Considering she’s had 7 platinum singles in that time I’d hardly call the last 5 years a misfire

I love Carrie, but it’s definitely, definitely gone south for her since the Trump supporting anti vax stance. Denim and Rhinestones has bombed, however you want to look at it.

I love me some .Carrie, but I think Love Wins was her last song that I really loved.

Denim and Rhinestones was kinda terrible imo, I adore Carrie and have done for years but it just felt farted out like “oh this’ll do”, I haven’t really gone back to anything other than Ghost Story and even then that was hardly on loop repeat for me. Cry Pretty was such a great album then she lost her way a bit with the gospel and Christmas albums and now D&R. Out Of That Truck is solid but needs to grow on me a bit more.

I thought D&R is her best album since Blown Away. Cry Pretty had its moments but a lot I never returned to. I agree re the gospel and Christmas albums.

I agree with this! Cry Pretty isn't miles behind D&R for me but both are better than Storyteller (and My Gift / My Savior). Was quite shocked by how Denim & Rhinestones performed in the chart in the US, a stark comedown.

 

This is pretty good, nothing new for Carrie but a strong, catchy track.
