I think we all know GA need the publicity ... the more there in the press, the more singles/albums they sell!! It is all an attention grabbing thing to make sure they sell more!! And frankly its boring!! Cheryl should learn when to speak and when not to ... if they made an effort, they'd be respected more musically but until then all they are is puppets for the record company!! -_-

The All Saints album may have been c**p but at least they wrote it and were proud of their work!! Can GA say that?!!

Love,

Kirsty xx

At the beginning, Cheryl only said that "Rock steady" sounds like a GA song, nothing more! That's not what I call slaging off someone!! That's not nasty, just her point of view about a song, she didn't say it's $h!t or summirt, she only said it sounds like a GA song, that's all.

Then the AllSaints responded by insulting the girls and childish stuff like that. So calm down about the girls please...

That's my general view on them also :D

To be honest, this whole Girls Aloud/All Saints 'rivalry' is more of a media construct and a bit of clever marketing and public relations which is benefitting both acts.. I remember back in the days of Britpop when you had "Blur Vs Oasis", I think we can all look back at that and see it for what it was - PR.... This smacks of the same thing in my opinion.... I mean, the fact that we're all talking about it and debating it kinda proves the point dunnit....

These groups are thriving on our attention, if we all just ignored them, they'd both go away.....

Yeah I agree about the attention.

Girls Aloud front songs produced by Xenomania - just because its fronted by GA doesnt mean Xenomania are c**p. Their music has been described by the Guardian as innovative and NME, Q, various music critics.

Funny how everyones saying Never Ever is All Saints best song, which it is a great song...but no ones saying I Know Where Its At...which is a pop song i n the vain of Girls Aloud which is what people could compare surely...and frankly isn't any better than any Girls Aloud songs because it's just a pop song.

As for writing songs:

Never ever have I ever felt so low

When you gonna take me out of this black hole?

Never ever have I ever felt so sad

The way I'm feeling yeah, you got me feeling really bad

Thats supposed to be better than Girls Aloud lyrics is it? I'm not saying GA lyrics are better but they aren't worse than that example.

So what should Girls Aloud come out with their version of 'Never Ever' then they'll get respect? Whole Lotta History was a fab song but at the end of the day Love Machine, Biology, Something Kinda Oooh have all made and left a mark and are amazing songs! I'm not saying All Saints dont do that at all just Girls Aloud music is fantastic and because they dont write it doesnt mean it's c**p.

It's the best Uk pure pop music we've seen in years and if GA continue to be arrogant about it then it might put me off, I do think they had to have a comeback in this particular case though.

If a few stupid quotes, elaborated by the press can effect the music that they produce, then thats pretty sad.

Oh no not the music, as I stated I have always been a fan of Girls Aloud's music and I will continue to be. I meant my perspective on the girls themselves. ;)

GA should watch what they are saying they are giving themselves a bad name  oh well

I loved the recent All Saints album. Such a shame it bombed, I hope it picks up but I can't see it unless 'Chick Fit' performs miracles.

I think the spoof is quite funny.

I still like Girls Aloud's music, but as people I'm liking them less and less. I'm not even bothered if they want to get into stupid b**ch fights with rival groups, but I'm getting so bored with hearing about how they've had more top 10 hits than XXX, and therefore are the biggest and best girl band in history. It's such obvious media manipulation, and there's no need for it.

Thing is they may be hot sh!t over this side of the pond, but how well are they doing in the States, Asia or Continental Europe....? UK is a tiny, insignificant market in the grand scheme.... The Beatles, for example, were huge in America, as were The Supremes... Are GA cracking those other huge markets...? This is a genuine question by the way....

UK is the 3rd largest market of the world, and it's getting stronger while the US one is on the lane (for Christmas the UK#1 album sold MORE than the US#1 album  ), so saying that the UK is an "insignificant market" is kinda LOOL!

Then I'm sure they'd love to try it in other countries, but it seems the record company has no plan to do it, and will never have. And could you say me one non-US POP act who managed to crack the US lately? Natasha Bedingfield did it, it took her about 1,5 years there to have a top5 hit and to sell about 700.000 albums... I don't think the record company wants GA to be out of the UK for that long time when they can easily release a platinium album (double-platinium this year lol) and 4 top10 hits here every year in their home country. In 9 weeks GA have sold in the UK what Natasha Bedingfield did in over 1 year in the US, so it's obvious that the record company won't spend money to send the girls on holiday in LA. lol

BUT I agree with you about Continental Europe. They could definately do it with a decent promotion. ^_^

UK the third largest market..?? You sure about that..? I cant see it being bigger than Asia - India and China alone make up over 2 billion people to UK's 59 million... Also factor in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, etc.....

I'm talking about the UK on its own, not lumped in with the rest of Europe...

Yeah UK is the third largest CD market after USA and Japan (and talking about Japan, it's mainly japonese music sold there).

Of course there're more people in China, but there are more CDs sold in the UK than in China.

I thought Germany was bigger these days. US and Japan are way ahead, then UK, Germany, France, Spain etc are all at a similar level. The individual Asian countries (bar Japan) have lower sales, but if an artist has world-wide success, the % of sales from the UK is lower.

Girls Aloud have had minor hits outside the UK, but it never picked up momentum, and I don't think the label thought they were going to get a good enough return. They do well enough in the UK, and there is nothing wrong with that, but Sugababes and All Saints and even Atomic Kitten all had worldwide success, so it's wrong for them to claim they are bigger than them.

If you're watching all their interviews (what I am doing  ), they have never said that they are bigger than the Supremes, the Sugababes or anyone else (except the AllSaints lately lmao), ... but everytime the journalists says "so you've got the record of top10 hits in the UK, more than any other girl bands bla bla", so all they say is "yeah that's true". They never talk about it by themselves, and above all they NEVER say that it makes them better than other bands, really. ;)
