Can't say that wasn't deserved for the Spaniards, they were closer to scoring again than we were to equalising! Still a wonderful achievement for the Lionesses getting to two international finals two years in a row, I hope they continue to inspire.

Just weren't meant to be, You have to say Spain deserved it. Still the Lionesses have come a long way since 2005.
Spain vs England in football, 99% of the time Spain wins. Spain has better sports facilities, and a culture more based around going heavy into sports

Good job we had that 1% last year then^

Good effort getting to the final but Spain definitely deserved the win. Impressive for them to bounce back after that battering from Japan!

Olga Carmona who scored the winning goal was told after the match that her father passed away two days earlier. Condolences go out to her, can't even begin to imagine the range of emotions that she must have felt today.

Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has apologised for kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain won the Women's World Cup.

Rubiales kissed the Spain forward during the presentation ceremony following the team's 1-0 win over England in Sunday's final.

"I didn't like it," Hermoso said on Instagram, but a statement released later on her behalf defended Rubiales.

On Monday, Rubiales said: "I was completely wrong, I have to admit it."

Congrats to Spain - definitely the better team in that match, although England had that real chance in the first half!

Indeed, that must be so so difficult :(

Spain's prime minister says Luis Rubiales kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips was an "unacceptable gesture" and that his apology is "not enough".

Spanish football federation president Rubiales kissed forward Hermoso following Spain's 1-0 win over England in Sunday's Women's World Cup final.

It's pretty poor form that that's all anyone seems to be talking about now^ and Spain's win has completely been swept under the carpet.

Luis Rubiales has refused to step down as president of the Spanish football federation following his behaviour at the Women's World Cup final on Sunday.

Rubiales, 46, kissed forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain's 1-0 victory over England.

He had earlier grabbed his crotch as he celebrated at the final whistle.

"I will not resign, I will not resign," he told an extraordinary general assembly called by the federation. "A social assassination is taking place."

Spain's entire coaching staff except for their manager Jorge Vilda have now resigned because of the kissing row, also Spain's players have refused to play until Luis Rubiales resigns. With all of these things that have happened it almost feels like what was the point of Spain winning the tournament? it's certainly a stark contrast to the joyous scenes of celebration among the players and Spanish nationals after the men's team won the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Spain's Women's World Cup-winning head coach Jorge Vilda has criticised suspended football federation president Luis Rubiales, calling the moment he kissed squad member Jennifer Hermoso "inappropriate and unacceptable".

Rubiales was suspended by Fifa on Saturday after Hermoso said the kiss prior to the team lifting the trophy was not consensual.

Vilda's entire coaching staff have resigned in protests against Rubiales, but Vilda himself has not stepped down despite his latest comments
