Another great album choice! I own this one plus their album before and after, so this was right in the middle of when my RHCP fandom was at its peak. All of the singles are excellent but Can't Stop was definitely my fave at the time! I remember loving the video too, especially the random yellow tube for some reason.

This is an album I did listen to a lot and enjoyed very much, very consistent all the way through, and it was definitely their best work, and whilst I do still occasionally listen to them, it's more passively on shuffle from playlists that I haven't removed them from than actively choosing to listen to them, largely because of who they are. I'm somewhat surprised they're still deemed as acceptable as they are given some of what they've admitted to and charges they've faced (sleeping with 14 year olds, sexual assault), maybe it's just a product of the time they're from given more recent acts get cancelled for far less, and some of the songs they've made in the past like Around The World and Catholic School Girls Rule existing is almost quite extraordinary really.

I really like the title track 'By The Way', especially the 80s New Wave style fast verses of the song.

The chorus was remixed into a good dance track, this top 40 UK hit in 2007:

Oh yes Snake, that was true I had forgotten that gem, thank you for sharing!

By The Way was the song that really got me wanting to own a Chilis album, and that album was this one! :D

2. Universally Speaking

Released in 2003 as the UK's 4th single. They split up the 4th singles between this and 'Dosed' which is still to come shortly. A decent one again.

3. This Is The Place

This is apparently about Heroin! Not a massive fave but still alright.

Didn't know this! I can't remember thinking very much of it as a song.

4. Dosed

An improvement on the last song, was released for Canada only. A nice tune this was. Would've liked it to have been a UK Single as well.

7. Can't Stop'

Most people's fave? Good reason for it really. A classic song and video. Their most streamed apparently which makes sense and today it re-entered the Spotify top 200 too so evidently backing that up!
