291 Rosie Darling & Boy In Space - Nail in the Coffin | 14-x

292 Taylor Roche - lovemesober | 20-37-x

293 44phantom - i feel like crying | 28-34-28-x

294 Trevor Daniel - SYL | 18-36-x

295 Leigh-Anne - Don't Say Love | 15-x

296 Bebe Rexha - Heart Wants What It Wants | 12-x

297 LUNARS - Hey! Wait! | 17-x

298 GUS - Pluto | 16-x

299 Carrie Underwood - Take Me Out | 20-x

300 Shawn Mendes - WHAT THE HELL ARE WE DYING FOR ? | 14-x

I'm gonna whizz through some of these early sections as I'm WAY behind on last year and most of these tracks were pretty fleeting moments across the year for me, but I wanted to give them a mention regardless and it's why I continue to do such a long countdown. Shawn Mendes is bottom of the pack with his standalone track inspired by the Canadian wildfires. It's a lovely song but far from being among his best. Leigh-Anne's debut single didn't wow me like I hoped it would, but her second single is still to come, and Bebe Rexha bettered this era's lead single a few times too so expect to see her pop up a few more times. Trevor Daniel makes his only appearance of the year in this section, as do the newly renamed LUNARS, formerly known as The Lunar Year, the side project of The Vamps' Connor Ball.

Despite releasing two songs as primary artist in 2023, the only one of his three releases Boy In Space acknowledged on social media was his collaboration with Rosie Darling, which by quite some way is my least favourite of the three. 44phantom had a big breakthrough year in my chart and sees six songs in my top 300, with i feel like crying being one of the *very* small selection of tracks to appear despite not making my top 20. Taylor Roche had a fleeting moment with lovemesober this time last year, and Carrie Underwood scored a couple of top 20 hits from the deluxe edition of Denim & Rhinestones, with Take Me Out showing up first at #299. Finally, GUS makes his first appearance of three with Pluto, which I reheard for the first time in a while and am wondering if I've been too harsh on, but I'm sticking to how I felt across the bulk of 2023 for now...!!

281 Lewis Capaldi - Pointless | 26-x-39-19-35-x

282 Griff - Astronaut | 17-x

283 Henry Moodie - orbit | 18-x

284 Alexander 23 - How to Drive | 17-x

285 347aidan - candyflips! | 16-x

286 Big Brovaz feat. Citi Boy - Controlla | 21-23-x

287 Greyson Chance - Sex & Other Drugs | 20-x

288 Loud Luxury, Two Friends & Bebe Rexha - If Only I | 18-x

289 Jordan Suaste - sleep | 13-x

290 Kamal. - free flow | 17-x

After first charting in 2021 with the gorgeous lose, Kamal. had his biggest year so far with two top 20 hits. The catchy free flow is the first to fall, at #290. Bebe Rexha already loses her second song with Loud Luxury and Two Friends collaboration If Only I, a fun bop but a bit generic. Lewis Capaldi and Alexander 23 make their only appearances of 2023, the former with my favourite song from his second album and the latter with a cute standalone track, while 347aidan achieved his second top 20 hit with a catchy tune produced by brakence.

Greyson Chance released the deluxe edition of his third studio album Palladium in 2023, and the first of the two new songs to appear on it shows up at #287 here. Jordan Suaste also appears twice overall, with the pretty depressing sleep being his first song to drop out, and Griff loses her first song of two with the cute Astronaut. One of the biggest breakout stars of 2023, Henry Moodie's orbit ranks below three of his other 2023 songs but I like its anthemic vibe a lot! Finally, though it came out in 2021, Big Brovaz scored a surprise first hit with Controlla. I discovered the song as a result of its featured artist Citi Boy, aka Bradley McIntosh from S Club! It's a surprisingly solid tune, if definitely produced on a budget.

271 Chris Lanzon - Rollercoaster | 15-40-x

272 heyboy - Locked in Love | 20-x

273 Sugababes - Boys | 19-25-x

274 Rxseboy - clouds | 19-x

275 The Kid LAROI & d4vd - THE LINE | 24-34-x

276 Anne-Marie feat. Khalid - YOU & I | 12-x

277 Budjerah - Therapy | 19-36-x

278 Bebe Rexha - Call on Me | 12-x

279 Sam Ryder - Mountain | 17-x

280 Bailey Zimmerman - Rock and a Hard Place | 17-40-x

It's three sections in a row for Bebe Rexha, as bop Call On Me falls out at #278. It's a fun track but a lesser Sacrifice for me. Also making multiple appearances across the countdown are Sugababes and The Kid LAROI, both of whom lose their first tracks from their huge album drops across the year, while Anne-Marie's touching ballad YOU & I is her first of five to go. As lovely as it is, I'm glad it wasn't pushed as a proper single, I don't think it would've taken off sadly.

Three artists in this section made their very first appearances in my chart in 2023. Country star Bailey Zimmerman had a huge hit in the US with Rock and a Hard Place, and it hit the top 20 in my chart, which is pretty good for a male country artist usually but there's actually two more to come! Australian singer Budjerah had his first hit with Therapy in early 2023, and heyboy, an American singer/songwriter, scored two top 40 hits in the same week, with Locked in Love being the highest peaking. He's not charted again since, but I do need to check out his EP! Wrapping up the section, Chris Lanzon scored a second top 20 hit when I heard his EP Dark Side, Rxseboy returned with a track from his latest project bloom, and Sam Ryder scored his second biggest hit to date with the anthemic Mountain.

I definitely overlooked Bebe's music last year but 'Heart Wants What It Wants' was on the US Now CD I just listened to and I was really impressed, one of Bebe's many songs to deserve big things but be paid dust. I had the opposite reaction to you regarding Leigh-Anne's singles, 'My Love' underwhelmed me whereas 'Don't Say Love' was everything I hoped for from her!

I didn't realize you charted Bailey Zimmerman multiple times last year! He's not a huge fave of mine but everything I've heard has been solid.

It's nice to see some Bebe Rexha tracks appear. 'Heart Wants What It Wants' and 'Call On Me' are both fun listens. It's a shame that she can only seem to get any sort of recognition for her features on big dance hits.

My other favourite so far is 'Don't Say Love'. It's nowhere near the level as Little Mix's best but I'm definitely preferring Leigh-Anne's solo work to Jesy's so far. I can't wait to hear what Jade & Perrie have to offer.

Of what I know from those three groups. 'Don't Say Love' is quite good and 'Mountain' is also but far from Sam's best. Was good to see him manage a top 40 with it and to think that would be it for him this year :kink:

Think my wording was a little unclear, Bailey's only charted once but I have a couple more male country songs to come! (unusual for people not called Hunter Hayes  ) Thanks for the reply Jord!!

Thanks so much for the reply Lewis! Leigh-Anne's music is definitely better than Jesy's, not totally loving anything yet though. Hopefully Jade and Perrie deliver, they're the two I'm most excited about.

Nice to see Mountain appear here! A fab song to perform at Eurovision and great to see him get his second Top 40 hit with it as well.

Thanks Pete, I agree very much!

261 Taylor Swift feat. Ice Spice - Karma | 14-31-x

262 Sugababes - Today | 17-27-x

263 Arden Jones - young dumb | 18-22-36-x

264 Mimi Webb - Freezing | 17-29-35-x

265 Charli XCX & Sam Smith - In the City | 19-37-x

266 Bebe Rexha & Snoop Dogg - Satellite | 19-25-36-x

267 The Kid LAROI - YOU | 26-33-x

268 Thomas Headon - Georgia | 23-20-33-x

269 Alicia Keys - Lifeline | 20-23-…

270 Ouse - Why Did You Tell Me That You Loved Me? | 14-x

I went to see Powfu live for the first time in 2023, and one of his support acts was frequent collaborator Ouse. I'd heard his album Crying in Camo, from 2022, but didn't take much of it in aside from Powfu collaboration Too Many Problems. After his live set, I was really taken by the distorted banger Why Did You Tell Me That You Loved Me?, which saw its first chart entry after the gig. Alicia Keys also benefited from a live boost, with Lifeline making my top 20 after I saw her at Capital's Jingle Bell Ball! Though it didn't re-chart after seeing them live, I've heard Sugababes perform Today a couple of times this year, and once before it came out in 2022 (at that point, I had no idea it was going to be released just a couple of months later!), and I also saw Bebe Rexha live in 2023, with Satellite being one of the best performances of the night.

The Kid LAROI drops another album track with YOU, a good showing for a song that didn't make my top 20. The chart runs are starting to get a bit longer in this section, with particularly good runs for the Arden Jones and Mimi Webb tracks in this section, the former arriving during the busy summer period and the latter being Mimi's biggest hit to date. Thomas Headon also did reasonably well with breakthrough hit Georgia, it's his first song to appear of three this year. Rounding out the section are songs by Charli XCX and Taylor Swift, both of whom have better tracks to appear later in the countdown but I enjoy the fun factor both of these songs bring (facts x).

251 Bebe Rexha & David Guetta - One in a Million | 22-18-19-24-36-x

252 Dillon Francis & Arden Jones - I'm My Only Friend | 30-23-39-x

253 Waterparks feat. blackbear - FUCK ABOUT IT | 24-21-40-x

254 Libianca - People | 20-27-x

255 Noah Kahan - Stick Season | 13-24-29-…

256 Zara Larsson - Can't Tame Her | 30-x-40-37-x-28-33-x

257 Niall Horan - Heaven | 14-29-x

258 Thomas Headon - W4NNA DO | 13-x

259 Zara Larsson & David Guetta - On My Love | 32-x-29-25-19-22-…

260 Ruel - LIE | 24-x

There's a few songs in this section that didn't make my top 20, which I've said a few times is a rarity but feels more common than usual this year! Ruel kicks the section off with one of the highlights from his 4TH WALL album, while another Arden Jones track drops out, this time being his collaboration with Dillon Francis. The peak of that song is quite misleading in all fairness, it was released the same week I saw S Club live (the first date of three), so was significantly overshadowed. Nevertheless, it didn't quite recover in the end but deserved a top 20 peak at the very least (oh, and it definitely sounds like it's another sample of Robert Miles' Children, but this doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere online? ). Waterparks scored their biggest hit so far with FUCK ABOUT IT, and Zara Larsson had a very slow-burning hit with Can't Tame Her, which peaked at #28 in its third stint in my chart but clearly deserved a higher peak. It's just ahead of her more recent release On My Love, which hit the top 20 the week before the final 2023 chart to count for my EOY.

Elsewhere, we have a few chart hits in this section. Libianca's People was one of the biggest hits of 2023, and while it didn't quite hit those heights in my chart, a top 20 peak does make it the best performing afrobeats song in my chart's history. Niall Horan's Heaven outdid its UK peak in my chart but had a small fraction of the longevity, still enough to be his only song in my EOY countdown though. At the end of the year, after a bit of time to grow on me, Noah Kahan hit the top 20 with Stick Season belatedly! It's still charting now and could even go higher if it gets lucky. Concluding the section, away from the charts, are Thomas Headon's second track to feature (the third and final one is a fair way away yet) and, for the fifth section in a row, a Bebe Rexha track  this one is her highest track this year, none quite managing to go top 10 but One in a Million showed the best legs by far.

241 Stephen Dawes - Happiest Girl | 40-19-23-26-x

242 Carrie Underwood - Out of That Truck | 12-23-x

243 Ruel - SET YOURSELF ON FIRE | 20-x

244 Ava Max - Choose Your Fighter | 20-x

245 Averagekidluke feat. Turisti - Rich Man | 15-…

246 BLANKA - Solo | 12-37-x

247 Charlie Puth feat. Dan + Shay - That’s Not How This Works | 10-28-x

248 Lancelot - Mörkret är min bästa vän | 14-16-x

249 Sugababes - I'm Alright | 14-21-x

250 Henry Moodie - pick up the phone | 11-36-x

#11 peaks are actually quite rare in my chart. Usually, I'll always favour a new song in my top 10 over a song that's already peaked there, but as early summer really delivered on the music front, there was little room to accommodate Henry Moodie's pick up the phone. It's a lovely track though! He has three tracks left to come, all three of which hit the top 10. Also just missing out, though by a little more than Henry did, was Carrie Underwood's Out of That Truck, a fun single to kick-off the deluxe release of Denim & Rhinestones, but it wasn't much new by Carrie's standards. Speaking of the top tier, we lose our first top 10 hit in this section. After an enormous year in 2022, Charlie Puth's 2023 was a little quieter, with both his top 10s being quite fleeting. That's Not How This Works was a very brief moment, though. It started promisingly but ended up scraping my top 10 and dropping fast. It was a first top 10 hit for Dan + Shay, though! Averagekidluke makes his first appearance of two with new track Rich Man, which is heading for a top 10 peak now the Christmas hype has died away for me, so I may allow this one to chart again next year.

Eurovision had a big year in my chart, as you'll see as we go through the countdown, and the first song to drop from those that made my chart is at #246 from BLANKA. Barbie also dominated my chart, with numerous more songs from its soundtrack to feature later on, and Ava Max kicks us off with her first appearance of three. Sugababes feature again with an album track from The Lost Tapes, as does Ruel with my favourite non-single from his album. Lancelot added a new track to his album after its release, the gorgeous Mörkret är min bästa vän, which hit my top 20 upon release. It wasn't pushed as a single so came as a curious addition but no complaints when it's a brilliant song! He has another track to feature later. Finally, making his chart debut this year was Stephen Dawes, with the romantic Happiest Girl, a top 20 hit at the end of summer.

Don’t Say Love, YOU & I, Freezing & Satellite are some of absolute favourites of the year so great to see them in your countdown albeit towards the bottom! Great to see Anne-Marie, Olivia & Ava pretty high up in your albums too

Looking forward to following the rest! <3

Bebe flopping 5 times in a row :cheeseblock:

Good to see 'Choose Your Fighter', 'People' and 'free flow' making appearances so far :jump:

poor brave Bebe Rexha: my fave from her in the year (besides 'I'm Good' continuing its run) was surprisingly not the Guetta collab but 'Call On Me' did a bit more for me.

the two Zara tracks are quite alright, I'd put 'Can't Tame Her' just above 'On My Love' myself but neither ended up making my mainstream 75 list.

'People' is quite lovely, I suppose it assists the point of the song but I wish its production had a bit more to it though.

'Stick Season' I'm quite getting into now and it's pleasing to see it be such a big UK hit now.

'In the City' I've got quite high in my chart at the moment albeit due to a remix, anyhow it deserved a bit more for Charli as I prefer even the original over 'Speed Drive'

'Solo' was a good bit of fun novelty for Eurovision too but wore off fairly quickly post-contest

231 David Guetta, Anne-Marie & Coi Leray - Baby Don't Hurt Me | 9-19-34-x

232 Cledos feat. Isac Elliot - Kuka se on | 10-x

233 Michaël Brun, Anne-Marie & Becky G - Coming Your Way | 15-11-16-35-x

234 Benson Boone - Coffee Cake | 17-x

235 Benjamin - Minä-Minä-Maa | 12-35-x

236 Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary | 38-19-14-27-x

237 Ava Max - Ghost | 15-29-x

238 Kenya Grace - Strangers | 13-23-40-x

239 Mariette - One Day | 18-27-20-28-x

240 Steve Aoki & Paris Hilton - Lighter | 14-23-24-x

It's double Anne-Marie with a couple of features in this section. Baby Don't Hurt Me is the higher of the two, maligned on Buzzjack and not one of David Guetta's absolute best for sure, but it was fun and serviceable. Coming Your Way, the first hit for Michaël Brun, didn't quite make my top 10 but had a slightly longer run. They're almost side-by-side at the end of the year, with only the first appearance from Isac Elliot this year to separate them, returning the favour to Cledos who helped make Isac's 20min a massive hit in Finland. It's one of two Finnish language tracks in this section, with Benjamin's second hit of 2023 after a few years of absence.

With a big year for Eurovision, there was also a big year for Melodifestivalen, and the first song to appear is from Mariette. I don't like it as much as her previous entry Shout It Out, which hit the top 10 on my chart, but it felt underrated in the context of the contest. Ava Max's Ghost is the lower charting of the two Diamonds & Dancefloors tracks to chart, while Benson Boone appears with his lowest entry, his EP track Coffee Cake. Kenya Grace had a big breakthrough in the UK chart with Strangers, which hit the top 15 in my chart, while Paris Hilton escorted Steve Aoki to a second hit (following his #1 hit with Louis Tomlinson in 2016). Finally, after going viral in late 2022, Lady Gaga's 2011 album track Bloody Mary became a belated single and a belated hit, charting for me for the first time!

224 Bankrol Hayden feat. charlieonnafriday & Arden Jones - Can't Change for You | 8-21-40-x

225 Bizarrap & Shakira - Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 | 17-19-26-35-x

226 Alessandra - Queen of Kings | 13-20-x

227 Peder Elias - Twinkle Twinkle | 16-21-x

228 44phantom - f.u.n! | 17-25-x

229 Isac Elliot feat. SANNI - Riidellään | 7-29-38-x

230 Declan McKenna - Sympathy | 9-21-40-x

In Bebe Rexha style, Ava Max loses all three of her songs in three consecutive sections. One of Us was her highest charting song of the year, with its infectious hook seeing it into the top 10. Also finishing up in this section are Declan McKenna, who makes his only appearance of the year with catchy lead single Sympathy, a Eurovision bop from Alessandra, and one of the earliest viral smashes of the year from Bizarrap and Shakira, which gave the latter her highest charting Spanish-language hit to date. Bankrol Hayden also appears only once in this countdown with the first hit he's placed in my chart, with collaborator charlieonnafriday not providing any further hits either (though he peaked at #6 in 2022 with his single Enough), but Arden Jones still has multiple appearances to come.

Another Isac Elliot track drops, this time being the cute ballad Riidellään, while 44phantom's second appearance means all four of his tracks still in are top 10 hits (f.u.n! stands for "fuck u now" btw xx). Sugababes also lose their last remaining non-top 10 hit of the year, while Cub Sport provide the lowest charting song to make my EOY, with the stunning Magic in U only getting to #31 in my weekly chart but maintaining regular plays across the year! Lastly, Peder Elias appears for the first time of two, both of which are his takes on nursery rhymes intriguingly. It works better than you'd expect on both occasions, but Twinkle Twinkle couldn't quite get the momentum to peak in my top 10.

211 Knox - Love Letter | 8-18-38-x

212 glaive - 17250 | 20-21-28-31-x

213 Leigh-Anne feat. Ayra Starr - My Love | 13-14-27-x

214 will.i.am & Britney Spears - MIND YOUR BUSINESS | 9-18-x

215 Knox - NYC | 7-20-40-x

216 Powfu & Ollie - crow's nest | 10-18-x

217 Dosey - Who I Am | 15-24-19-26-33-x

218 David Kushner - Dead Man | 8-19-32-x

219 Theoz - Någon annan | 13-26-x

220 Greyson Chance - Herringbone | 6-15-26-x

A few artists show up for the first time in this section, including Knox who charts twice, one song from each EP he released (NYC was the final single from How to Lose a Girl in 7 Songs, while Love Letter kicked off the I'm So Good At Being Alone? era), while Theoz appears for the first time of four with the catchy Någon annan, glaive for the first time of six with the chaotic 17250, and Powfu for the first time of ten (!) with one of three hits from his first project of the year, the EP tell me your feelings and i won't tell you mine pt. 2. David Kushner also had a particularly good 2023, with his first top 10 hit arriving, but more on that one later as its follow-up Dead Man hit my top 10 too, albeit with a more brief chart run.

Elsewhere in this section, lofi artist Dosey scored a long-running top 20 hit with a relatable track about self-worth. It was his first hit and is his only to appear here. My favourite of Leigh-Anne's two singles so far still didn't quite make my top 10 but it did have a better run than Don't Say Love. My Love also gave Ayra Starr her first and only hit so far (and an argument could definitely be made that this is the highest charting afrobeats song in my chart's history, not Libianca's People as I mentioned before...!). Greyson Chance led the deluxe edition of Palladium with the suitably lush Herringbone which became the era's fourth top 10 in my chart, and will.i.am dug out an old track recorded with Britney Spears to unleash for some reason. Do I think it's any good? Not really, but do I stan anyway? Absolutely. Manjobee x

Hi Joseph, hadn't realised 'Stick Season' peaked a place higher on your weekly chart than mine (albeit from a shorter run)! Also happy to see 'One Of Us' as the top Ava song.

Hi Joseph, hadn't realised 'Stick Season' peaked a place higher on your weekly chart than mine (albeit from a shorter run)! Also happy to see 'One Of Us' as the top Ava song.

Thanks for the reply Jim! Stick Season didn't do much for me for a while then it suddenly hit me, I think it was through Northern Attitude catching my attention that I then thought I'd give the album a spin. Now I prefer Stick Season to Northern Attitude...!

201 Isac Elliot feat. ibe - Kaks | 7-14-21-25-x

202 Charlie Puth - Lipstick | 9-18-35-x

203 Dua Lipa - Dance the Night | 20-x-35-12-17-35-x

204 44phantom - fmu | 10-23-38-x

205 Alyssa Reid - Sleep Without You | 10-22-27-x

206 The Kid LAROI - WHAT WENT WRONG??? | 12-23-36-x

207 The Kid LAROI - TEAR ME APART | 11-27-x

208 Tom Odell - Somebody Else | 25-13-20-27-x

209 Powfu & Skinny Atlas - no balls | 8-21-36-39-x

210 Theoz - Bara lite grann (Sommar igen) | 10-14-37-x

Most artists in here have already popped up at least once. Theoz makes appearance two of four quickly after his first show, though this one scraped the top 10 in early summer. Isac Elliot loses another song at the top of the section, this time with the first track he released in 2023. ibe is his only collaborator from the last couple of years to have charted in my top 40 away from Isac, featuring on Benjamin's Naarmuja, a #30 hit in 2018. We lose two The Kid LAROI album tracks; of the two, TEAR ME APART debuted higher, but WHAT WENT WRONG??? spent one more week in my top 40 and ends up a spot higher here. I love the high energy of the latter, but it was a little more of a grower! Powfu's no balls confused me at first. With a tongue in cheek lyric at the start of the song ("I have no testicles"), it set an odd tone, before proceeding to be a pretty great track more in line with Powfu's usual vibe. I can see past that opening line but I'm still not huge on that particular section. Either way, it made my top 10, but is far from being his top track of the year. I really like the vibe of 44phantom's fmu, it's more poppy than the music I'd heard from him at the top of 2023 but I think it's a really smooth track and it suits him well. Additionally, Charlie Puth loses his second hit of two. Lipstick was smooth and sensual but I didn't go back to it as much as I thought I would in the end.

On the flipside, some artists are showing up for the first time. Tom Odell has four appearances this year, and Somebody Else was a pretty unlucky one for him. It missed out on the top 10 on its debut week due to the S Club tour boost, and it just couldn't quite claw its way in on week 2! Alyssa Reid scored two top 10s in 2023 with a couple of great dance-pop songs, with Sleep Without You being the first to go. I was a bit underwhelmed by Dua Lipa's Dance the Night initially, and I maintain it sounds like a Future Nostalgia leftover (I know it's not one x), but I really grew to enjoy it in the context of the Barbie film and it's actually not tired on me since. She still has Houdini to come.

191 Alexa Cappelli feat. Knox - Backwards | 9-29-39-x

192 44phantom - ugly | 8-16-32-x

193 glaive - im nothing thats all i am | 19-6-17-29-x

194 44phantom - cherry cigarettes | 7-19-26-34-x

195 Knox feat. Charlotte Sands - We’re Not in Love Anymore | 10-15-21-37-x

196 Isac Elliot - Sua Ei Oo | 9-…

197 The Kid LAROI - NIGHTS LIKE THIS | 10-19-32-x

198 Theoz - Otursdag | 12-18-17-26-27-x

199 Tori Kelly - missin u | 9-20-40-x

200 Torine - see u in hell | 9-18-31-x

Some of those familiar names continue to appear in this section as the fleeting top 10 hits start to clear out en masse. Knox returns two more times in this section, losing his two collaborations from 2023. He enlisted Charlotte Sands for the third single from his I'm So Good At Being Alone? EP for a really great pop/rock midtempo, while he lent his vocals to Alexa Cappelli's Backwards, giving both of his collaborators their first chart hit. Isac Elliot goes from losing his first hit of 2023 to his last, with the lovely Sua Ei Oo only hitting my top 10 on cut-off week. While competing in Melodifestivalen, Theoz dropped the catchy Otursdag in collaboration with Roblox, and though it didn't make the top 10, it became more enduring than a couple of his later hits! 44phantom loses another two tracks, from the really great pop midtempo ugly, to the pop/rock cherry cigarettes. He has just one more song left, but that's not for a while!

Tori Kelly made a barnstorming return to my chart in 2023 with her first top 10 hit since 2015 #1 hit Nobody Love! missin u is so brilliantly late 90s/early 00s in its sound and it suits her to a T. The Kid LAROI's album produced a top 10 hit in the criminally short NIGHTS LIKE THIS; with an extended track length, I think it'd be a contender for one of my favourite songs on the album! glaive's im nothing thats all i am is the first of his pre-release tracks from this era to fall, and it's a pretty lively and fun track (sonically at least x). Just scraping into the top 200 is one of my few BJSC entries this year. I'd been wanting to send Torine for a few years as I've liked a few of her songs now, but the pop/rock vibes of see u in hell weren't enough for any sort of success sadly.

181 Enisa - Just a Kiss (Muah) | 33-8-15-34-x

182 Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana | 32-23-15-25-37-x

183 Henry Moodie - fight or flight | 9-21-29-34-x

184 Anson Seabra - If December Never Ends | 7-19-30-x

185 Felly feat. Arden Jones - Crying in Sunshine | 5-13-27-x

186 The Kid LAROI - WHERE DOES YOUR SPIRIT GO? | 4-14-28-x-30-x

187 glaive - the car | 5-18-26-31-x

188 Henry Moodie - drunk text | 10-18-38-x

189 Arden Jones - can't be my friend | 7-17-32-x

190 Kamal. - essential | 8-18-27-x

As top 10 hits are almost totally drowning out the non-top 10s now, we lose our first top 5 hits in this section. With three out in one go, it's probably no real bad reflection on these songs, they were just a little more fleeting. glaive's the car was another loud, catchy track and a highlight from his album, while Arden Jones teamed up with Felly to give the latter his first ever hit (and Arden his first top 5) on the smooth Crying in Sunshine. Sandwiched between them is a touching ballad from The KID LAROI, not a song that lends itself to many repeated listens but it's an important track regardless. Arden appears again with his own track can't be my friend, a top 10 hit in the middle of the year.

Two Henry Moodie tracks lose out in this section, with late 2023 hit fight or flight just beating out his first top 10 hit drunk text. This leaves just one more Henry song in the running, and it's not due to show for a while! Anson Seabra delivered a festive ballad for the second year running, and it's his lowest song of five but it did outpeak his 2022 effort Christmas List by one place in my weekly chart. Kamal.'s highest peaking track to date arrived in January 2023, and I loved the vibe of essential from the start, from the production to his soft vocal contrasting with the sharp lyrics. Higher up the section, Peggy Gou delivered a summer bop that I just couldn't resist even if I wanted to, and though it didn't make my top 10, it's undoubtedly one of the best showings for a chart dance hit in my personal chart in 2023. Closing out the section is a trashpop banger from Enisa which samples Holly Valance's anthem Kiss Kiss that hit my top 10 in the first week of 2023. It works so much better than expected. Huge thanks to RobBot for showing it to me x

171 Michael Schulte & R3HAB - Better Me | 6-19-33-39-x

172 Powfu, Cody Lawless & Milkshakes in the Valley - walk on wine | 14-8-12-37-x

173 Kylie Minogue - Vegas High | 9-16-20-x

174 Isac Elliot & william - Missaat Mut | 7-14-22-33-x

175 Sugababes - Love Me Hard | 10-15-34-x

176 Powfu & Jomie feat. Skinny Atlas - life in a locker | 7-13-21-33-x

177 Peder Elias - Row Your Boat | 7-13-23-30-x

178 Andreas Wijk - I miss somebody who's not missing me | 7-16-37-x

179 Powfu - keep our love alive | 7-15-20-29-32-x

180 Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday Girls | 12-11-…

As far as my EOY goes, we kick this section off with a pretty curious case. My current #1 single is Pink Friday Girls by Nicki Minaj, which ascended to the top spot just a week after my cut-off point. Instead of excluding it and waiting for next year, or belatedly bumping it up, I'm choosing to let Pink Friday Girls count here based solely off those two weeks it hovered outside my top 10, and it'll count again next year! Of course, Nicki has another huge hit to come later on. We lose a trip of Powfu songs in this sections, completing a clean sweep of two of his projects from 2023. The lush keep our love alive and lowkey bop of life in a locker finish off the singles run from tell me your feelings and i won't tell you mine pt. 2, while the very catchy walk on wine finishes the highest of the tracks from Powfu's album Gathered By the Lantern. He still has another five songs remaining!

One of my highlights from Kylie Minogue's album was the bouncy Vegas High, which debuted on arrival in my chart top 10, actually peaking higher than one of the singles from the album (Hold On to Now only got to #31). We're into the Sugababes album tracks that hit my top 10 with Love Me Hard, one of the tracks I'd heard live just a couple of months before The Lost Tapes dropped. Peder Elias' unexpectedly savage version of Row Your Boat was his first top 10 hit in three years, and Andreas Wijk followed up his biggest hit to date at the end of 2022 with another top 10 hit in 2023, his first ever back-to-back of top 10s. Isac Elliot quickly dropped a track with his former 20min collaborator william after the release of his album, and it was another consistent top 10. It leaves him with one further song to feature. Finally, the first of two team-ups between Michael Schulte and R3HAB closes the section, having just missed out on a top 5 position in my weekly chart.

161 Black Sands & KOOLKID - Hollywood Heartbeats | 7-…

162 Olivia Rodrigo - vampire | 7-25-36-x

163 Kiana - Where Did You Go | 10-19-16-25-38-x

164 Taylor Swift - All of the Girls You Loved Before | 8-19-34-x

165 KID E$s, MoeTheKidd & bittersweet - Good Enough | 5-20-38-x

166 Will Linley - Gracie | 11-12-20-29-40-x

167 Sugababes - Drum | 7-11-26-x

168 Isac Elliot feat. Costi - Kompastun | 9-14-22-30-34-x

169 Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion - Bongos | 7-15-35-x

170 Jacob Sartorius - High | 4-11-25-x

After a surprising revival in 2022, Jacob Sartorius scored a couple of hits in 2023. The highest peaking was, appropriately, High, but it's not his highest track here. It is the highest appearance for Isac Elliot in this section though, with the infectious Kompastun continuing his impressive top 10 streak. Sugababes kicked off The Lost Tapes with the really catchy Drum, the perfect choice for opening track, and Olivia Rodrigo's powerful vampire brought her back with a bang. She has one more song to come, but this is the highest from GUTS. Taylor Swift also has another song still in the running, but her Lover rarity All of the Girls You Loved Before was her highest charting of her eligible songs this year (Enchanted returned to #1 thanks to the release of its Taylor's Version but I've opted not to count those as they're effectively the same songs as those I've loved for years).

Teaming up a second time, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion didn't come near the #1 peak of WAP, but Bongos did see them both back into the top 10 for their only hit each this year. Kiana hit the top 10 for the first time after an enthusiastic and irresistible Melodifestivalen performance, and Ryan Lawrie, aka KOOLKID, scored his highest peaking track under this artist name when he teamed up with producer Black Sands for the smooth Hollywood Heartbeats, a great summer track that came out in the middle of December...! After breaking through with a Powfu collaboration in early 2023 (still to come), KID E$s returned as primary artist alongside MoeTheKidd on collaboration Good Enough, which gave the former his second top 5 hit on the bounce and the latter his first ever hit. Finally, among all of these top 10 hits is the final track that didn't quite hit the top tier. Released in the busiest summer period, Will Linley just couldn't quite hit the top tier with the romantic Gracie, spending two weeks just outside it, but being the highest non-top 10 hit is something of a consolation prize. He has two actual top 10s still to appear.

151 Sugababes - I Lay Down | 6-7-22-x

152 Kesha - Eat the Acid | 6-12-27-32-x

153 Jacob Sartorius - Cowboys | 7-16-35-x

154 Alyssa Reid - Die for Love | 8-17-27-37-x

155 Noa Kirel - Unicorn | 38-8-19-x

156 Powfu, Ouse & Snøw - wallflower | 5-11-15-18-22-31-x

157 Benjamin - Hoida mut | 6-15-24-32-x

158 Tate McRae - exes | 14-9-12-16-27-…

159 ILLENIUM, Avril Lavigne & Travis Barker - Eyes Wide Shut | 40-20-10-13-21-30-x

160 Coi Leray - Players | 24-18-15-10-16-23-36-x

We reach the end of the bottom half of the countdown now as the bigger hits start to drop! Coi Leray saw a UK chart breakthrough in 2023 with viral hit Players, which also hit the top tier in my chart. It was outpeaked by David Guetta collaboration Baby Don't Hurt Me, but that's been and gone so Players has done a fine job to get this high up. Tate McRae has two tracks in this year's countdown, both of which peaked in the top 10, with exes being more of a grower than a shower. Benjamin and Alyssa Reid also have two songs in this year's countdown, but both top out in this section. Benjamin's Hoida mut was a Eurovision contender, and while it didn't end up in the contest itself, it did become his first top 10 in my chart since 2017. Alyssa Reid channelled LF SYSTEM's Afraid to Feel with her bop Die for Love, a surprising direction for her but it really works. Jacob Sartorius' highest track, the irresistible Cowboys, is just one section above his first appearance.

Another Sugababes song falls out, with the sublime I Lay Down spending a couple of weeks in my top 10 at the start of the year. They have just three songs left, two of which are from The Lost Tapes. Powfu also loses another, this time being the lead single from his Flooding the Gates EP, a collaborative project with Ouse and Snøw. It was the first hit for the latter, and all three of them have another song together still to feature. ILLENIUM scored his highest peaking song to date, enlisting Avril Lavigne for a top 10 hit in Eyes Wide Shut. It hit its peak after I saw Avril live, though it wasn't actually on her setlist. Finally, Noa Kirel delivered a Eurovision anthem with the fabulous Unicorn, and Kesha makes her only appearance this year with the brilliant Eat the Acid, a deep, intense track which really peaks in its final 60 seconds or so.

my faves from the most recent sections:

231 David Guetta, Anne-Marie & Coi Leray - Baby Don't Hurt Me

236 Lady Gaga - Bloody Mary

238 Kenya Grace - Strangers

225 Bizarrap & Shakira - Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53

226 Alessandra - Queen of Kings

213 Leigh-Anne feat. Ayra Starr - My Love -> this deserved a bit more than what it got, the sound suited her more than Don't Say Love

203 Dua Lipa - Dance the Night

182 Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana -> yayy! this will appear a lot higher for me unsurprisingly, what a tune.

180 Nicki Minaj - Pink Friday Girls -> this may well be Nicki's best in a while, quite a fun song here albeit very much helped by sampling one of my fave 80s pop hits

160 Coi Leray - Players
