Nicole to join Urban tour

January 07, 2007 12:00

NICOLE Kidman will be at her troubled husband Keith Urban's side when he makes a spectacular comeback in Australia this year.

Grammy-winner Urban, 39, is planning a return to the spotlight and will start a world tour in his home country in April or May.

The country music idol is being treated for alcoholism.

Kidman's new role as her husband's tour support follows a spate of visits by glamour couples, including Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake and Beyonce Knowles with boyfriend Jay Z.

Beyonce Knowles was on boyfriend Jay Z's tour. Cameron Diaz stood side of stage at Justin Timberlake's show. Gwyneth Paltrow was in Coldplay's tour party.

Anna Kournikova made a grand entrance at Enrique Iglesias' gig.

And, according to comments Urban made two years ago, he needs strong support. Back then, Urban revealed he is easily tempted.

"It's bloody hard on tour not drinking,'' Urban told the Herald Sun.

"I found myself going offstage, getting to my tour bus, not hanging with anybody and feeling like, not a recluse, but a stuck up rock star.

"I'd be sitting on the bus twiddling my thumbs. It's not an easy environment to not drink.

"What I have discovered is: if I avoid liquor, I'm fine,'' Urban said.

Urban has battled cocaine and aclohol addictions in the past.

Last week, Urban returned to a Palm Springs, California, rehab clinic for what is said to be the last stage of his treatment.

Urban's impending addition to the tour calendar is a highlight of star-packed concert season.

Bob Dylan, Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Meat Loaf, Delta Goodrem and Justin Timberlake have told local promoters they intend to visit this year.

Promoters are keeping a keen, but cynical, eye on reports the 1980s supergroup The Police will reform for a 2007 tour.

Acts already confirmed for visits include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, Little Britain Live, Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters and Eric Clapton.

Crosby Stills and Nash, America, Il Divo, Dave Matthews Band, Westlife, Evanescence, Scissor Sisters, Tenacious D and Supernova will also perform soon.

sounds like delta wants to tour this year in Australia. i am guessing later in the year and it would be a third album tour. this would also help sales. :yahoo: i hope she does. and then takes it to europe
oo great, hopefully it will come to the uk and Little Britain Live ... will australians understand the humour? alot of it is about uk life,... well almost all of it

She better come here lol!! Even if its just small theatres!! Delta you need to tour!! I'll have a massive tantrum otherwise  :P [not a pretty site]

Love,

Kirsty xx

yeah i guess lol!

the 2 fat ladies are gross :puke2:

I can't stand Little Britain but hey.

Delta better tour UK within the next 18 months.

I think it would be fairer if she toured here before she tours Australia again!! And plus the longer she leaves things here, the harder it will be for her!! -_-

Love,

Kirsty xx

I *really* hope she comes over here ... even small theatres I've love, and there'd be a great chance of meeting her afterwards *realises that's selfish but I've love to!*

The more intimate the gigs are, imo the more people will like her and because she's not a huge star ... its the perfect thing .. just like a band going round touring thats the way you build a fanbase ... and that would be perfect for Delta ... she wants to seperate herself as much as possible from being just known as Brian's gf and make it all about her music. I don't think her music is mean't for huge arenas and stadiums [of course she has anthemic songs that sound better in such venues] but generally I feel her music would much better suit smaller venues!! You can also read your audience better in small venues I should think!!

I will be happy with stadium/arena/local theatre even a pub :P Just as long as she starts performing and taking her music to people.

Love,

Kirsty xx

I agree, initimate gigs are a million times better than huge arena gigs. I've passed on seeing loads of artists that I'd quite like to see just because I don't really feel a connection, as you said, in an arena.

Well a lot of people at the management for Delta in the UK kept saying (a year or so ago) that they would announce a tour 'anyday soon' and we're still waiting.

I'd love a Delta tour obviously, it'd be amazing to have her perform over here but I'm just not sure when or if it will happen. She's been away from the UK market so long now that she needs something to pull her back in!

She was meant to do a tour last year, or at least so she said.

It's v. annoying, I hope we get one around the release of the next album.

*prays*

and I agree the smaller the venues the better!!
