I am hugely shocked and angry :o  that ABBA isn't up there compared to Whitney Houston, Mariah carey, The supremes,Whitney houston, janet jackson and Stevie Wonder. Abba have sold over 250 million records. So why are they not up there.

all of those groups have been just as influential as ABBA, bar Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.

Well I agree that Aretha was more influential, but she wasn't on the list. But the Supremes were one of the first girl gorups ever, and they were one of the key acts that paved the way for todays female singers. Mariah Carey on the other hand, didn't show up until the early nineties. Which means she hasn't even been in the buisness for twenty years yet.

i think its only mariah fans that think shes 'up there' with the best of them. i dont/havnt ever heard praises from 'non fans' in the music industry.

Preciseley!! So i expect that that the next time you create a topic like this ABBA is up there at the top in bold, underlined and in italics. Its not just me who think this, the quotes clearly show it. I am disgusted in fact.:o So next time, review your artists and think that if you are doing one of these polls again try getting actually getting the best artists ever, not The Supremes (nothing personal but they didn't sell more than 50 million albums, but come on Spice Girls were higher than them ^_^ )

p.s this shows how passionate i am about ABBA so lets give 'em a forum haha

Thanks Matt. :D

its in no doubt that abba were one of the biggest, best pop groups ever. it isnt an opinion held by fans alone but the music business, writers, and musicians.

i voted 'yes' although abba could be dealt with in the retro lounge

Saying that you might have well had said that about the Elvis forum but that's had over 21,000 posts, so that is doing well and i would class ABBA equally as greatas Elvis ^_^ . But thanks for voting if it oulls of vote sumtime

i would have to say Whitney but i also think that Elton,Michael,Mariah & Madonna are really good
i dont really know who to vote for... all legends in their own right!! even if i dislike some of them, i respect all of them!! :D

I agree, Michael is the best solo act on the list, and unlike Elvis and Sinatra he actually wrote his own songs. ^_^

However, "Thriller" has not sold 104 million, neither has Michael sold 750 million records, even if you added Jackson 5/Jacksons sales along with Janet and all the other Jackson family's solo sales, you would'nt get that amount. It a bit like when people say Elvis has sold a billion.

Thriller album is eally has sold 104 million http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c106/Blanka84/guiness.jpg

We had a debate about the Thriller album and it's sales a while ago I believe...
I voted Michael Jackson, both because he's my favourite from the list and because I think he's one of the most influential there ^_^
I voted Beatles but Whitney's voice, Michael's dancing and Stevie's lyrics are amazing...   Love them all!

Elvis I think. It's difficult to gauge from 2007 what an impact Elvis and the Beatles had. I think it's huge - dwarfing the others listed, but between the two I consider it was Elvis Presley that was the greatest ever, even if most of his fans have now passed on.

Thanks, but as has been said the picture is incorrect. For a start it wasn't 80 weeks in the Top10. You can check this out from chart runs.

I'm not saying he was'nt a great singer and a legend but he did'nt write his own material.
