Yes and Better Than That comes into the same category for me. I love the song but particularly the vocals and lyrics of the verses.
I think it's the bits without a lot of production when he just sings - as he would if he were just standing there. He did say that this new album is not as heavy on production and has songs he can just stand and sing.

I wouldn't want him to drop the upbeat high energy stuff altogether because it's fabulous live but scaling back on excess production seems like a very good move to me.

One thing I'll say about Darius is that no matter how many layers of production they stuck on his songs, his diction has always been superb. You can hear virtually every word and to me it's important to hear the lyrics of a song.

I still think that because Booth was still very ill and the record company was on 19's back to get the album out, on some tracks Darius was treated more like their other artists and almost reduced to just doing the vocals and backing vocals, with him having no clear idea what the finished track would sound like after it was left to the producers.

That's not the way Darius works and I think that's why he's more determined than ever to do it his way, no matter how long it takes and with the accompanying risk that he'll need to rebuild his public recognition factor before its release.

Song For Today - the stand/sit and sing, Mercury Rising...............goosebumps

Edited by Baytree

liked the way he bought a top with the word s 'Keep the Faith' last year to tell us that things were going Ok. It's such a Darius thing to do and gets the message across.

It'll have to be 'Faith In Me' for today.

Still Mercury Rising. No matter what his new music sounds like, I'd want to hear Darius sing MR live again.
I was listening to 'The way I do' tonight for the first time in ages....I'd love him to sing that
It is one of the ones I like to hear most. As I've said before, 'I'm Not Buying' and 'Simple Like the Truth' were great as well. I could kick myself for not recording them. But 'Mercury Rising' made me really sit up and listen, so beautiful
When I first listenend to The Way I Do, it was so Darius, I could practically hear him rather than Marcos.
You can imagine D singing it. The idea that he just copied D's vocals was strengthend when Marcos said he'd been on the phoe to an ex and the words just came to him - when hee hadn't got any writing credits on the song.

It makes you wonder what other partial D songs are lying about Steve Morales' studio and whether he would allow them to be completed and given to another artist.

If he has strong songs like the 3 demos that he's scrapped and he definitely doesn't want to record them himself, he should allow others to do it.

He said he wasn't aware of that any were intended to be passed on to another singer

Don't you think he should be told when songs he has writing credits do get passed on? He should be due royalties.

He'd get them anyway. You don't have much control once a co written song gets put to a music publisher.
So its the publisher who must see that all royaltiesdue are collected and divided up amongst all parties in the ratios specified?
There is an organisation whose job t is to do that. Whenever a track is played, royalties are due on it.
