Thanks to the 49 people who participated in last week's 2 weeks ago's poll :jump:

Official results from week 15:

[ 18 ] David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray - Baby Don't Hurt Me (#26)

[ 16 ] Jack Black - Peaches (#47)

[ 16 ] Jonas Brothers - Waffle House (#89)

[ 15 ] Labrinth - Never Felt So Alone (#43)

[ 10 ] NF - HAPPY (#51)

[ 9 ] TECH IT DEEP - Maria Maria (#92)

[ 8 ] Drake - Search & Rescue (#5)

[ 8 ] Kanii - I Know (PR1SVX Edit / original) (#64)

[ 6 ] Sidhu Moose Wala, Burna Boy and Steel Banglez - Mera Na (#87)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 15 and auto-qualifying for the April monthly round is David Guetta, Anne-Marie and Coi Leray - Baby Don't Hurt Me.

Maybe democracy was a mistake. For a third poll in a row nothing managed to reach the 20 vote mark (slim pickings in recent weeks), although this week a bit over half of the list did make it to 10 votes at least. Another new nationality is added to the list of winners with French DJ superstar David Guetta coming out on top, in collaboration with the UK's Anne-Marie and the USA's Coi Leray. His latest single has seen him look at the success of 'I'm Good (Blue)' and just do the same thing again desecrating another 90s dance classic, this time Haddaway's 'What Is Love', managing a low top 30 debut but on the rise since so may yet prove to be another major hit in his lengthy career. At least this one is not as bad as 'I'm Good (Blue)'. It picked up 18 votes which is a few more than Tyler's win in the previous week but still the second lowest number of votes for a poll winner so far.

In joint second place, two votes behind Guetta, we have Tenacious D legend Jack Black delivering vocal slayage on his power ballad ode to Princess Peach (in character as Bowser) from The Super Mario Bros. Movie, alongside the latest Jonas Brothers single which appeased their fanbase a bit more than their single before that by at least cracking the 2 minute mark in runtime. One further vote behind is Labrinth (with uncredited assistance from Billie Eilish) in 4th place, while NF comes in 5th with more votes than both of his previous top 100 hits of the year got in their polls combined, maybe because this one almost passes for a song that might be of interest to people other than NF stans. My saltiness continues as the song in last place with 6 votes was the only one I actually voted for, the posthumous cut from Sidhu Moose Wala with contributions from Burna Boy on vocals and Steel Banglez on production. I can only assume people were accidentally voting in reverse x

After falling behind a bit (again) my latest plan to get back up to speed was to just hold off on the week 16 poll and put it together with week 17. Due to BuzzJack's inability to let you take part in a 2 section poll without voting in both, I've added a couple of extra options to each poll - the first is the equivalent of a 'null vote' (i.e. if you want to actively vote that none of the songs are worthy of a vote), the second is just there if you only have the time / interest to take part in one of the two polls for whatever reason (I'll take any votes for this option off the total vote count for calculation purposes). Of course if you don't feel like any of the songs in either poll are worthy of a vote you can also just click 'null vote' on the poll as a whole. Hope that makes sense xx

Anyways, both weeks up for voting have 9 songs this time, totalling 27 minutes and 56 seconds for the first week and 30 minutes and 16 seconds for the second week (the usual playlist below contains both weeks for a total of 58 minutes and 12 seconds). I've decided to only include the Nicki Minaj version of 'Princess Diana' as the song's chart success is overwhelmingly based on that version even though the OCC don't credit Nicki, of course if you happen to greatly prefer the original you can still vote based on that. Anyone who I've previously judged for their votes I will forgive on the condition they don't vote for HStikkytokky here.

Vote for as many or as few songs as you want and would be ideal if you can make sure you've heard all the songs before voting if possible!

I'm going to trial moving the deadlines for these to Sunday evening instead of Saturday, I think that may work better for me. Hopefully normal service will actually resume after this double fantasy poll :jump: These two polls complete the (somewhat lacklustre) intake for April so I'll get the next monthly round up hopefully on Sunday evening as well.

And here are the results from the March monthly round... (with thanks to the 24 people that voted in that, a bit down from turnout in the previous 2 but still solid enough x)

Unfortunately it is the end of the road for these:

10 78 KAROL G and Shakira - TQG

9 100 Mae Muller - I Wrote A Song

8 118 Hozier - Eat Your Young

7 119 RAYE - Flip A Switch.

6 130 Lana Del Rey - Paris, Texas (feat. SYML)

5 148 Gorillaz - Silent Running (feat. Adeleye Omotayo)

Still in with a chance of making the final for the year is...

4 150 Miley Cyrus - River

Which means our next 3 guaranteed spots in the yearly round go to Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding, Nothing But Thieves and Zara Larsson :cheer: There was only one song ever winning here, Calvin and Ellie a full 50 points clear in 1st place (actually getting 3 more points than the January winner despite 3 fewer voters overall). I expected Zara to join them in a runaway top 2, she did indeed come 2nd but actually surprisingly just 2 points ahead of Nothing But Thieves who are proving to be somewhat of a dark horse, they secure the first song with male vocals to be guaranteed to appear in the yearly round.

Miley Cyrus falls short of being the first artist with 2 guaranteed spots in the yearly round but does have 'River' making the playoff (just holding off Gorillaz by 2 points) for a chance to join 'Flowers' in the final. That's a bit of an overperformance as she was only 8th for the month based on the results of the weekly polls. Likewise Nothing But Thieves had an improvement from 5th to 3rd, though Calvin/Ellie and Zara were the top 2 by either measure.

3 165 Nothing But Thieves - Welcome To The DCC

2 167 Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her

1 217 Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding - Miracle

I edited this into the OP of the last thread earlier this evening but to avoid bumping the thread, here's my late spiel about the week 14 results if anyone wants to read it:

Thanks to the 43 people who participated in last week's poll :jump:

Official results from week 14:

[ 15 ] Tyler, The Creator - DOGTOOTH (#39)

[ 14 ] Tyler, The Creator - SORRY NOT SORRY (#63)

[ 10 ] Maisie Peters - Lost The Breakup (#92)

[ 9 ] Melanie Martinez - VOID (#44)

[ 9 ] Davido - UNAVAILABLE (feat. Musa Keys) (#60)

[ 9 ] ANOTR and Abel Balder - Relax My Eyes (#83)

[ 8 ] JISOO - FLOWER (#38)

[ 6 ] Cat Burns - live more & love more (#95)

[ 5 ] Cian Ducrot - Part Of Me (#87)

[ 5 ] NLE Choppa - SLUT ME OUT (#100)

BuzzJack's favourite top 100 hit for 2023 week 14 and auto-qualifying for the April monthly round is Tyler, The Creator - DOGTOOTH.

A week after Lana took advantage of a low scoring week to monopolise the top 2 of the week for herself, we have an even more extreme repeat of that as American rapper, former Odd Future edgelord Tyler, The Creator benefits from a week devoid of any major BuzzJack faves to come both 1st and 2nd with songs from the newly released 'Estate Sale' deluxe edition of his 2021 album 'CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST'. 'DOGTOOTH' was released as a single a few days ahead of the rest of the new tracks dropping and just about managed to give him his 4th top 40 hit in its first full week of availability. It takes the win here with just 15 votes (barely over a third of voters), 1 vote ahead of his other charting deluxe track 'SORRY NOT SORRY', the album closer which has also been given a music video. Both songs are bangers imo - as is most of what he drops - so I'm glad the luck of the draw gave them the opportunity to do so well here ('DOGTOOTH' becoming the first outright hip-hop song to win one of these polls, though 'Rumble' also featured prominent rap vocals), although I'm pleasantly surprised they got this many votes even with the lack of competition. Could see 'DOGTOOTH' now becoming the first song to make it to a monthly round due to its autoqualifier status while not actually being in the top 10 of the month.

Maisie Peters has the only other song to (just about) reach double figures, coming in 3rd place with this new track that's returned her to her comfortable place in the 41-100 section after 'Body Better' failed to chart at all despite being the only one of her recent singles that's actually somewhat listenable. Everything managed to get to at least 5 votes again with the joint least most popular songs being peak radio filler from Cian Ducrot and peak radio kryptonite from NLE Choppa. Perfectly balanced as all things should be.

I also didn't bother to bump the last two threads with my belated votes/ratings but here they are for completeness (minus commentary as it's taken me this long to catch up without that, will probably return to that this week).

Week 14:

1 'SORRY NOT SORRY' 9.5/10

2 'DOGTOOTH' 8.5/10

3 'Relax My Eyes' 8/10

4 'UNAVAILABLE' 8/10

5 'SLUT ME OUT' too hilariously audacious to rank below the rest of these mid songs/10

6 'Part Of Me' 5/10

7 'FLOWER' 5/10

8 'VOID' 4/10

9 'live more & love more' 2.5/10

10 'Lost The Breakup' 2/10

Week 15:

1 'Mera Na' 8/10

2 'I Know' 7/10 - liked the remix very slightly more but same score for both

3 'Waffle House' 7/10

4 'Never Felt So Alone' 7/10

5 'Peaches' don't think this really makes sense out of context but ikonek on principle/10

6 'Maria Maria' 6/10

7 'HAPPY' 5.5/10

8 'Search & Rescue' 1.5/10

9 'Baby Don't Hurt Me' 1/10

(voting for the top 4 in week 14 and just Sidhu in week 15, dangerously close to null vote territory)

2nd Poll:

Best Tracks:

1) Tyler, The Creator - See You Again (feat. Kali Uchis) | 10/10 (Believe me when I say that this is one of my favourite songs of all time, it also is a rare occurrence for a song as it has constant 6 year replay value.)

2) The Weeknd - Double Fantasy (feat. Future) | 9.5/10 (On a normal week, The Weeknd would be destroying this poll)

3) Nines - Tony Soprano 2 | 9/10 (What A Comeback!)

Edited by Y'all Starlight

Went for Taylor & Sigala/Mae/Caisy/Stefflon in the first poll and then just Kim & Nicki in the second.
2) The Weeknd - Double Fantasy (feat. Future) | 9.5/10 (On a normal week, The Weeknd would be destroying this poll)

Week 17

1. Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj - Alone

2. Tyler, The Creator - See You Again (feat. Kali Uchis)

3. The Weeknd - Double Fantasy (feat. Future)

4. Nines - Tony Soprano 2

5. Florence + The Machine - Mermaids

6. Agust D - Haegeum

7. Rudimental, Charlotte Plank and Vibe Chemistry - Dancing Is Healing

8. Ed Sheeran - Boat

9. HStikkytokky and General G - Twust

Going for my top 4 for this week. I'm happy to see Kim get a hit of her own and think it's a banger. 'See You Again' is definitely the most memorable track off Flower Boy (aside from Maybe 'Who Dat Boy'') so I'm fully here for it's belated success. 'Double Fantasy' is definitely one of the least exciting Weeknd tracks but it's still has his usual quality and 'Tony Soprano 2' is not Nines' best but has some nice punchlines.

'Twust' might be one of the most embarrassing songs to ever reach the charts.

Mind blown by the awfulness of that previous result. Are you for real buzzjack?!

Poll #1:

01. David Kushner - Daylight (#3)

02. Jorja Smith - Try Me (#60)

03. Post Malone - Chemical (#11)

04. Lewis Capaldi - Wish You The Best (#1)

05. Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana (#22)

06. Strandz - J'Adore (#59)

07. Jazzy - Giving Me (#98)

08. Sigala, Mae Muller and Caity Baser - Feels This Good (feat. Stefflon Don) (#93)

09. Taylor Swift - Karma (#68)

Just voted for David Kushner in this first poll. I'm usually a Taylor fan but I find the lyrics for 'Karma' really jarring  (flop cat lady, I know)

Poll #2:

01. Tyler, The Creator - See You Again (feat. Kali Uchis) (#36)

02. The Weeknd - Double Fantasy (feat. Future) (#14)

03. Florence + The Machine - Mermaids (#95)

04. Nines - Tony Soprano 2 (#11)

05. Agust D - Haegeum (#77)

06. Ed Sheeran - Boat (#46)

07. Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj - Alone (#37)

08. Rudimental, Charlotte Plank and Vibe Chemistry - Dancing Is Healing (#66)

09. HStikkytokky and General G - Twust (#21)

Voted for both Tyler/Kali and The Weeknd/Future in this poll.

Week 16

Lewis Capaldi - Wish You The Best (#1) - better ballad than pointless but still unmemorable

David Kushner - Daylight (#3) - nope. given this a few chances but it's complete musical garbage

Post Malone - Chemical (#11) weak song. i dislike this direction for him, need more goodbyes/better nows please

Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj - Princess Diana (#22) - beat is good but sadly ice spice is just a shit rapper, so this sucks

Strandz - J'Adore (#59) - this has a nice flow to it, prefer it to us against the world

Jorja Smith - Try Me (#60) - this had potential but needed a stronger hook. video better than song also

Taylor Swift - Karma (#68) - sonically similar to style this one, passable

Sigala, Mae Muller and Caity Baser - Feels This Good (feat. Stefflon Don) (#93) - rap part is totally needless (like all stefflon's features) but otherwise this is a fun lively bop

Jazzy - Giving Me (#98) - lush organ house production (need more of that in the charts) and strong vocals make this the clear highlight of this week

Voted Strandz, Sigala et al & Jazzy.

Week 17

Nines - Tony Soprano 2 (#11) - this is very strong rap, shame it missed top 10

The Weeknd - Double Fantasy (feat. Future) (#14) - another great weeknd vocal, quite the earworm

HStikkytokky and General G - Twust (#21) - reminds me of that joe weller track from years ago, not much to see here

Tyler, The Creator - See You Again (feat. Kali Uchis) (#36) - this one is a bit messy, it's a miss from me

Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj - Alone (#37) - BRAVE sample choice but i actually quite like this, very good vocal delivery

Ed Sheeran - Boat (#46) - very mid song, not a surprise this didn't make the top 40

Rudimental, Charlotte Plank and Vibe Chemistry - Dancing Is Healing (#66) - nice to see Rudi going back to their DnB roots

Agust D - Haegeum (#77) - the BTS alumni invasion really is here now then, what a heap of shite this song is

Florence + The Machine - Mermaids (#95) - standard florence fodder

Voted Nines, Weeknd, Kim & Rudi.
