SIX: The Musical was not something I was initially interested in but my partner kept playing the songs on Spotify in the car and then we watched the musical and then the rest, much like the musical, is history. As they say.

What a song and that helped the album climb my chart. As good as that song was, I did find this album quite average but then Miley has never been one of my go-to's for music, aside from the wrecking ball era. I have come to really enjoy Jaded since its initial release which at the time I couldn't stand.
February 25, 20241 yr Author 08 Ava Max - Diamonds & Dancefloors | 414,000 sales 2023 Chart Run • 02-02-02-02-02-01-03-03-03-03-04-06-07-09 | 14 wks I refuse to believe this album only charted for 14 weeks for me. At least one of them was #1 I suppose. Thus far this is Ava's best effort for me. With the delectable Maybe You're The Problem dropping before the album, it really but me in a mood to support Ava with this era. How could it not? It's clearly her best song and the fact it flopped, alongside every single after that and then the album flopped too. I was gobsmacked. Given songs like the aforementioned maybe you're the problem, one of us & Dancings Done, the latter which wouldn't sound out of place on an abba album either, this album is start to finish, a goddamn bop. I don't understand why this flopped but it was incredibly frustrating to watch.
February 25, 20241 yr Author 07 Olivia Rodrigo - Guts | 426,000 sales 2023 Chart Run • 04-02-02-01-01-01-02-02-03-03-02-02 | 12 wks With 12 weeks charted in the top 4 in 2023, 3 of those at #1 as well, it's no wonder it's so high on my EOY chart. Every single Olivia released from this album was amazing. Vampire I think, threw everyone off, expecting the same as her last era with the melodic piano piece though to be fair even with it being piano driven, Vampire was much more energetic than any of the singles from the last album. But then dropped the album and oh my god, I think I speak for everyone when I say we got whiplash. The album was a complete 180 to Vampire and was all the better for it. Get him back was decent though I found myself going off that quite quickly but then there was Bad Idea Right. The latter was simply flawless and grew on me with each passing week. Olivia is a star and in the future I think she could seriously rival Taylor as the world's most loved pop star. Bravo. Also seriously, I couldn't stand Olivia aside from drivers license before.

I didn't find this album to be terribly exciting after the two dedicated albums which themselves were a big step down from the e•mo•tion albums. It's a shame really. Beach house took is tiiiime to grow on me which it eventually did and if I'm not mistaken became one of her biggest hits on my chart. Western Wind never really clicked with me properly but then right at the beginning of the album was Surrender My Heart. One of her if not the best song she's ever penned that never seen a release as a single. That's absolutely crazy to me. This album only just missed my top 5 and that's quite the acconplishment given the lack of a stand out single.
February 25, 20241 yr Author 05 Lizzy McAlpine - Five Seconds Flat | 480,000 sales 2023 Chart Run • 09-09-07-04-03-03-03-04-04-06-08-06-06-07-07-06-04-05-03-03-07-10-10-10 | 25 wks 25 WEEKS this spent on my chart and it never reached higher than #3 though to be fair it peaked there twice in two stretches. What is most impressive about this fact, is that this album charted off the back of one song alone and that was the sublime Ceilings. It was a perfect song to break up the monotonous chart in 2022/2023. The album itself was quite good but the monstrous run of Ceilings helped this chart longer than some slightly better albums which just goes to show how much I enjoyed that song.
February 25, 20241 yr Author 04 Georgia - Euphoric | 538,000 sales 2023 Chart Run • 04-01-01-01-01-01-01-02-02-03-03-03-04-05-05-05 | 16 wks The first 16 weeks of Euphoric were monstrous on my chart. 16 weeks spent top 5, 6 of which were at #1. It was one of my longest uninterrupted #1 albums of last year. I think the reason I like this album is because the music is similar to Chvrches music. This feels like an unofficial album of chvrches, so to speak. Now that's not to diminish Georgia at all because that is very high praise indeed. Chvrches are one of my favourite artists and to be compared to them in my eyes is of the utmost highest praise. There were so many good songs on Euphoric. From Mountain Song to The Dream which I think became the longest running song from that album on my chart last year. I'm excited for Georgia's new material and if too much too little is anything to go by, there's a lot to look forward to this year.

That's how many weeks I listened to this album for in a row last year. 34. Now if you'd told me in 2022 that Mimi Webb would release one of my favourite albums of 2023 I'd probably have scoffed. Her debut material was absolute dross and I couldn't care less for her. She released impeccable single choices from this album and I honestly think she could be even bigger than she is, provided she doesn't turn any old pop song into a Christmas song again. I don't think I've heard a more perfect run of singles like House on Fire, Ghost Of You and Red Flags since the singles from Taylors 1989 when she released a slew of hit singles, each one better than the last. In fact, much like that case with 1989 I proclaimed that each subsequent single was my absolute favourite from her with Red Flags becoming one of the most massive songs on my chart since I joined Buzzjack. If Mimi Webb manages to release an album on par with this one this year, I would be so impressed. If she tops it I imagine I'll be fangirling her like I do Taylor. Topping Amelia is a tall order though so I won't hold my breath on that one.

A lot of people were probably expecting this to be #1 and to be fair, the album very nearly was my #1 album of the year until a certain someone released one of their best albums and overtook it at the last minute, helped by multiple weeks at #1. Back to this album though, it's perfect. Amazing. I'm not surprised I loved this as much as I did unlike Amelia. I've already heard Tove Lo for years, this just happens to be her magnum opus. There is no way on this earth she will ever top this album. With singles like 'No One Dies From Love's which is absolutely her best ever single, Grapefruit and I Like U, how could this not be a magnificent album? Unfortunately at the time, I found Too Long to be a bit naff but it's grown on me immensely since its initial release. What absolutely miffs me is how this didn't chart in the UK. The song no one dies from love, should have helped the album chart all by itself. Such an underrated superstar.

THE BEST ALBUM OF 2023, THE SECOND BEST ALBUM OF TAYLORS CAREER AND THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR, MUSICALLY. How could it be anyone other than Taylor that stole the #1 this year. The era started off incredibly strong with Anti-Hero which in an absolutely insane moment gave Taylor her second ever #1 single. How crazy is that to have been releasing music for 17 years and to only have claimed 2 #1 singles after having so many hits under her belt already. Lavender Haze & Karma were neither here nor there for me because the best songs remained on the album. Labyrinth & Mastermind are two of her very best tracks unfortunately relegated to album songs rather than getting released in their own right. 2023 was the year Taylor owned the world. 2024, she's conquer the universe.

This was the start of the Taylor & Kylie invasion. Both have many songs still to come mind you. Speaking of, could either of these have a song at my 2023 EOY #1? Kylie has 1 song top 10 and Taylor has 2. What and where could they end up? Me & My Guitar is probably my least favourite if the tracks in this section. That's only because I can't recall what Adore U sounds like  I'm here all week folks!

This is also the first track on my EOY to place in the top 10 at any point of its 2023 Chart Run. the first? Or second? Of the Eurovision tracks to drop out? Blood & glitter was such a massive bop! I've no idea why I charted Dance In The Dark but it still remains one of my favourite Lady Gaga songs to this day.

Heck there was a lot of bests last year. Taylor released the best version of 1989 with amazing vault tracks. Her best vault tracks. The 1989 TV tracks are starting to appear now because it debuted towards the end of my EOY Chart Year. These are all ones to watch in my 2024 EOY. Smoke never really took off on my chart as much as I liked it. It's quite ironic isn't it since smoke usually floats high. Hold On To Now was Kylie's 3rd single from tension and I really wanted to like it. The fans went rabbid for the track and I never quite got the hype. I retired the song in favour of a remix which should make my chart for 2024. Nathan Evans continued his trend of releasing generic ass songs. Funnily enough he has quite a good one that's just released. I think I'll definitely be charting that one though time will tell how it does relative to anything else he's released that I've actually charted.

I really like the synthy sound that they've experimented with. It's just a shame that they scrapped the album full of tracks like this. I was quite surprised that The TV of Out Of The Woods didn't stick with me longer than it did. I charted this song for 67 weeks in its initial run so that may have something to do with it but all the same I was surprised. Don't Say Love by Leigh-Anne was alright wasn't it but let's be honest. It wasn't little mix big massive hit material was it. That's Jesy & Leigh-Anne both release subpar songs and I can't say I'm happy about it. Side Effects for me was a shaky start to the era for Becky. It's alright at best for me. I didn't even bother to chart Disconnect BUT her new one is a banger. Expect that to do big things on my 2024 EOY.

Skipping like a stone was a great ol synthy bop from The Chemical Brothers as well. Couldn't really ask for more last year. I absolutely adore I Wanna Be Software despite the low peak for it here. I've no idea what happened there. I absolutely love grimes but even for her this was so left field and on the nose. How you leave a man was alright at best but I must say I think this is my least favourite era so far from Paloma. There are bops on the album like Bad Woman and Cry On The Dance Floor but come on Pavlova. You're better than this. Divorce is alright as well I suppose. I adore on my love. Don't let that low peak fool you with that one either. It's Zara's best song in quite some time.

I'm a big fan of holly humberstone as well. Is it over now has only just finally gotten to the point where I'm starting to tire of the song. It should place quite well in the 2024 EOY. Is it over now wasn't my favourite of the vault tracks initially. It did grow to be my favourite for a while and then was displaced again by sat don't go. Spalarkle is another of those tracks that just didn't receive the recognition on my chart that it deserves despite my loving the song.

I think? It was a long year! Anyway, I think that was the reason this did so poorly because objectively it is quite a good song. It's unfortunately overshadowed by it's predecessor. This Moment was a nice song from Mimi. an OST song if I'm not mistaken. Antichrist is good. Probably up there among her best songs for me. Maybe you're the problem charts for the second year in a row however, it falls 98 places from #4 in 2022 to #102 in 2023.
