• “Glad You Came” being one of the biggest songs of the decade in US radio BAFFLES me  the 2010s were a wild decade for sure

• “Chasing The Sun” should have been a multi-week #1 😓

• “Show Me Love” has aged HORRIBLY

Thanks to all 17 participants! <3 That was more than I was expecting!

18. Glow In The Dark - 5.86

Highest Score: 10 (AllStarBySmashMouth)

Lowest Score: 3 (Nina West)

17. Remember (acoustic) - 6.09

Highest Score:8.5 (Roba)

Lowest Score: 3 (Monzo)

16. Heartbreak Story - 6.21

Highest Score: 8.5 (AllStarBySmashMouth, Roba, UltraCruelSummer)

Lowest Score: 3 (Monzo)

So the three tracks leaving us first are the three not included on the greatest hits!

Glow In The Dark (deservedly) finishes last and is the only song to receive an average under 6! It is also the only song to receive a 10 in the bottom three! Glow In The Dark was the final single from The Wanted before their hiatus, and it bombed only charting at 177. The song managed the impressive feat of sounding dated in 2013/2014, so imagine how dated it sounds in 2023.

The Wanted returned in 2021 with an acoustic cover of Becky Hill's smash hit Remember. The release was accompanied with a video of looking back at the band's career. It's a perfectly nice cover.

And finishing of this section was the wildcard selection of this rate, Heartbreak Story, which is actually The Wanted's 8th highest streamed track on Spotify! (and ahead of some big singles!) The Wanted said on their reality show they wanted to collaborate with Taylor Swift on this track, that obviously didn't happen x It's a very strong album cut from them though.

A really great cover of 'Remember' I thought and 'Heartbreak Story' was great as well. 'Glow In The Dark'... not so much so worthy of last place really.

15. Could This Be Love - 6.61

Highest Score: 10 (LM Fan)

Lowest Score: 4 (Roba)

14. I Found You - 6.65

Highest Score: 11 (Monzo)

Lowest Score: 2 (Jessie Where)

13. Heart Vacancy - 6.68

Highest Score: 9 (AllStarBySmashMouth, Jason, LM Fan, Pensmith)

Lowest Score: 3 (Roba, RyanFM)

The first track to leave us from the standard Greatest Hits collection is Could This Be Love, which low-key only feels like its out first due to being the only non-single included on the collection! Could This Be Love became a major fan favourite and is actually in the band's top 5 most streamed songs! It's a great album track and I think it would have made a solid single for them (tho it still probably would have bombed at that point in their career)

Up next is 2012's comeback single I Found You, which was meant to launch their 3rd album around the same time, but that got delayed. I Found You pretty much derailed any hype they had chart-wise in America and was the beginning of the end in the UK. The song peaked at #3 on very good sales, but plummeted extremely quickly. The song is very polarising, especially due to the falsetto-only Bee-Gees like chorus, and receives both the highest and the lowest score in the rate so far.

And in lucky number thirteen is the band's 2nd single Heart Vacancy. This basically just fit the generic boyband 2nd single to a tea (see Gotta Be You etc) with a slower-paced song centred on love. It does that job well but it is nothing outstanding, so I'm not too shocked to see it fall out here quite early. The video is low-key better than the song. The song also provided the (kind of) first Wanted reunion in 2018, when Max and Jay sang the song with Tom at his wedding. The song got quite a bit of love with a lot of 9s, but also quite a few low scores.

12-11 either later today or tomorrow x

12. Walks Like Rihanna - 6.79

Highest Score: 10 (AllStarBySmashMouth)

Lowest Score: 1 (ThePensmith)

11. Colours - 7.03

Highest Score: 10 (ElectroBoy)

Lowest Score: 4 (Monzo, RyanFM)

In 12th place is a song that I'm shocked finished this high, I would've thought Walks Like Rihanna would've definitely been bottom three. However it is their most divisive song, and the love side of that is enough to push it up this high (it received one 10 and a lot of 9s and 8s). However it also received some of the lowest scores in the rate overall. The song was a slight departure from their typical song, chasing a more One Direction-like sound and once again attempting to breakthrough in America. The song did nothing in the latter, whilst the band have gone on record many times saying how much they hate the song (even joking in their reunion Q&A they wanted to call the comeback album Greatest Hits + Walks Like Rihanna). The song is mostly known for the utterly nonsensical chorus lyrics, because everyone knows Rihanna's famous walk  Though Rihanna was supposedly a fan of the song (and nearly collabed with The Wanted in 2011/2012!) The song peaked at #4 in the UK (on very high sales, they should've released another week and this would've been an easy #3, possibly even #2) and is one of their biggest sellers & most streamed tracks. The video references many classic boyband videos, from Backstreet Boys and NSYNC. Personally, I've grown to love this song. I utterly despised it on release but damn its got a charm and heavy guilty pleasure vibe to it that now I just love it, its a fun pop song.

With a quite big jump in average, the song that just misses the top 10 is Colours, one of the two newly recorded songs in 2021 for the Greatest Hits collection. The song was well received on release and harkens back to the band's signature sound. The song received mostly solid scores, with a couple of high and low scores here and there. I do like it but it gives me very strong album track vibes, so I'm not gutted it missed the top 10.

No losses there so far. 'Heart Vacancy' was a naff choice for 2nd single (especially after 'Glad You Came') for me oops.

I think it was 'All Time Low' it followed!

That top 10 feels like everything that's in it should be there (aside from 'Show Me Love'!)

The lyrics to Walk Like Rihanna are ridiculous but aside from that I always thought it was a really catchy song and was surprised everyone else (including the band) hated it so much.

10. Warzone - 7.16

Highest Score: 9 (AllStarBySmashMouth, Cody, Monzo)

Lowest Score: 4 (Nina West)

9. Show Me Love (America) - 7.21

Highest Score: 11 (____/\___, LMFan)

Lowest Score: 2 (Jessie Where)

Not literally identical poses in the YouTube screencaps haha

Kicking of our top 10 is Warzone. The song was the 4th and final single from Battleground, but struggled as a post-album track and became their first single to miss the top 20, narrowly peaking at 21. (And if it weren't for Glow In The Dark + the 2021 songs, this would be their lowest peaking song ever). Its a nice mid-tempo electropop ballad but its not their most memorable song. I'm kinda surprised it made the top 10 (I thought it would be this vs. Colours for 10th, with the latter taking it).

Into 9th is the other song I'm surprised that made the top 10 as I always thought Show Me Love was more divisive than this! And tbf... looking at the scores it was divisive but led in a more positive direction! The song scored two 11s but a few scores under 5 including a 2! SML was the single released just before their 3rd album came out, and well... America were way past the point of showing them any love and the writing was on the wall x However the song peaked at 8 in the UK, helped by their 3rd and final X-Factor performance. This was the only one of their 2013 songs I liked at the time of release, its a nice ballad and idk there's something about it that I've always found quite anthemic

8th was quite close to 9th, and 7th sees us have a big jump in average

'Warzone' I recall peaking at the start of 2012, decent track and 'Show Me Love (America)' is OK. 'Walks Like Rihanna' should sound worse than what it is but can't deny it's catchy lol.
