Analysis

 

Album Chart: 2 New Entries, 1 Re-Entry, 3 Non-Movers, 4 Up, 10 Down: A slow time of the year for albums but the sales bring new entries from Club Mix 2007 (#11) and Zero 7’s The Garden (#5) while Nerina Pallot’s mega No.1 album Fires makes a return to the chart…Elsewhere there are climbs from Carrie Underwood and Cascada two of 2006’s biggest albums…Clubland 10 starts the top 10 by sliding to the bottom while Nelly Furtado’s Loose hangs on in the top 10 yet again…Delta Goodrem falls to No.7 with Innocent Eyes Japan while Ministry of Sound is down to No.7 with follow compilation Now 65 back up to No.6!!! Zero 7 start the top 5 while Girls Aloud and All Saints swap places for 4th and 3rd place with former No.1 albums…Gwen Stefani spends a 3rd week at No.2 which means that for a 5th week its Take That’s Beautiful World at No.1!!!

 

Singles Chart: 1 New Entry, 5 Non-movers, 4 Up, 10 Down: A slow week as only Swedish popstrel Robyn can break into the chart with her song Be Mine (No.18). Outside the top 10 there are climbs for Nerina Pallot and Ben Macklin and a non-mover for Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie on its 44th week in the top 20…The only song to leave the top 10 is from Girls Aloud…Gwen Stefani and Take That have minor slides with album tracks at the foot of the top 10 while Cascada stay at No.8 with Truly Madly Deeply…All Saints rock down to No.7 while Take That’s Mancunian Way rebounds to No.6…Patience by the band spends its 10th week in the top 6 by falling a place to No.5 while Mika’s Grace Kelly shoots up to No.4!!! The top 3 remains unchanged this week which means that Mason and Princess Superstar are at No.3, Take That’s Shine doesn’t budge from 2nd place and Leona scores a second week at the top with A Moment like this!!!

The moment like this looks set to be fading for Leona as she looks unlikely to grab a 3rd week at the top...Mika's Grace Kelly, Take That's former No.1 Shine and dance songs from Eric Prydz and Mason are expected to contend for the No.1...

 

The album chart could see a surprise entry or 2 but the real question is whether Take That can manage an astonishing 6 weeks at No.1 or if Gwen Stefani will finally dethrone the comeback kings...
