According to some reports X-Factor producers are worried that the run of illnesses which have plagued the contestants have been caused by a diet of junk food and takeaways etc and they've banned them from eating those this week.

 

Just as well the public didn't vote Darius out of PI early then!

 

He not only entertained on Saturdays but also safeguarded the health and well-being of his fellow competitors by taking responsibility for cooking decent meals for them.

I've not watched anything since the first Pop idol. They had really talented people on that one. I don't think any of the following ones could hold a candle to the last 10 on PI 1

Sometimes I'll dig out the PI tour video and all ten of those kids can sing and entertain and they were so friendly and they all had real personality. It's the personality I find missing from this year's X-Factor contestants.

 

Leona, Simon's favourite, for me, is the one most devoid of spark and personality.

 

Ben, the token rocker, seems like a nice guy but seems to think he's got to be serious because he's a rocker.

 

The MacDonald Brothers are just nice but don't have charisma.

 

Ray is an actor and to me, he is acting the part of the life and soul of the party,grinning all the time. Frankly he may be 18 or so but when I see him gyrating and doing Elvis or Ricky Martin moves as he did a couple of weeks ago, I just find it plain disturbing.

 

I wonder if the format of X Factor (splitting them into competing groups with different mentors) makes it more difficult for the contestants to bond friendships as were evident in PI.

 

I certainly have NOT found another idol this year.

have to agree about Leona, although her voice is one I do not like, she is a clone of mariah carey..and I cannot stand the high pitched warbling over egging the songs, mind you - as a rule I dont find womens voices very nice.ther are exceptions but the y are far and few.

 

as for Ray, LOL..every time I see him or he opens his mouth all I can hear is "I'll be your long haired lover from Liverpool" try as I might. he is like a little elf, looks about 12 his voice is like a little kids and yup..seeing him singing "grown up" songs and swiveling his hips or trying to look sexy is wrong on so many levels..errhh..shudders.

I've often wondered where the Darius/Amy Nuttal relationship, alleged and still referenced by parts of the media, stemmed from.

It was at the Tickled Pink breast cancer concert after party.Must have been Oct 2004 or 2005

Yet about ten days or so later they were wittering on about how Geri and Darius were so smitten and how they couldn't keep their eyes off each other at Tickled Pink.

 

Sometimes I wonder if tabloid journalists have really short memories and genuinely can't remember what they said/wrote a couple of days before.

I see what you mean. Amy's pose is very strange and the way the light is striking her skin, it has a kind of artificial,shiny look. ( She must have a very smooth complexion!)

 

I've never seen Darius look so lifeless. His eyes are staring into the distance and there's absolutely no sign that he's aware there is another human being anywhere near him.

 

They wouldn't look out of place in a shop window.

My thoughts are that amy probably wasnt with him. looks like two pictures perhaps fused together. They can do lots of things cant they, remember the girl in the group who said she was marrying him didnt they cut someone else out of that photo.

They cut the rest of her group out. From memory, they were a five piece successful Canadian group, the winners of the Canadian Popstars, I believe.

 

At one of the Party In The Park type gigs, someone asked Darius if this group could have a picture with him. He's an accommodating guy and duly stood in the midst of the group until the shutter clicked. That was that. He wouldn't have known it was a moment that was to come back and bite him hard.

 

It could have been straight up at that point - I don't know whether the group just liked him and wanted a picture to take home or if some PR person asked because he/she had the Popstars connection in mind.

Several months later the picture appeared in the papers but it had been cropped back to show just Darius and one of the girls who'd been standing beside him and accompanied by the announcement of his impending marriage after proposing on a romantic New Year holiday in Scotland.

 

I still don't know how the girl or her PR people thought they could get away with such a hoax. Who on earth would dream it up?

 

If they'd put their hands up and said it was just a laugh and apologised to Darius, it may have been enough to get them the publicity they were seeking but they didn't. Instead they kept on insisting the story was true and adding more and more detail, all fantasy, and made Darius look really bad when he vehemently denied it and in his frustration was impolite about the girl in question.
