Last week's chart-topper - "Nowhere To Run" by Kings Of Leon - has gone out of the chart. It's replaced at the top by "Lunch", which is the sixth number 1 of Billie Eilish after "Bad Guy", "Therefore I Am", "Your Power", "NDA" and "What Was I Made For?".

"Too Sweet" climbs to number 2 and becomes Hozier's joint highest-peaking song in the chart. Before that "Take Me To Church" also peaked at number 2 at the beginning of 2015.

And it's good to see "Overdrive" by Ofenbach finally debut (at number 16) as this is a song which did well in various European countries' charts... even if that happened several months ago! In such cases, better late than never!

Eminem's "Houdini" probably isn't the first song with this title to reach number 1. During the chart of December 16, 2023 MTV Europe repeated the previous week's chart but Dua Lipa's "Houdini" was at the top in the corresponding edition of the chart broadcast on MTV Hits.

But which was Eminem's previous chart-topper? I only started watching the "current" European chart broadcast on MTV Europe in February 2014 - but it seems like the chart started being broadcast from the very beginning of that year. As I have mentioned, the upper part of this chart was basically the same as the "Euro Top 20" chart broadcast on MTV Italy. And in MTV Italy's chart "The Monster" by Eminem and Rihanna scored a week at the top in January 2014.

Eminem has also had six other number ones (in the previous, "classic" European chart broadcast on MTV Europe) - "The Real Slim Shady", "Stan" (with Dido), "Without Me", "Lose Yourself", "Like Toy Soldiers" and "Love The Way You Lie" (again with Rihanna).

Last week's chart-topper - "Six Feet Deep" by The Warning - has gone out of the chart. It's replaced at the top by Jordan Adetunji's "Kehlani". While there have been nonbinary artists who have reached number 1, I think this is the first time when a nonbinary artist is mentioned in the title of a chart-topper. Otherwise, Kehlani themself has appeared in the chart with the following songs (all of them - collaborations): "Good Life" (with G-Eazy), "Faking It" (with Calvin Harris) and "Done For Me" (with Charlie Puth).

It's also remarkable that "Gata Only" finally debuts at number 3! This is actually a song which is doing well around Europe so it's good to see it here - even if later than it should have appeared...
