Wow! I hadn't expected half that much streaming presence for the Beatles... and especially with sales at the top pretty damn low at the moment I can see it going in at #1 now! Incredible.

The only downside of The Beatles getting to #1 would be that Elvis' record for most #1 hits would no longer be unambiguous  (as this would be an 18th for The Beatles which matches the number Elvis has if you don't count the 2005 reissues as separate #1s).

Not sure how likely it is to happen anyway, would probably need to hold up fairly well unless it really brings in massive physical sales. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a similar trajectory to 'There'd Better Be A Mirrorball' on streaming.

I can see the comparison with There'd Better Be A Mirrorball but even if it follows a similar trajectory it has some big advantages over that. Only losing half a day rather than half a week (still a silly waste mind), lower sales at the top end and most importantly all the physicals. IIRC I also don't think the Arctics did that kind of performance on Apple, let alone Amazon, despite debuting at Spotify #1.

Based on it's first one and a half weeks, Mirrorball would likely have landed in the #11-#15 region with a Friday release at the time, enough for lower half top 10 if it was the past few weeks. :gino: but I do think The Beatles are looking at a top 5 now even if their streaming falls away fast and some key sales have been lost.

I guess it would probably have been coming for a top 100 debut on tomorrow's chart if all its streams from today actually counted (I doubt it'll have done enough on downloads alone to make it although who knows now we don't have pop bars to give us an idea of how far ahead of the rest of the chart it is on iTunes. Suppose it's possible that its first 10 hours of Amazon streams may still count to this week as well so it might still happen)
Haven’t listened yet but would so love them to get #1. I guess we’re not expecting anything else to be doing much more than 35k. I could see them getting 20k from sales so it’s looking not unachievable.
With how sales are currently, I wouldn’t be surprised if Olivia Rodrigo gets a top 10 debut with her song for The Hunger Games soundtrack (or even challenge for #1 if the song is received well/gets strong playlisting)
Doesn't seem like there's been much fanfare about this Olivia release so I wouldn't expect it to be a contender for #1 (at least on debut) unless the song is really well received but who knows, soundtrack songs are kind of notoriously impossible to predict.

I think 35k is about what will be needed next week as well.

Out of interest I checked my memory and Mirroball did indeed only get as high as #18 on Apple Music. I tried to look for another apt comparison with ABBA's dual release but that's muddied by coinciding with a 24 track Drake album and it's making my brain hurt oop. :kink:

(also the Beatles would be far more fitting than DBE to bring male representation at #1 out of the wilderness lmaoooo  )

as predicted, huge performance by The Beatles, it's an Adele-esque comeback after all

Taylor-Is It Over Now, added to HH at #10, while Slut has been moved down towards the end of the list

new Olivia is #7 on NMF and not added to HH, but pretty sure there are physicals coming, not sure when though, but seen it on my vinyl lovers group

EDIT: I remember now it's out for Record Store Day, so not this week

oh wow at Beatles going #1 on Apple and Amazon, shame yesterday's streams won't count whatsoever though as I suspect there'll be quite a few folks giving it a curiosity stream yesterday then never listening to it again, I hope it doesn't make the difference between it going top 10 officially or not.
Just listened to Now And Then and, like a lot of people I suspect, I'm surprised how good it is. That'll keep me streaming it for longer than I expected. If lots of people are finding the same thing, it might hold up OK?

That seems like a great second day hold for the Xmas songs? How does it compare to Nov 2nd last year?
I could see there being a lot of media coverage midweek if the Beatles are looking like getting #1 so that could help too! Really hope it doesn't miss out due to the Thursday release. Obviously might also drop off massively through the week and end up nowhere near but we'll see

So impressive that The Beatles are at #1 on all of these different platforms! Plus 'Love Me Do' also benefitting and 'Here Comes The Sun' as well lower down.

The missing day of streams/sales is a shame. I'm glad the physicals and music video are dropping in the more beneficial tracking week at least, both today.

I wonder where Now And Then would enter officially today if all the streams and sales were counted properly - reckon Top 20!
