April 27, 200718 yr Author April 27th In 1960, soundtrack recording for G.I. Blues is moved to the RCA studio at 6363 Sunset Boulevard because of a new agreement between RCA and the musicians union. Elvis arrives at the studio at 9.00am wearing his full dress uniform from the film and works until 8.00pm. The band is augmented by guitarist ‘Tiny’ Timbrell and pianist Dudley Brooks, both of whom have played on earlier L.A. sessions.
April 28, 200718 yr Author April 28th In 1967, rumours of Elvis’ imminent marriage appear in the press, just as members of the wedding party begin to assemble in Palm Springs. Security is so tight that not even Alan Fortas and Lamar Fike, in Memphis and Nashville respectively, receive invitations, with George Klein and jeweller Harry Levitch, the only non-family members to fly out of Memphis. Larry Geller first learns of the wedding from a supermarket tabloid.
April 30, 200718 yr Author 30th April 1957 and Elvis works on soundtrack recordings at Radio Recorders from 10.00am till 6.10pm. It is at this session that he first meets Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, the twenty-four year old co-writers of Hound Dog and Love Me. After observing him at work and talking to him a little about rhythm and blues, they are impressed, both with his knowledge of and shared passion for the music that has inspired them. May 1, 200718 yr Author May 1st 1967 After midnight on Monday morning, the wedding party (consisting of family, George Klein, Harry Levitch and those members of the entourage already in California) leaves for Las Vegas in two leased jets, and at 3.00am, Elvis and Priscilla obtain a $15 marriage licence at the Clark County Courthouse. The ceremony is held at approximately 11.45am at the Aladdin Hotel, in the second floor suite of the Colonel’s friend, owner Milton Prell, with Nevada Supreme Court Justice David Zenoff presiding and the Colonel in charge. Out of the entire entourage and their wives, only Joe Esposito and Marty Lacker, Elvis’ two best men, are present, with everyone else told at the last minute by Colonel Parker’s direction that there is no room for them at the ceremony. May 3, 200718 yr Author May 3rd In 1957, soundtrack recording for Jailhouse Rock resumes and goes on from 9.00am to 6.25pm. Today it’s Bill Black’s turn to walk out when he is unable to manage the introduction to Baby, I Don’t Care on his new Fender electric bass. Elvis picks up the instrument and plays the part himself, overdubbing his vocal on the instrumental track the following week. :dance:
May 4, 200718 yr Author May 4th In 1956, a long story in the Memphis Press-Scimitar by Bob Johnson quotes Elvis as saying,’ I like Crosby, Como, Sinatra, all the big ones. They had to be good to get there. I’ve always been kind of partial to Dean Martin. I like the Four Lads (the group he’d met in October at the filming of the Bill Randle feature in Cleveland).’ More than anything else, however, he wants ‘ the folks back home to think right of me. Just because I managed to do a little something, I don’t want anyone back home to think I got the big head.’ :wub:

In Faron Young’s recollection, the audience calls for Elvis when Hank Snow takes the stage. The announcer tries to restore order by telling the crowd that Elvis is out back signing autographs, and the auditorium empties! :yahoo:

At the conclusion of his performance, Elvis announces to a good portion of the audience of 14,000, ‘Girls, I’ll see you backstage.’ The response is a full-scale riot, with fans pursuing Elvis into the dressing room and tearing off his clothes and shoes. :o In the opinion of the Colonel’s advance man, Oscar Davis, this was the point at which Colonel Parker was irrevocably sold on the growth potential of Elvis Presley :dance:
