It's up 15 spots for Simple Minds, getting their first chart-topper since 1995, and second in total, as the fab Solstice Kiss harks back to Belfast Child-era Simple Minds and well over 40 years of chart entries since they Promised You a Miracle. Jim Kerr's ex drops out the chart this week (Pretender's Chrissie Hynde). Belinda Carlisle makes it 2 top 3's in a row and the biggest climber is Corinne Bailey rae letting out her inner punk as New York Transit Queen rockets up 85 places to 4, her first top 10 since the very different Miles Kane collab Nothing's Ever Gonna Be Good Enough 2 years ago, and her 5th top 10 in 18 years of charting.

Up 79 places, Alan Walker gets a 2nd top in a row with Endless Summer, and his 8th in total spread out over the last 7 years, while Mae Muller makes it a 3rd top 10 with Me Myself & I up 44, not to be confused with the De La Soul song. Galantis rockets up too, as there's a big changeover at the top end, Bang Bang!Up 65 places and a 6th top 20 in 8 years. Highest new entry is 2002 chart-topper, Harder, bringing back a bit of drum n bass fabness, a track that was never the hit it deserved to be.

Bournemouth-area band Slowave leap up into the top 40, and Salt Ashes return a 3rd top 40 track 9 years on from If You Let Me Go going top 10 and Save It topping my charts in 2016. Texas get another Greatest Hits newie entry with Keep On Talking at 59 34 years on from I Don't Need A Lover Slide-guitar-ing its way into the charts. There's lot of debuts from acts new to my charts this week, and a few repeaters from la Zarra (her 2nd following Eurovision debut), Post Malone, Hozier is back for a 10th year of charting with De Selby (Part 2). I must have missed Part 1! Rita Ora's been doing a fiar bit this year already and adds another, Don't Think Twice, and veteran 90's act Beck returns with a Phoenix collab. Phownix are on 10 years of charting, including 2 top 10's, and Beck debuted back in 1994 with the slacker grungey Loser. I bought the Gold album.

The Blessed Madonna returns with Jacob Lusk of Gabriels, who are also climbing into the top 40 with Glory. I've bought pretty much all their catalogue to date, quite the live act. That leaves The Weeknd, never far from the charts over the last 10 years, on his collab with Madonna, making it her most Popular track since ooh 2019, her first new track of this decade, giving her 5 consecutive decades and 39 years of chart entries - which leaves her behind Cher, Diana Ross, Suzi Quatro, in terms of solo run length of time - Cher's on 49 years of new material, Diana's on 54 years if you include her lead credit on Supremes tracks and a collab with Tame Impala, or 51 years if you don't, and Suzi's on 50 years.

Hi John!

Nice to see "Endless Summer" gain into the top 10, the big gains for "Until I Found You" and "Cruel Summer" and the debuts for "DJ Turn It Up", "Italodisco", "Dial Drunk", "Don't Think Twice", "Mercy", "Popular" and "Car Keys (Ayla)".

Great chart and take care!

Great to see new peak positions for Alan Walker, DJ Cassidy, Gwen Stefani, Albin Lee Meldau and Beverley Knight :D

New debuts for Texas, The Kolors and The Weekend/Madonna :D

Hey John!

Kylie still top 10

Dance the night stalling... BUT NOT FALLING so that's good. A bop it is 100%> I wish I'd gotten on board with it a tad earlier.

Car keys is pretty decent I would like to see it become a hit but I doubt that'll happen at all unfortunately.

Sorry you had to miss out on seeing Lightning Seeds and co. Hope your ear gets better soon. Anyways, my faves:

Hey james! :)

Dua's is a pretty good record, but still not a top 20 for me - but ti's hanging around a long time so it's total "sales" will be as good as many that peaked higher but went away quickly.

Car Keys is fun, yes, seems catchy enough to be a hit with the right breaks! You never know! :D

Thanks as always for the comments!

Fantastic chart as always

Hi AH! :) , sorry about the hangover! I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol - the advantage is it doesnt cost much to get drunk on a night out  I don't like feeling rough the next day though so 2 or 3 bacardi cokes or lagers is enough for me to get tipsy and giggly :D Hope the rest of the hol was fab!

Got my ear done thanks, £50 so everything is sharp and tinny now, just opening a bag of crisps is like fireworks going off

Bang Bang holding at 12 this week, still good though! Thanks for the 18 points support for Kosheen, still dont understand why it flopped when it came out, one of those mysteries! Maybe too mellow for their fans.. :o

Philly Freedom had 3 weeks at 2 and topped up its sales enough to overtake Bennie & The Jets in my all-time top 956, so I thought it didn't need to hang around too long or it would start overtaking some other faves in the list that I prefer  Well done on remembering a 2-18 drop! Because of my stupid "UK top 30 only" eligibility back in the early 70's I had some bizarre drops: See My Baby Jive 10 weeks at number one then dropped out entirely from my top 20, or Chairmen Of The Board were popping in and out of the UK top 30 with I'm On My Way To A Better Place had a complete chart run of new-1-out-1-out, the only time a record entered at 1 on two occasions and then dropped out completely

Good luck with Leif, I see other folk are charting it now too - it wuz robbed! :D

Thanks as always! B-)
