In 1969, the Colonel signs a deal with RCA in which the record company pays $20,000 total for two extra singles (Suspicious Minds and the not-yet released Don’t Cry Daddy) and the just-released special double album, From Vegas To Memphis/From Memphis To Vegas. As with all side and special deals, the money is to be split 50-50 between the Colonel and Elvis

In 1956, Elvis buys a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle and takes Natalie Wood for a ride, accompanied by Nick Adams on the old Harley and a police escort.

November 2nd

 

In 1972, Elvis flies back to Memphis from Washington in a chartered jet, in time to make final preparations for his upcoming tour which will begin in Minneapolis on November 5th.

In 1958, Elvis and his Company C arrived in Grafenwohr, Bavaria, on the Czech border. Elvis had to endure the same field conditions like everybody else.

November 4th

 

In 1967, there is an auction of equipment and other items at the Circle G Ranch. Sometime during this month Elvis and Priscilla purchase their first Los Angeles home at 1174 Hillcrest Road in the Trousdale section of Beverly Hills for approximately $400,000. B)

November 5th

 

In 1971, Elvis begins a tour at the Metropolitan Sports Center in Minneapolis. The Imperials are not on this tour and their place is taken by J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, while Jackie Kahane, until recently Wayne Newton’s opener, fills the comic’s role on a permanent basis.

November 6th

 

In 1971, Elvis performed at the Cleveland Public Hall Auditorium, Cleveland, Ohio at 2.30 and 8.30 p.m. This was the first time that Al Dvorin took over as announcer. He would say at the end of each show the now famous words: Elvis Has Left The Building. :cheer: :dance:

November 7th

 

In 1971, Elvis performed at the Freedom Hall, State Fair and Expo Center, Louisville, Kentucky. On this show Elvis introduced his grandfather, Jessie Presley.

November 8th

 

In 1957, from the ship the USS Matsonia, on his way to Honolulu, Elvis telegrammed the Honolulu Star: "Aloha, very enjoyable trip. Sunbathing, swimming, tennis, reading." :D

 

November 9th

 

In 1970, Elvis puts down a deposit on a new home at 144 Monovale Drive in the Holmby Hills Section of Beverly Hills.

 

In 1962, Elvis concludes work on It Happened At The World’s Fair with publicity stills, then travels to Las Vegas, where he catches Johnnie Ray at the Hacienda, among other favourite acts.

November 10th

 

In 1970, Elvis performed at the Coliseum, Oakland, California. This was the opening show of the November tour. In general there can be said Elvis did more ballads on this tour and he would introduce How Great Thou Art as one of the highlights of the show. The Imperials returned as the backing vocals :wub:

 

 

November 11th

 

In 1972, Elvis performed at the Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California. The kissing and the sharing of scarves was of course a part of Elvis' show. So today he ordered 115 scarves in different colors from Mr. Guy in Las Vegas.

November 12th

 

In 1955, at The Carthage Milling Company in Texas for a show at 2.00pm. Elvis appears at the opening of the mill with other Hayride performers. Later at the Louisiana Hayride Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport.

Billboard’s Annual Disc Jockey Poll names Elvis the ‘Most Promising C&W Artist. :cheer: ’

 

November 13th

 

In 1955, Elvis is at the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis for two shows at 3.00pm and 8.00pm. This ‘Western Swing Jamboree,’ dedicated to departing KWEM DJ Texas Bill Strength, who is bound for Minneapolis, and featuring Texas-born, Princeton-educated, star of western swing and honky tonk Hank Thompson, top country act Carl Smith, Charlene Arthur and Sun artist Carl Perkins (just a few weeks away from recording his first big hit, ‘Blue Suede Shoes’), marks the beginning of a six-day tour

November 14th

 

In 1970, Elvis is at the Inglewood Forum in Los Angeles for two shows. Total attendance for the shows is a record-breaking 37,398, with a gross of over $300,000, more than a 1969 appearance at the Forum by the Rolling Stones. :dance:

November 15th

 

In 1960, a special showing of GI Blues is held in Hollywood as a benefit for the Haemophilia Foundation, but Elvis does not attend.

 

In 1958, Elvis attends Liberace’s late show at the Clover Rom of the Riviera Hotel and fools around for the photographers during a visit backstage B)

 

November 16th

 

In 1972, Elvis, Linda and Lisa-Marie flew from Los Angeles to Honolulu. They were accompanied by a large group: James Caughley, Joe Esposito, Dick Grob, Gee Gee Gambill, Charlie Hodge, Dr. Nichopoulos, Sonny West, Red West and the 3 Stanley brothers, Ricky, David and Billy.

November 17th

 

In 1952, the Presleys received an eviction notice from the Memphis Housing Authority, ordering them to vacate because their income is too high for housing assistance.

November 18th

 

In 1964, in a memo to Hal Wallis, Wallis associate Paul Nathan describes a conversation with Beatles press officer Brian Somerville about the British group appearing in the finale of Elvis’ next Paramount picture. He learns that the Beatles ‘are crazy about Elvis’ and would be very interested in working with him if the right contractual arrangements can be made. B)

November 19th

 

In 1955, Elvis is at the Louisiana Hayride, a remote broadcast from the Gladewater, Texas High School. Elvis performs Baby, Let’s Play House, That’s All Right and Bill Haley’s Rock Around The Clock. :dance:

 

In 1958, while Elvis is in Grafenwohr, Vernon, very likely at the Colonel’s instigation, purchases a Grundig tape recorder with a microphone and two reels of tape.

The Memorial Studio in Memphis informs Vernon that the marker for his wife’s grave has been completed, and that the Italian statuary has been ordered for her monument. The inscription on the grave reads,’ She was the sunshine of our home.’

 

November 20th

 

In 1956, back in Memphis Elvis and Nick Adams were spotted riding motorcycles. Late at night they attended a private showing of Love Me Tender at the Loew's State Theater. Apparently Gladys cried at the end of the film, when Elvis' character died. :wub:

 

November 21st

 

During this period in 1973, Elvis was introduced to racquetball by Dr. Nick who was an accomplished player. This was a kind of therapeutic exercise for Elvis. They played frequently in the early morning at the local Y and at Memphis State.

 

In 1962, Girls! Girls! Girls! opens nationwide, appearing for three weeks on Variety’s National Box Office Survey, where it peaks at #6. For the year 1962, Elvis will have three of the fifty top-grossing films. The others are Blue Hawaii at #14 and Kid Galahad at #37.
