After an Inconvenient Truth and what he said, I think we have to accept that it is highly unlikely that Darius will hop across the Atlantic at the drop of a hat to do one night things like this or NUTS.
He's still recording in London though but, I never expected him to do this as the album is his priority work wise and he knows he'll have spells away from it so I doubt he'll allow any interruptions he doesn't have to.
I see he has no mention again yet Brenda does. I just feel this is more than odd, he has been left out of so many mentions elsewhere. I suppose they didnt want him as they have Duncan. I would have made the effort if he was there.

Original Stars Reunite for Chicago's Tenth Birthday

Date: 13th September 2007

The West End production of Chicago will celebrate a “decade of decadence” with a special one-off charity gala performance reuniting the show’s original stars Ruthie Henshall, Henry Goodman and German Ute Lemper (pictured), who won a Best Actress in a Musical Olivier for her turn as Velma Kelly.

The performance, on 5 December 2007 at the Cambridge Theatre, will be held in aid of Breast Cancer Haven and the Breast Health Institute in the presence of the evening’s honorary patrons Elizabeth Hurley, Mr and Mrs Julian Kitchener-Fellowes and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Other stars who’ve appeared in the Kander and Ebb musical over the past ten years – including Denise Van Outen, Brenda Edwards, Jennifer Ellison, Duncan James and Frances Ruffelle will also take part.

This production of Chicago opened at the Cambridge Theatre (where the musical’s original London production ran for 603 performances from April 1979) on 28 April 2006, after eight-and-a-half years at the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand. To date, it has played to an audience of over 4.5 million people at more than 4,000 performances. Amongst its accolades are the 1998 Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Musical Production and the Critics' Circle Award for Best Musical.

Kander and Ebb’s 1975 musical is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins and has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The current stage revival, which transferred from Broadway, is directed by Walter Bobbie and designed by John Lee Beatty, with choreography by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse.

Chicago is produced in London by Broadway producers Barry and Fran Weissler, who are supporting the tenth birthday gala, sponsored by Gran Centenario. The special performance will commence at 6.30pm and will be followed by a black tie reception.

They had one for Broadway a couple of years ago.

I should have thought that other than the original London cast, Marti Pellow should have been first choice for past BF. Marti played the West End, Broadway and all over the world in touring productions of Chicago.

I think that Marti may be busy touring with Wet Wet Wet - I know they are appearing at Wembley in December, because I was thinking of going  Maybe he and Darius were asked but couldn't commit - we know what Darius is like for saying he 'might!!' be doing something!! :D

I think I read on WOS that marti pellow is going to be touring also in the Witches of Eastwick?
Full of witches and demons. It cold be worth seeing. Now, I'd like to see Darius in that - he'd do it really well.

The Witches of Eastwick tour is supposed to be in the latter half of 2008. I think Marti will be great in the Jack Nicholson role. I might be tempted to see it but only if it comes to Glasgow.

Although he's successfully played two parts which are normally played by older actors and he's charismatic and charming and can make that come over the footlights, Darius isn't debauched enough looking for a role like that.

I bet he already has. He's been to uni and at least one bender seems to be required. I think he could do arrogant really well. He made a really good Billy Flynn

Kelly osborne in chicago - firstr sort of review from a punter on WOS -

It wasn't as terrible as it was last year but they still have a long way to go to save the production. It looks a bit tighter, but kelly Osborne was just awful. She can't belt and she can't hold a note so it's ridiculous that she's playing Mama. Her lack of acting skills is also quite obvious. It always annoys me when someone as talentless gets a part in a show just for being a D list celebrity.

Rob

mm, mind you D got some bad reviews from people with agenda..although I am more likely to beleive this as I don't rate Kelly's singing, and she has never acted before..and after all we are talking "the Ozborne" connection for her getting the role IMO

I can see D doing Witches, although he isnt old enough, he has that wicked glint and would have that way about him that Nicholson had in the film - thinks of eyebrow ..LOL

I was quite impressed with Kelly's attitude when she was on TV. She seemed much more mature and confident.

I still think a 22 year old Mama Morton is all wrong, especially as she looks more like Velma in the promotional pics. I can't remember what her singing is like because I can't remember any of her songs apart from Changes.

The two songs which Kelly has to sing, require very different techniques. Brenda was brilliant at both. Musically, I preferred Brenda to Chrissie Hammond but Chrissie was a better all round performer.
