You must have the patience of a saint, megham. Did your father-in-law get his telegram from Her Majesty?

He got his telegram - one from the Queen and one from the minister for works and pensions. He still doesn't really know what day it is. I'd ordered a birthday cake from Sainsbury's, To Dad, Happy 100th Birthday. I went to pick it up and they had the blank cake and no one who could do it. I went bolistick. It took me back to my childhood, I threw a tantrum. A grown woman slamming things around. I was liveid. I ended up with a chocolate cake and 3 candles to make 100. It's not even as though he'll live to the next birthday and this was ordered a couple of weeks ago.

The checkout assistant was as annoyed as I was, she and the supervisor arranged that I didn't have to pay for the cake but, it was such a let down for such a special birthday.

To be honest, it probably did me good - the undone cake was just a last straw. I don't recommend it as stess release though.
Laughing In The Rain. It's horrible outside but I'm very chirpy and LITR is very catchy and singable.
I love looking at all the amazing Autumn colours. The scenery in the Lake District was fantastic.
I'm biased, I know, but for spectacular scenery, I still prefer Scotland. There are only two bugbears - the weather and the midges.

didnt see one midge when we were up in Scotland a few years back..even when we went to Loch Lomond! perhaps it was the wrong time of year or something.

the colours of the trees seem more intense this year..either due to the sumer we had(didnt have) or theleaves remaining on the trees later than usual. I am even seeing our garden shrubs looking very colourful, and I hadnt noticed that as much before.

Laughing in the rain today

'Simple Like the Truth' Wouldn't life be easier if people just tried the truth instead of stories.

Not always though. Sometimes the little white lie prevents a lot of suffering and distress.

'Stars Crash Down'.....that's what it sounds like with all the loud fireworks.

It sounds as if the sun and moon are bouncing about as well.......the firework bangs are getting louder.

The fireworks around here seemed to stop quite early last night. Saturday, they just seemed to go on and on.

My song of the day is Resolution.....to get the garden cleared up before the weather breaks.

I'm glad Bonfire Night was dry for the children.

And for my husband - he likes them just as much as when he was a child. I have to go and watch them each year.
I like fireworks in their time and place but I hate having to suffer the racket every night for about eight weeks and the cats get really stressed with it all too.
