Someone needs to do a full list of all the references and ideas in the Doomsday Blue staging. I'm sure I'm missing some of them.

Just Eurovision.

Tell us what you like about Flying the Flag.

2015: Sweden

Forgive me for my sins :(

2016: Iceland

Still a big :???: at how this NQed. Staging is much better than R*ssia if we're talking about similarity.

2017: Azerbaijan

2017 is not a good year for staging but this stands out from the pack.

2018: Cyprus

The lack of LED background really stifles the artistic vision of many but Cyprus served us with fiery dance moves.

2019: Australia

This is all sorts of WOWWWWWWW with the perfect execution of some epic background chroma keying into green screen (or not? idk x). The transition into the live stage is seamless. Greece 2021 tried to imitate it but wasn't as well-received. :kink:

2021: France

This is simple staging done perfectly in the era of glamorous staging. The camera movement, the lighting, the stage smoke, the outfit, periodT.

2022: Spain

Cyprus back in 2018 is already revolutionary but this takes it up a notch. The dance routine is insane and it really elevates the entire song.

2023: Sweden

The artistic vision in this one is truly astounding. I love the many references here including the runes. The colour scheme fits the entry so well. The panini press has never been done before.

2024: Ireland

I thought the Madrid pre-party camera angles would be hard to beat but this one is truly phenomenal. I love the theme and the nod to Irish paganism. There are so many references which would be worth an entire video of deciphering. I love that how people just put "Satanism" label on anything that is remotely pagan which shows their hypocrisy of wanting a "traditional" lifestyle. :kink:

It's catchy and memorable, there are not many performances (not songs), which I can remember many years after.

For me is a big mystery how they finished so low in that very week year. I still feel a winners spirit in "Flying The Flag (For You)".

Neighbours voting of South and Eastern Europe ruined ESC 2007. The highest "Western" country was Latvia on 16th (!!!) place.

The staging for "Zero Gravity" was flawless, I'm surprised that it didn't score better with the juries. Looking back, how did it not landslide the jury vote in the manner that "The Code" did this year?

"Hold Me Closer" had perfect staging at Melodifestivalen. Wasn't quite as tight at Eurovision, cheers Italy.

I've always thought this had excellent lighting and use of pyro. It was one of my favourites pre-contest, but the live elevated it further and I believe that 2010 had the perfect top 2, with the best song winning and the best staging being runner-up.

Bambie Thug will go down as one of the best, but we shouldn't overlook Ukraine this year. Putting the face of an artist up on an LED screen has never worked well before, but Jerry Heil did *that*.

"Hold Me Closer" had perfect staging at Melodifestivalen. Wasn't quite as tight at Eurovision, cheers Italy.

I blame the dirty floor!!

It's so funny to see those 2 in the op match the 2 I would say are the 'best' of all time.

An underrated one that I think deserves a mention is Georgia 2010!

I'd forgotten about Azerbaijan 2017. Loved that too.

I can't say I am a huge fan of The Tower.
