In 1969, the Colonel signs a deal with RCA in which the record company pays $20,000 total for two extra singles (Suspicious Minds and the not-yet released Don’t Cry Daddy) and the just-released special double album, From Vegas To Memphis/From Memphis To Vegas. As with all side and special deals, the money is to be split 50-50 between the Colonel and Elvis

In 1971, Elvis performed at the Cleveland Public Hall Auditorium, Cleveland, Ohio at 2.30 and 8.30 p.m. This was the first time that Al Dvorin took over as announcer. He would say at the end of each show the now famous words: Elvis Has Left The Building. :cheer: :dance:

This ‘Western Swing Jamboree,’ dedicated to departing KWEM DJ Texas Bill Strength, who is bound for Minneapolis, and featuring Texas-born, Princeton-educated, star of western swing and honky tonk Hank Thompson, top country act Carl Smith, Charlene Arthur and Sun artist Carl Perkins (just a few weeks away from recording his first big hit, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’), marks the beginning of a six-day tour

In 1964, in a memo to Hal Wallis, Wallis associate Paul Nathan describes a conversation with Beatles press officer Brian Somerville about the British group appearing in the finale of Elvis’ next Paramount picture. He learns that the Beatles ‘are crazy about Elvis’ and would be very interested in working with him if the right contractual arrangements can be made. B)

In 1955, Elvis is at the Louisiana Hayride, a remote broadcast from the Gladewater, Texas High School. Elvis performs Baby, Let’s Play House, That’s All Right and Bill Haley’s Rock Around The Clock. :dance:

 

In 1958, while Elvis is in Grafenwohr, Vernon, very likely at the Colonel’s instigation, purchases a Grundig tape recorder with a microphone and two reels of tape.

The Memorial Studio in Memphis informs Vernon that the marker for his wife’s grave has been completed, and that the Italian statuary has been ordered for her monument. The inscription on the grave reads,’ She was the sunshine of our home.’

In 1956, back in Memphis Elvis and Nick Adams were spotted riding motorcycles. Late at night they attended a private showing of Love Me Tender at the Loew's State Theater. Apparently Gladys cried at the end of the film, when Elvis' character died. :wub:

During this period in 1973, Elvis was introduced to racquetball by Dr. Nick who was an accomplished player. This was a kind of therapeutic exercise for Elvis. They played frequently in the early morning at the local Y and at Memphis State.

 

In 1962, Girls! Girls! Girls! opens nationwide, appearing for three weeks on Variety’s National Box Office Survey, where it peaks at #6. For the year 1962, Elvis will have three of the fifty top-grossing films. The others are Blue Hawaii at #14 and Kid Galahad at #37.
