Maybe I will do the updated all-time top 100 Eurovision songs in the end of 2024 year, but it's mostly about minor changes in comparison with 2019 version. So now we can deep into the beautiful world of national pre-selections.

I always wanted to compile top list for my adorable Lithuania and their iconic national pre-selection for Eurovision, which had over 40 songs in some years. You can't be true hardcore Eurovision fan without the following of Lithuanian pre-selection. Maybe one day my dream will come true, but for the first NF countdown I selected Swedish mainstream. Melodifestivalen is the most loved national pre-selection in ESC fans community and big enough if we talk about the number of songs.

Everybody on Buzzjack is very familiar with my preferences in music, so you are ready to see and listen blonde female singers, non-English language songs, schlager, (outdated) old-fashioned music. But in summary this countdown is less predictable than my Eurovision top was with the exception of winner.

For me 10/10 song is "screaming winner", which is obvious # 1 in this countdown for everybody, who know my musical (and not only musical) preferences. But there is one thing, possibly only some Buzzjackers (old Melodifestivalen followers) are familiar with that performance and song.

Top 60 Melodifestivalen songs (by rate) :

10 - 1 song

9.0 - 5 songs

8.5 - 7 songs

8.0 - 7 songs

7.5 - 20 songs

7.0 - 20 songs

Love how interesting/varied your chart is - definitely some 'new' discoveries for me here :)!

Before the start of main countdown there are three songs in a special mentions part.

Special mentions : Krista Siegfrids - Snurra Min Jord (2017)

From last 25 years only one my Melodifestivalen favourite was lucky enough to be the winner with 6/10 song, which is not enough for top 60. I love Krista, she is a beautiful and lovely person, singer and mom. Sadly her Melfest entries weren't so good as "Marry Me", "Seventeen" and UMK 2020 performance "6 On Parempi Kuin 1" (I even charted it). Her 2016 song "Faller" was weaker and got only 5/10.

The rest 24 Melodifestivalen contests had at least one song in top 60, which is better result than Eurovision had.

Special mentions : Elisa Lindstrom - Forever Yours (2024)

There were only two possible choices in this year. Elisa's song is OK, but worse than her two previous attempts. So I selected the most iconic Melfest 2024 entry for top 60.

Special mentions : Velvet - Queen (2009)

It's very rare thing, but sometimes I can change my opinion about the song many years after the first listening. Not drastically, but can decrease or increase the rate on 1-1.5 point. In 2012 year "Queen" was my favourite from MF 2009 with 8/10, now her rate is 6.5/10. Melodifestivalen performance have a strong influence on this ranking. In 2024 year I stil like cute lyrics, but don't like a staging.

Sommarkrysset performance was amazing and she looks like Diana Vickers. She easily could hit top 40 with it in this countdown.

Sommarkrysset rate - 7.5 / 10

60. Jessica Andersson - Can't Hurt Me Now (2015)

Rate - 7/10

There is a small connection between 2015 and 2017 years. Due to low competition I had a week winner and ESC fans favourite finished on the last place in my rankings.

59. Cookies 'N' Beans - What If (2009)

Rate - 7/10

Wonderful Lithuanian music scene changed my vision on other girl groups, so I became more stricter when try to rate their music material.

57. Ellen Benediktson and Simon Peyron - Surface (2020)

Rate - 7/10

"Last minute" entry in top 60, because I upgraded the song rate from the original 6/10 in 2020 year. It's the first from seven female / male duets in this countdown.

55. Gunilla Persson - I Won't Shake (La La Gunilla) (2024)

Rate - 7/10

The highlight of Melodifestivalen 2024 !!! Based on Youtube views (1,2 million) "I Won't Shake (La La Gunilla)" is 4th in this year, only behind M&M, Medina, Froken Snusk.

Why she didn't wear something in a cowboy style ? But the performance was cool, even without it.

54. Katrina and the Nameless - As If Tomorrow Will Never Come (2005)

Rate - 7/10

Before some Swedish Eurovision participants we meet Katrina Leskanich, who brought the last win for United Kingdom almost 30 years ago.

Possibly it's a big surprise, if you are not very familiar with 2000s Melodifestivalen history.

57. Ellen Benediktson and Simon Peyron - Surface (2020)

I really like this one and think it's quite underrated amongst fans. Was happy that it made Andra Chansen, felt like the right kind of result.

Hope we see more of Jessica Andersson in this countdown, "Party Voice" at the very least! Also hoping Timoteij can do well as they tick the boxes of blonde, girl group and non-English language.

Possibly I was in a bad mood due awful 2020 Eurovision lineup, when listened Melfest. But after the relistening in 2024 year I found three good songs from Melodifestivalen 2020 instead only one in past.

There are over 20 songs on Swedish language in top 60.

51. Clara Klingenstrom - Behöver Inte Dig Idag (2021)

Rate - 7/10

My 2nd favourite from Melodifestivalen 2021 and the first of many Swedish language songs in this countdown.

50. Pernilla Andersson - Mitt Guld (2016)

Rate - 7/10

I confused with three different Andersson singers, it's fun to have them all in one chart and Andreassen too.

51. Clara Klingenstrom - Behöver Inte Dig Idag (2021)

Rate - 7/10

My 2nd favourite from Melodifestivalen 2021 and the first of many Swedish language songs in this countdown.

Amazing song  I don't think her entry this year was as good, but still a shock that she didn't even make AC.

Considering that Tusse achieved a poor result by Swedish standards, they really should've taken the opportunity to send something in the Swedish language.

Behöver Inte Dig Idag followed by Hold Me Closer and Tattoo could have been quite the trio. All 10/10 for me.

Voices was a waste of an entry imo.
