In 1970, Elvis flew to Memphis, where he would stay the whole week, before returning to Los Angeles. There was a private ceremony arranged for him, where he received his official deputy sheriff's badge from the Sheriff. This badge permitted him to carry a pistol. Elvis was interested in police work for a long time and with all the threads in Las Vegas he was very pleased with it.

In 1970, Elvis picked up 12 TCB-pendants in Beverly Hills from Schwartz and Ableser, Fine diamonds and Jewelry.

These pendants were made from a design sketched by Elvis and Priscilla. The 14 karat gold charm consisted of the letters TCB over a zigzag lightning bolt. Over the years many explanations were given but its meaning is: Taking Care of Business- in a flash. :cheer:

In 1965, thirty-nine-year-old Bill Black, Elvis’ original bass player, dies of a brain tumour at 7.15am at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. Elvis is quoted in the Commercial Appeal as saying that Bill ‘was a great man and a person that everyone loved. In 1957, Elvis is at the Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

In his first show in his new adopted hometown, Elvis outrages not only the local and national press but an audience filled with Hollywood celebrities and their children. During the fifty-minute, eighteen number show, he ‘wiggled, bumped, twisted,’ and prompted headlines the next day that declared: 'Elvis Presley Will Have To Clean Up His Show - Or Go To Jail.’ The Los Angeles Vice Squad warns Colonel Parker of that same potential consequence, but according to the Colonel, Elvis remains unfazed. ‘He just said, ’Well, if I don’t dance tonight, maybe I don’t have to take a shower tonight.’

In 1976, this was the second night the musicians were together in the Jungle Room for a RCA recording session. They recorded a couple of instrumental tracks while waiting for Elvis to appear. Finally Elvis did, but only for a short time while there was a delivery of a shipment of Harley - Davidsons. Elvis insisted to take them for trial runs up and down the driveway and to Linda's home, just around the corner. So the session was called off.

Elvis arranged for all the musicians a ride home, even went so far to give J.D. Sumner his white limousine to ride back to Nashville in style.
