Artemas doing this well is a win in a way too even if it doesn't go to #1. For something different sounding to be in the mix is fab.

Not against Hozier getting to #1 though. It's a great track!

Eat Your Young definitely deserved more looking back but I guess it helped lift Hozier back into public view at least. It had quite a modest chart run for a really strong song.

I agree with what Joseph said though about his style and sound coming way more into vogue in the last six months though. The charts feel like a different landscape to a year ago even, and a world away from the naffness of much of the second half of the 2010s.

love Hozier and looks like a dead cert for #1 next week

but don't think this will be able to stop Taylor when she releases at least on week 1

the new Taylor album is gonna make the biggest splash ever, even much bigger than Midnights

for what I read, Taylor has already 1 million pre-orders in the US on vinyl alone! this is gonna be huge

Hozier could hit 900k streams by the time Taylor drops

I mean he could; he could also collapse or Lisa Scott Lee could release a new song which becomes viral on TikTok and surges to Number 1

I really think you're right, being still number 36 on HHUK and to keep gain like that... it's big, not just another hit.

Yeh we always wondered when indie or rock music would return in the late 2010s and it seems that this current county-folk style is what’s come through and the record companies are jumping on it now with loads of Noah Kahan style artists being pushed into 2025!

Wonder why the Hozier has taken off so much this week and doubled its figures when as someone pointed out it’s at 36 on Haha?

Not sure it’ll be guaranteed to be 900k by the time Taylor’s out just because Stick Season had that type of ride but who knows.

I really hope this trend doesn't dominate the charts in the way some genres have done in the past. While it's nice to have a few more country-rock/folk songs in the chart a lot of the songs in that style heading for the chart are a bit rubbish. If we're going to have rock back in the chart. I'd much rather it be a heavier in tone than what's around at the minute with a lot frankly forgettable songs.

Depends what the record companies decide the market wants. I’d love if proper indie made a comeback and bands like The Snuts, Vampire Weekend and The Vaccines could score top 40 hits!
but it's tiktok that decides rather than the labels :)

Not for much longer given the government will likely stop them operating, following suit from the US.

Will be interesting to see what drives hits after that.

At this point HH is not making hits or R1 or whatever, it's all tiktok

It hasn't even been banned in the US yet, they've given TikTok's owner 6 months to sell it.

I'm so confused about Meghan Trainor's performance. Been Like This is #103 on Apple and #168 on Spotify but Top 40 in the midweeks?
