Dennis Rodmans' daughter Trinity Rodman is actually really good. Alex Morgan is still around and dangerous. Megan Rapinoe is retiring soon. Rose Levelle is recovering from injury, but there.

The United States launched their bid for an unprecedented third consecutive world crown with a comfortable win against Women's World Cup debutants Vietnam in Auckland.

Sophia Smith struck twice before half-time for the four-time world champions in front of thousands of travelling USA fans in a crowd of 41,107.

Smith, one of 14 players in the squad appearing at their first World Cup, fired the number-one ranked team in the world ahead with a low drilled finish from an angle.

Her second was awarded following a lengthy check by the Video Assistant Referee for an offside before captain Lindsey Horan, after an assist by Smith, swept home the third in the 77th minute.

At least it wasn't a Thailand-style score! I do worry for Vietnam in this group though, hopefully they can get at least a point against the Netherlands or Portugal.
A win for the Netherlands against Portugal in their first match - Netherlands definitely dominated the play but Portugal did get a couple of chances towards the end!
Wonder if Portugal can cause an upset and knock the USA out?

Keep dreaming, after a disappointing display against Netherlands where they literally had shooting practice in the second half and the Dutch goalie faced a firing squad of American attackers with none going in, you better believe we're talking at least 3-0 USA.

What I'm hearing there is 'the USA almost scored a lot of goals against the Netherlands'. If they almost score a lot of goals against Portugal, but Portugal manage to score an actual goal, that's all that's needed to cause an upset! Not saying it's likely (your prediction is certainly more reasonable) but it's not impossible either.
MESS. Better start upping your finishing quality USA, or there is no way we're beating Sweden!
