Song is registered with Ascap Under Candy Man (Perry, Aguilera) Audio: :Link Removed Unknown Track Previewed on MTV Overdrive. Song begins with a female artist from that era saying "do your thang girl" possibly Etta James or Aretha Franklin. Christina describes the song as supposed to be the sound of if those artists of the past came back to make a modern day song. So in theory since she had just been talking about DJ premier who produced a song called back in the day in which he said similar things about the track...this song could quite possibly be "Back in the Day" But fans are nicknaming it "do your thang" until confirmed. Song is also upbeat and great for club music. Trouble Although not previewed, Christina described Linda Perry helping her go back to the original sounds of that era unlike dj premiers more modern approach. The song was recorded with an old microphone with a rag over it to create that old fashioned muffled sound of the era to go along with the music. April 7, 200619 yr Author Aguilera Looks To The Past On Upcoming Album BILLBOARD NEWS March 08, 2006, 11:00 AM ET Lars Brandle, London Christina Aguilera's long-awaited new album doesn't have a name or a release date, but the artist has revealed that her inspiration for the project was far from modern. She unveiled a more classic look last month at the Grammy Awards, decked out like a vintage starlet while performing with Herbie Hancock. "Some of the songs are kept authentic, sticking to a really raw, old-soul sound, where others combine elements of old blues, jazz and soul with a hard modern-day edge," she said last week in London while promoting a European partnership between telecoms giant Orange and hand set maker Sony Ericsson. Through the technology collaboration, Aguilera has been tapped to feature in a nine-month marketing campaign across a string of European markets. Very few specifics have come to light about the album, expected this summer via RCA. The set will be the follow-up to 2002's "Stripped," which has sold more than 3.91 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In-demand songwriter/producer Linda Perry, who worked with Aguilera on "Stripped," recently told Billboard.com she contributed to the upcoming effort. "I'm not really sure if any of the cuts will make the record, but I certainly hope so," she said. "They're going to see a whole other side of Christina."
