Wonder what He's pointing at in this one

Great picture. Apart from the floral shirt, he looks like some charismatic leader stirring up his followers, which I suppose was exactly what we witnessed him do at Lincoln that night and not just his followers; he had all the adults who'd accompanied their kids in the palm of his hand.
I am watching a documentary about Jesus on Sundays and the bloke playing Jesus looks much like Darius there, stubble and longish wild hair..Darius does have that aura about him

oh yes, i can see him in that musical now, perfect dark looks, long black tousled hair and that beard, white robes, loin clothes and a bit of suffering. he actually would make a great jesus and as I have accredited him with one miracle already ;) :D

Yes, he does have that quality about him, I suppose that's where the Cult Leader references came from in part too together with the visuals taken from his farewell song on PopStars, then there was SisterMother, the other sisters and the disciples :D and the part offer in Whistle Down the Wind too ~ it's charisma :)

I can't take to that particular Chicago picture though, everytime I look at it I think of Stingray :D

I'm not sure about Darius playing the role of Jesus- and I think that the crucifixion was more than 'a bit of suffering'

Are we talking about Jesus as in the musical Jesus christ supertar? There is no doubt that D could do this. I have seen this musical four times and each time the actor playi.ng Jesus was blonde but no matter.Donny osmonde and philip schofield have both played the part in the past. There are some great songs in this musical but it is not everyones cup of tea and is very popular with the younger people. It does have the feel good factor.

nope, Judas has to be weasel like doesnt he, as the baddy in the story, plus wouldn't want to see darius hang himself, poor old Judas,..jesus has to be sexy, charasmatic .. I think all the jesus musicals play on the sexiness. and jesus has to be dark, after all he was a palastinian arab following the jewish religion supposedly, yup can see him now, the only person I recall playing Jesus was david Essex,, he looked pretty sexy in the part, oh and Paul Nicholson..again pretty much heart throb material at the time.

If only I could find the lovely picture of darius with his hair grown long and curly and that beard from just before Chicago.

Judas would also have been dark skinned. I actually find it quite offensive that you describe the character of Jesus as 'sexy'. Charismatic, yes- that is why Mary Magdalene is so confused about her feelings for him, as he is the only man she has ever met that values her for true self.

Incidentally, Christianity owes nothing to Judas Iscariot. Even if Judas had not betrayed Jesus, then the Pharisees would have got their hands on him some way or another. You seem almost flippant about something I care very deeply about - I quote "imagine if no one had bothered giving Jesus away :D "

Not happy at all, although I daresay nobody could give a flying fig - as long as Darius isn't been slagged off then it's okay.

I made a right mess up of my post - quote

I got mixed up with the musical Joseph. Of course Jesus is dark in jesus christ superstar it was Joseph where I saw the actors who were blonde. Darius could also do Joseph and his technicolour dreamcoat, I beliieve he did it at school. It was joseph that philip schofield and donny osmonde played the part before. I did see jesus christ superstar but it did not make the impression on me that Joseph did.sorry about the mix up.

Its very feasible Darius could play both Judas and Jesus ..... I believe James Fox (Fame Academy) did a very good job of both roles (not at the same time obviously) ... he's not particularly dark skinned either. Make up works wonders these days ;)

Madame Cholet ... I give a flying fig for your views - I may not be particularly religious but I do respect and understand why you find some of the views expressed here a bit offensive. I've only "known" you for a few weeks from reading your posts, but you seem to be someone who actually speaks a lot of sense.

Donny Osmond was good in joseph, I actually think Darius would make a good Pharoah too, the man played him as an Elvis impersonater and it was quite funny, thinking back to Darius doing elvis he would be good in that part.

I was refering to the stage musicals and the actors being sexy(I don't find jesus sexy in the bible stories) I was refering to the portayals of jesus. even our school picture of jesus' portrait hanging in the hall was very handsome and all the girls loved it and swooned over it, I have no doubt some of my friends even followed religion because they were besotted with the romance of Jesus' story(in fact I know it) so perhaps sexy isn't quite the right word, its the romance. the thoughts came to mind after I watched a documentary on Jesus on Sundays, in which again, he was a very tall sexy looking man - who looked a bit like Darius which is why I was ingrossed and thought Darius would make a very good jesus on stage or film.

What he "looked like" in the bible was never decribed as far i can recall. he could have been the complete opposite to the Western romantic visions of him, and probably was.

I wouldn't like to see Darius play Judas because, never mind if he was dark, handsome whatever - he is still shunned and putting Darius into that character doesnt sit well with me.

if I sounded flippant it's probably because I say as I see. no offend intended.
