Singles

Australia loved the Top Ten singles and artists of last week so much they refused to get rid of any of them this week! In particular, man of the moment, Damien Leith continues his assault on the chart, with Night of My Life stationed at #1 again. Meanwhile, Shannon Noll and Natalie Bassingthwaighte make an impressive five leaps on the chart, as their rendition of Don't Give Up moves up from #7 to #2. Akon and Beyonce , refuse to budge as Smack That and Irreplaceable claim the #3 and #4 places respectively. Glam-rockers, the Scissor Sisters move down a few spots, with I Don't Feel Like Dancin' sliding in at #5. Pop princesses Gwen Stefani and Sandi Thom continue their run on the chart. Gwe n wonders into #6 with Wind It Up , while Sandi Thom 's single, I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) eases into the #7 spot. Rounding up the Singles Chart for this week are Justin Timberlake and Fergie , with My Love and Fergalicious coming in at #8 and #9 respectively. Lastly, the Hume brothers of Evermore move up a place and shine on at #10 with Light Surrounding You

FUNKY TONIGHT

Artist: John Butler Trio Position: No.15

Led by vocalist, guitarist and social activist, John Butler, The John Butler Trio have made their mark on the Australian music circuit thanks to chart favourites, Zebra (#22 Feb. ‘04) and Something's Gotta Give (#48 Dec.'04). In 2001, the band's album, Three won an ARIA for Best Independent Release and have since emerged as a force to be reckoned with. Funky Tonight features production credits from Mario Caldato, who was also worked with The Beastie Boys and Jack Johnson.

Albums

Our Top 10 certainly are a resilient bunch! There's not a single new entry in sight, as last week's Top 10 shuffle up and down the chart and battle amongst themselves for this week's positions. Our new favourite Idol, Damien Leith comes in at #1, proving his Winner's Journey is still alive and kicking. Aussie larrikin and last week's chart topper, The 12 th Man settles for #2 with Boned!, followed by rock super-group, U2, with U218 Singles stationed at #3. The almighty P!nk deserves an honorable mention, as I'm Not Dead continues its onslaught and comes in at #4, after a staggering 37 weeks on the chart! Meanwhile, the lads from Human Nature and Snow Patrol each move up a spot, with Dancing In The Street: The Songs of Motown II and Eyes Open coming in at #5 and #6 respectively. Pop-opera superstars, Il Divo remain at #7 with Siempre , while the Young Divas move up a spot, as their self-titled debut comes in at #8. Finally, two of Britain 's biggest musical exports, The Beatles and Robbie Williams take out the final two places, as Love and Rudebox come in at #9 and #10 respectively.

SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM

Artist: Sneaky Sound System Position:No.76

Sydney's consummate party trio, Sneaky Sound System makes their debut on the chart with their almighty self-titled album. Released in August this year, the band's first offering charted just outside the Top 100 and was one of dance music's best kept secrets, until now that is! 2006 has been a stellar year for the threesome, with various accolades including ARIA Award nominations for Best Dance Release and Breakthrough Artist (Single) for their quintessential party anthem, I Love It (#25 Jul. '06). Most recently, the band scored the coveted gig of supporting pop heavyweight, Robbie Williams during his Close Encounters tour.
