February 12, 20241 yr Oh wow! Was not expecting Mitski, Beyonce and potentially Lana to all release country influenced material in a year! Anyway, I'll give this a listen...
February 12, 20241 yr Ooh I’m up for this, Daddy Lessons was absolutely brilliant and I’ve always thought she would be good going country!! Texas Hold ‘Em is great, 16 Carriages is decent, good start for this album. It will be an absolute serve if she has an angry rock track like Don’t Hurt Yourself with country tinges as well!!

When Renaissance was first teased I didn't believe the rumours of it being a multiple-act project where Beyoncé reclaims and explores dance, country and rock music over three albums... but here we are. I can't believe it.

February 12, 20241 yr Author Fun fact: Like most music genres, country music was actually invented by black people.
February 12, 20241 yr Fun fact: Like most music genres, country music was actually invented by black people. Partially, yes - but it's not something that can be tied down to one starting point though. The British Country Association states that "The origins of country music trace back to the pioneers from the British Isles who settled in the eastern American Appalachian mountain range. The genre, first known as Hillbilly music, emerged as a fusion of the ballads and folk songs of the English, fiddle and dance music of the Scots-Irish with the banjo and blues influence of African Americans." But it's certainly a shame that the latter part of that statement doesn't seem to get much recognition!
