Released 29th January

Let us introduce you to Just Jack. A musical maverick, talented DJ and sparkling wordsmith, this North London native is one of the UK's most strikingly original artists. Just Jack's LP 'Overtones' is neither bound by musical restrictions nor the notional idea of cool, he's taken the sum of his individual influences and turned them into a unique, genre-hopping sound. Produced by Jack and Jay Reynolds, who co-produced his critically acclaimed 2003 debut 'The Outer Marker', the new album is an intoxicating, irrepressible combination of hip-hop, disco, house and funk. Infused with Jack's bright charismatic snap and lyrical spin, it's just shamelessly good music.

Well he's obviously gonna be massive in 2007 but I don't know just how big he will end up being.

It is very Streets esque but a lot better as at least the guy has a much better sounding voice that Mike Skinner

I haven't bought the album yet but it's one that I shall get in the next few weeks hopefully, the 2 singles taken from it are great so it bodes brilliantly for the album itself. :D

Hmmmm, well the album does sound quite samey in places and theres only 1 or 2 tracks that could pass for upbeat like Starz In Their Eyes, but I think Writer's Block is better anyways

Don't let that deter you though, it's good

And also, have you noticed that woman's voice on Writer's Block sounds just like the girl from The Peep Show? :o

I will still get the album anyway as I think Just Jack seems like a great talent. :) I've never actually watched The Peep Show but I definitley will do when it's next on. ^_^

I've only listened to this the once and it didn't sound as good in full as when I heard it on itunes.

I shall give it another listen but tbh I much prefer the Jamie T and Klaxons album.

Yeah, I sampled it on Itunes and it sounded more up-tempo for some reason :( It's more like a chill-out LP

Jamie T has got some good tracks but I've only for the singles for now. But from what I've heard Back In The Game and Operation sound intense

Yep it did sound more up-tempo on itunes. :( Some of the tracks just seem to go on forever and they bore me a little bit tbh. :(

Jamie T's album is amazing. He's an artist though that you either love or hat, but his album is one of the best i've heard in a while. So Loney Was The Ballad is the best track IMO. :D ^_^

i thought Writer's Block was one of the worst records of last year. starz actually alright.

however a number of reviews have said even though its ecclectic with hiphop and electrohouse stylings there is a stong feeling of jazz-funk and mentions of acid jazz, the stereo mcs and galliano. and all that jazz-funk bollocks is like evil.

even though bbc4's soul britania is an alright show showing the history of britsoul etc

that soul britania on later spin-off. what a load of noodling c**p.

even worse than smooth fm
