listen..

What else does darius say?

Is a lot of it about the ecological problems?

Does he say anything about his own music writting? Has he done any recently?

Emotion if you go to www.dariusmusic.net under the heading Darius message Q. and A. and christmas message - you can read the questions and answers which are very varied about everything, his music etc but he is also very supportive of the problems of the environment and the whole questions and answers makes very interesting reading.

Thanks Preston, I did that yesterday but it says:

Sorry !

Some of the fans don't really understand that he's a new musician making out, not a mega star that can push record companies around.

He has to work within the economics of the world, that means his public gigs and shows have to be self-funding and if it flops then he's in trouble so such requests are pushing things a little.

Plan for a BIG COMEBACK/ world tour just like Mariah? – Ian (Malaysia)

 Come on get real.

When I was a kid I did have disillusions of going into politics, but they soon dispersed the more I became disillusioned with the politicians that run the country! They say that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely- I think that's true on the whole.

I can see Darius becoming a politian in the future. Power corrupts but it also brings the seed of it's own distruction and demise. We will be requiring honest politicians in the future and I can see Darius being a good one.

What do you think the best music comes out of - happiness or suffering? (and why?) – Trusty

Do you find it easier to write and find inspiration when you are happy or sad? – Nina

Well, the greatest art has always come from suffering, and for me that often includes music. But, you see, that poses a problem for an artist who doesn't like being sad! If Colourblind is a happy song and Live Twice is sad... I love them both but I choose the feeling of happiness over sadness.

Darius, that's just not true.

The greatest art comes from the greatest emotional energy, often that can be a negative thing like suffering, but it can also be from great joy or great love. In my view, love is the stronger.

Write those uplifting songs and don't set your stall out to only write sad songs.

You seem to have interpreted Darius' words exactly opposite to how I have e-motion, in this instance. For me, he is indicating that he prefers to write uplifting songs, and given the choice, that is what he would choose. I certainly didn't get the feeling he intended only to write sad songs, from what he has posted. Could you explain what you mean? Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you have written

Have you heard all his songs emotion, there is a long list of songs that have been released, some of them B sides which a lot of people think are the best ones. all in all quite a large number of songs, various ones are appearing on my space, chrysallis to a butterfly being one of them being which was the song he sang when he departed from Popstars, the first programme he appeared in, and the song he has reworked and was released as a B side.

:hi: Wooo, Ricky!!! We got you to join .net!!!!! :yahoo:  :P

I understand what you mean about 'greatest emotional energy'...tho, whether it's positive or negative, love or hate...a song can be uplifting. I guess often we relate to the negative more quickly because they come to us at a turbulent or unsure time in our lives and they strike a chord and help us through...so they are maybe remembered more readily?! I admit to being a sucker for a good ballad!!

Sure Darius' Live Twice album was written at a turbulent time in his life and, although it was born from negative emotions, there are uplifting songs on there too. None more so than Faith In Me or Love To Love when performed live!!!! :o :funky: And most of his songs have something to do with love of one kind or another!!

I doubt Darius will ever stick solely to ballads or sad songs....he enjoys bouncing around on a stage too much!!! :bounce: :jump:

I can't see him bouncing to the next lot.

Do you really think the next album will consist of solely one style of music Meg? You did say when we saw Darius in London last that he had been in the recording studio and he had recorded a 'beautiful' song - do you know what 'style' this is and is this 'Song X' that he speaks about? He also said that when we see him next he may not be performing in the way we are used to seeing him, so I suppose he may mean he won't be bouncing around on stage! I can't see him performing without his guitar though! - can you?!!

Just been thinking.....!! He did say that he would play RGWT at a future gig and (possibly) 'Faith in Me' - well, he would have to bounce to FIM and have the band, wouldn't he!!!

Julie

It sounds like to me as he says he is listening to a lot of Cole porter that he will be influenced by that., Many artistes out there now have done that route, he needs upbeat as well as ballads also from a performance point of view and also not to limit his audience i.e. to appeal to younger ones as well.

My mum loves that style - I don't. My daughter also likes that style. She seems to prefer music to snooze to or talk over - I want things that capture me to listen to them.

I'll probably prefer the accoustic gigs if he does songs like RGWT and Faith in Me, Now or Never with another set with a band - like he did in Maidstone.
