Thanks to the 53 people who participated in last week's poll :jump: (matching week 1 as the highest to date, hooray!)

Official results from week 10:

[ 34 ] Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her (#59)

[ 20 ] Fred again.., The Streets and Dermot Kennedy - Mike (desert island duvet) (#78)

[ 17 ] Mimi Webb - Freezing (#73)

[ 15 ] Halsey - Die 4 Me (#85)

[ 11 ] MK and Dom Dolla - Rhyme Dust (#63)

[ 10 ] Morgan Wallen - Last Night (#92)

[ 9 ] Nicki Minaj - Red Ruby Da Sleeze (#30)

[ 8 ] j-hope and J. Cole - on the street (#37)

[ 4 ] Don Toliver - Private Landing (feat. Justin Bieber and Future) (#74)

[ 4 ] Metro Boomin, Travis Scott and Young Thug - Trance (#96)

[ 3 ] Unknown T and Knucks - Right Hand (#70)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 10 and auto-qualifying for the March monthly round is Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her.

10 weeks in we finally have a winner from a country other than the UK or the USA, as Swedish popstar Zara Larsson takes the victory with 'Can't Tame Her', the first single from a yet-to-be-named forthcoming 4th studio album (3rd in the UK). The song dropped a few weeks back, initially failing to make a dent on the top 100 but suddenly springing into life now to notch a top 60 debut and inching closer to the top 40 with continued gains on streaming since. The song marks her hopping firmly on the bandwagon of 80s-esque synth heavy pop, a sound spearheaded in the mainstream by the likes of The Weeknd and Dua Lipa in recent years. Zara's belated debut won the approval of nearly 2/3 of voters. (For me personally it's only the second poll winner to date that I didn't vote for but can't win every time!)

In a distant second place, 14 votes behind but still reaching an impressive 20 votes is former poll winner Fred again.. alongside The Streets (with his first chart single since 2008) and Dermot Kennedy. 4 further songs crack double figures, with Mimi Webb's album focus track in 3rd place, Halsey's new solo rework of an old Post Malone track she featured on coming 4th, MK and Dom Dolla in 5th and somehow a whole 10 people saw fit to check the box of approval next to Morgan Wallet's freshly minted US #1 for him to come 6th - Luke Combs could never! Three songs fall short of 5 votes with my own favourite of the week from Unknown T and Knucks mustering just 2 other voters to limp in last place, I do be out of touch this time x

Weekly winners to date:

01 // 12/01/23 // Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

02 // 19/01/23 // Skrillex, Fred again.. and Flowdan - Rumble

03 // 26/01/23 // Miley Cyrus - Flowers

04 // 02/02/23 // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

05 // 09/02/23 // P!nk - TRUSTFALL

06 // 16/02/23 // RAYE - Ice Cream Man.

07 // 23/02/23 // Linkin Park - Lost

08 // 02/03/23 // Lana Del Rey - A&W

09 // 09/03/23 // Gorillaz - Silent Running (feat. Adeleye Omotayo)

10 // 16/03/23 // Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her

Qualified for the yearly round:

January // Bizarrap and Shakira - Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 / Miley Cyrus - Flowers / Sub Focus and Dimension - Ready To Fly

February // revealed in next post

Qualified for the playoff for the yearly round:

January // Fall Out Boy - Love From The Other Side

February // revealed in next post

Another 10 songs to peruse this week totalling 30 minutes and 8 seconds, including Miley Cyrus providing the first particularly notable 'album bomb' of the year (though only 2 newies instead of 3 due to the ongoing presence of 'Flowers'). A few potential options for the song that I'll judge people most for voting for. Only one option for who is obviously going to win.

Also interesting to note that the majority of the debuts this week were actually in the top 40 (and an even larger majority in the top 50), seems quite unusual!

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

You have until Saturday evening ish as usual :jump:

And here are the results from the February monthly round... (btw thank you to all who voted in that, 29 votes this time which is 2 more than in the January round hooray!)

Unfortunately it is the end of the road for these:

10 104 Rita Ora - You Only Love Me

9 118 Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez - I'm Not Here To Make Friends

8 124 Niall Horan - Heaven

7 167 beabadoobee - Glue Song

6 170 RAYE - Ice Cream Man. (no 12s)

5 170 Paramore - Running Out Of Time (1 12)

Still in with a chance of making the final for the year is...

4 175 Linkin Park - Lost

Which means our next 3 guaranteed spots in the yearly round go to Freya Ridings, Lana Del Rey and P!nk :cheer: It's a clear cut trio progressing to the yearly round, with Lana in third place 31 points clear of the rest of the pack, Freya squeaking 2nd 6 points ahead and P!nk perhaps unsurprisingly racing ahead, leading by 24 points. But a closer scrap for the playoff position with Linkin Park taking it in a four-way battle with Paramore, RAYE and beabadoobee all within just 8 points of each other.

Interestingly our 6 confirmed yearly round qualifiers all have exclusively female vocals, while the two playoff qualifiers both have exclusively male vocals.

3 206 Lana Del Rey - A&W

2 212 Freya Ridings - Weekends

1 236 P!nk - TRUSTFALL

Calvin/Ellie and Mae Muller for me this week. 'River' is alright but doesn't quite live up to the hype for me.

Just a small request - if it's not too much trouble, when you post the results each week, would it be possible to list them in order of number of votes?

Sure I can do (although I'll need to go edit all the previous threads too so the sudden change doesn't annoy me forever x will do some time soon)
TV Girl - Lovers Rock was a nice surprise. Voted for Jaded instead of River as I feel it is the much better track of the two.

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding - Miracle (#3) - brilliant track, certain to be a highlight of the year

Miley Cyrus - River (#16) - nice song, very funky!

Digga D - Energy (#19) - good flow to it but it's inessential

Miley Cyrus - Jaded (#27) - not a standout from her, bit too ploddy

Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song (#30) - ...that wasn't very good :basil: back to flopping for the UK this year then

ArrDee and Cat Burns - Home For My Heart (#35) - how do you spell wallpaper music

Meghan Trainor - Mother (#42) - catchy but lacks the charm of her usual releases

D-Block Europe - 1 On 1 (#48) - how did it go again?

NF - MOTTO (#73) - not as good as his previous song here but still very good, am I becoming an NF fan?

TV Girl - Lovers Rock (#84) - a fascinating track this one, more a fan of the production than vocals but it's a thumbs up from me

Top 2 and bottom 2 get my votes.

voted for mae cos i wrote a song is a certified bop x miracle and home for my heart are decent, but i dont like them enough to give them a vote. and both of mileys ones are bottom half of ESV and both are skips. DBE and Mother are instant no's , NF is alright but the only one of his ive actually liked is let you down. so just mae getting a vote from me!

1. Miley Cyrus - River

2. Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song

3. D-Block Europe - 1 On 1

4. Digga D - Energy

5. Meghan Trainor - Mother

6. TV Girl - Lovers Rock

7. Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Miracle

8. NF - Motto

9. Miley Cyrus - Jaded

10. ArrDee & Cat Burns - Home For My Heart

I've voted for the top 4 in the end. I've never really been a big fan of Miley but I really enjoyed 'River'. Mae Muller's track was better than I was expecting based on the clips I had heard previously. '1 On 1' is the same as ever from D-Block but I'm enjoying the chill instrumental and Dirtbike's verse is one of his better efforts. 'Energy' is a nice change-of pace from Digga's more recent stuff too.

I usually hate Meghan Trainor's stuff but I actually find 'Mother' to actually be quite fun. :kink: I find it a lot better than 'Made You Look' at least. It feels a lot more knowing than most of her work, like she's actually in on the joke this time.

I find the topic of the NF track to be a but cringy but the actual rapping is fine I guess. Jaded and Home For My Heart are both just really dull.

Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song (#30)

Miley Cyrus - Jaded (#27)

Miley Cyrus - River (#16)

ArrDee and Cat Burns - Home For My Heart (#35)

Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding - Miracle (#3)

02. Miley Cyrus - River (#16)

03. TV Girl - Lovers Rock (#84)

04. Miley Cyrus - Jaded (#27)

05. Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song (#30)

06. ArrDee and Cat Burns - Home For My Heart (#35)

07. NF - MOTTO (#73)

08. Digga D - Energy (#19)

09. D-Block Europe - 1 On 1 (#48)

10. Meghan Trainor - Mother (#42)

Just voted for Calvin and Ellie this week. Happy that Lana made the top 3 of the February monthly round!
