My favourite Romanian ESC entry is Humans - Goodbye, but there are three hidden gems in 2016-2018 NFs.

Real result : 19th place

 

Many Eurofans disliked "Lost and Forgotten", so maybe my choices for Russia are better for you.

 

 

17. Maria Haukaas Storeng - Make My Day (Norway)

 

 

Rate : 7 / 10

Real result : Top 8

 

She was 6th in my Eurovision - 2008 ranking, but gave only 5 / 10 for "Hold On Be Strong".

 

 

16. Simone - How Will I Know (Denmark)

 

 

Rate : 7.5 / 10

Real result : Top 4

 

It's Simone's debut in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix. She will return in 2013 and 2016 years.

 

 

15. Sona - Skus Ma Viest (Slovakia)

 

 

Rate : 7.5 / 10

Real result : 7th place

 

Not bad result for Slovakia, but the next year was their highlight.

Big fans favourite reached only 14th place. After wonderful Lithuanian girl groups Timoteij don't impress me much.

Leanne’s mother Chris died young and had the posthumous # 1 single, which spent 5 weeks on the top of Irish chart in 1993 year.

Real result : 9th place in semifinal.

 

Marta is Lithuanian mezza soprano opera singer. Sadly "deaf" jury members gave only 3 points for her in semifinal.

Real result : 3rd place

 

 

8. Kuunkuiskaajat - Tyolki Ellaa (Finland)

 

 

Rate : 7.5 / 10

Real result : Winner + DNQ in final on Eurovision

 

It's very coin flip choice for # 1 in Finland between two good songs.

Real result : Last place in semifinal.

 

Croatian ladies stole my heart by this old fashioned classy performance. Sadly it was very vintage and cool for Eurovision's audience.

In summary it's strong contender for new possible update of my all-time top 100 girls group song list.

6. Lenna Kuurmaa - Rapunzel (Estonia)

 

 

Rate : 8 / 10

Real result : 2nd place

 

"Rapunzel" was solo debut for Lenna (also known as Vanilla Ninja member) and my favourite song from her four Eesti Laul entries. Also it’s very rare sample, when I liked fans favourite.

5. Ekaterina Frolova - Tout Va Bien (Russia)

Real result : 20th place

 

I didn't watch (or can't remember) Russian NF in 2010 year, so this French language song was the most positive discovery from all work over this Euroseason. Due to strong competition in Euroseason - 2012 possibly it's our first and last chance to be in top 5. As Russian resident I don't want to sacrifice this glorious moment.

 

 

4. Maria Arredondo - The Touch (Norway)

 

 

Rate : 8 / 10

Real result : Top 8

 

In 2003 year her duet with Christian Ingebrigtsen was # 1 in Norway for two weeks. Maybe you already heard that song from my current retrospective chart.

 

 

3. Mariaana Seppern - My Home Is Europe (Lithuania)

 

 

Rate : 8.5 / 10

Real result : 10th place in semifinal

 

Estonian singer Mariaana Seppern delivers her message of European harmony like only she can.

 

I don't care what you think about this song. It's funny pop performance with Eurovision spirit and possibly most iconic song from all Lithuanian pre-selections. She got 4 points from televoting, it became enough for avoiding the last place.

 

In 2003-2004 years Mariaana wrote some songs on Russian language. They are available in Internet. I think that she is not bad singer, just listen "Lial Ei Lootnud".

 

 

Top 2 was very predictable in this year.

"Satellite" became the last Eurovision winner, which I like. It was impossible to imagine it in 2010 year.
