The moderators have asked me to extend this deadline by 5 days so you now have until Tuesday 9th January 2024 to send an entry if you have not done so.

 

We need more submissions for this contest to go ahead or it will be cancelled.

I don't know AMYTHIN about musicals, let alone any that got made into movies, except for Mamma!! Or Mia??
The only entry I could do is from a movie made into a musical, a reverse polarity of sorts
Send it to Awardinary and if he's unsure on whether to accept it, he can drop me a PM. (It's his contest, so I don't want to control whether he accepts certain songs or not, too much)

Have you posted in the lounge promo thread? I don't tend to post a lot in here and only clocked the contest bc of your post in the bjsc spin offs thread so it might be worth sharing elsewhere if you haven't already, I did message a few people to let them know as well so hopefully we can get those confirmations

I did indeed. I’ll make one last shoutout for any more confirmations but none have come in and we are still at just 12 entries.

I'd expand the theme - make it movies AND musicals and nothing about it beifn a movie turned into a musical.
I've brainstormed but I can't think of anything at all that fits the prompt! Am I misunderstanding it? A song from a musical movie?
My interpretation was "songs like We Don't Talk About Bruno, This Is Me, and How Far I'll Go, except they didn't peak at Top 20."

I had same trouble, so I sent something drom a broader stage musicals or movie musical songs theme

So the theme was intended to be as broad as it could be for such a contest… that means any song from a musical or a movie that was made into a musical, as long as it fits the requirements and hasn’t charted in the UK, is eligible. Of the entries received so far, many are from movies you would immediately identify as a musical because of the number of songs that are featured or performed during the movie. They can be modern takes on the theme or ancient classics. Either way, I wanted to showcase a variety of sounds within the theme.

There's loads of films that have been made into musicals as well, Shrek, The Lion King etc then you've got classics like Grease, Hairspray, Footloose etc plus every Disney film ever is technically a musical, animated and live action there's genuinely so many options you could go with!
