December 31, 20231 yr J. Cole and The Streets  I’m shocked that Cole is this high but I’m certainly not complaining. He’s my favourite current rapper, even without relaxing any solo released this year, he’s killed it with the features. Even if his newer stuff isn’t the same, the first few Streets albums are all 5/5 and would rank very high in my all-time favourites.
December 31, 20231 yr Didn't even consider The Streets as a solo act! Not that he would have made my votes, although his first two albums are pretty seminal.
December 31, 20231 yr Didn't even consider The Streets as a solo act! Not that he would have made my votes, although his first two albums are pretty seminal. Same here.
December 31, 20231 yr Loved loved loved "A Grand Don't Come For Free' by The Streets all the way through. Would have given him a few points if I remembered him.
December 31, 20231 yr If I had voted The Streets woulda been my highest pointer - their first two albums are the best of my lifetime and the current album is decent too!

January 1, 20241 yr Quick catchup since my last post here! My faves / artists that may have made my own list from 51-67 are Aphex Twin (nice to see him so high *.*) and Post Malone although the latter is starting to lose my interest a little with his most recent releases (although 'Chemical' and 'Mourning' were both great still). I'm definitely more keen on The Killers than Brandon's solo material but still enjoyed a few of his solo tracks, likewise with Lennon/The Beatles. I've never listened to a full album from Tom Odell but maybe I should as he has quietly racked up quite a few songs I really like, 'Another Love' has really aged like fine wine and 'Black Friday' is a great recent addition to his catalogue. Unexpectedly high for J. Cole as well, I find I tend to like his features more than his own songs but he is great when he wants to be! And insert the stereotypical comment about Bob Dylan songs often being better when someone else is singing them :kink: but of course a living legend.
January 1, 20241 yr Bob Dylan isn't the best vocal in music and that did put me off his work for a while, but his poetry and songwriting is unmatched. Highway 9 Revisited was a brilliant album and contains some of his best storytelling, and no one else could sing Like a Rolling Stone with the sneering contempt that he did x
January 1, 20241 yr So close to the top 50 for Bob Dylan, but a great debut position nonetheless - my faves of his are 'Like A Rolling Stone', 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' and the abrasive 'Idiot Wind' from 1975's Blood On The Tracks which proved he was still a songwriting force, as he has done again many times since.
January 1, 20241 yr 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' is my favourite I've heard from Bob as well I think!

Interesting remarks on ‘Another Love’ ageing well as for me it was an instant PC no1 when first released but I guess that’s why it’s not always a bad thing at the songs re enter the chart on tik tok as it opens it more to another generation of people. Also shout out to ‘Must Be Santa’ in Bobs discography and his whole 2009 Xmas album!
January 2, 20241 yr Not saying I wasn't a fan of it when it first came out! Just I appreciated it more than ever with its chart comeback recently.
