It's summer, it's July, it's time for some summery genres. So my ideas were to put together a couple of genres that are good for that, and well, they're the very first 2 that we did in Club Bizarre 6 years ago. Trance and Eurodance.

 

Trance: a form of electronic dance music that runs normally at about 135-150 BPM, often characterised by repeated melodic phrases (if present) and a sense of building tension to a drop. Originated in Britain and Germany in the 90s and continues to be popular to this day.

 

Eurodance: similar origins to trance, originated across Europe, based around strong rhythms and synthesizers that it borrows from techno and disco. Original eurodance often seems quite retro now but modern updates to the genre have been seen in charts recently.

 

both genres are on the rise again so you can go modern or retro; as long as your entry is somewhere in this ballpark it's good.

 

RULES

- Make sure that your entry falls under the Dance genre - essentially something that would be appropriate to post in this area of the forum.

- The aim of this contest is showcasing lesser-known music so keep that in mind, e.g. no big chart hits or cult classics. Lesser known songs by bigger artists may be okay.

- Please avoid anything that has already been sent to previous editions of BJSC, Club Bizarre or Unknown Pleasures.

- If any of these rules aren't adhered to then the Dance forum moderators (awardinary, Dan and lewistgreen) may veto your entry, in which case you will have to submit a new song.

- This is an anonymous contest so please do not reveal what you have sent - the unmasking occurs during the results show.

So, Eurobeat (DEJA VU) isn't part of the contest?

judging by the song you've referenced, eurobeat seems similar enough to eurodance that I'd allow it

Yeah eurobeat (specifically often seems to be actually an Initial D (old car anime) reference, I know many J-Pop songs with ‘Eurobeat’ remixes) definitely fits within the Eurodance umbrella that I was thinking of

I'd probably add that anything similar to Miracle, 0800 HEAVEN, Good Love etc is fine as it's the modern in-between of Trance / Eurodance. Obviously don't try to send those songs :P

Hype! I finished 4th in the previous Trance edition vs. 14th in the Eurodance one, but have found a bit of a groove with the latter in recent years of BJSC, decisions decisions :P

Will definitely struggle what to send in here but I think I have couple of ideas!!!

Definitely here for this theme! Can’t wait to see what gets sent, I wonder if it will be landslide trance or if Euro dance will get its fair representation in the contest too.

Right so I was leaning towards almost definitely sending something I had on my potentials list for a while but just wanted to check out some other tracks by the same artist and I'm very glad I did as I've found something even better <3

Confirmed, then reconfirmed 5 minutes later (still with the same act, surely) and manifest my original entry for BJSC. (2 CBs, 2 times my inner-self said my original entry should be for BJSC )

I did pretty awfully in the first trance round so maybe a chance for redemption here :thinking: (unless I find a eurodance song I really want to send ofc).
