Thinking one player has that much impact is silly. Football is often about small margins and all the margins are against them at this point in time

There's loads of factors, Rodri is a massive one. However even before they Rodri injury they didn't look quite right. I do think the age and mileage in some of the players has an effect too, no denying a lot of theur key players are aging. Coupled with a Foden looking off form at the moment. The squad needs some surgery to it - mad how you think how many players they've let go from the youth team that they could have tried to integrate in the first team too. Selling Alvazrez in the summer was a mad moment, but most of their problems come down to Rodri, they look very weak in the transitions.

    This is actually hilarious

Wouldn't say it's silly at all, this isn't just one player, it's the Balon D'or winner. Clearly his long term absence has destabilised the whole team.

Just imagine how Liverpool would be doing without Salah or Chelsea without Palmer. In fact you said in an earlier post on here that Palmer could win Chelsea the league on his own.

Steve Cooper sacked by Leicester!

A Watford like sacking this one. He's only been there 11 games and there doing about as well as anyone thought they'd be doing...

This is what I'm thinking as well. I guess it's because he used to be the Nottingham Forest manager and they have a rivalry with Leicester due to being them both being in East Midlands. Leicester fans never wanted him as the manager in the first place.

I convinced myself it will be Graham Potter, hes been out for a while now and must be desperate to get back in the game.

Potter was holding out for England job. He already rejected a few teams last season, think Palace was one of them. But yeah with that door closed both him and Leicester could do a lot worse.

RVN deserves a bigger European job.

I think it's done for City now, 11 points is going to be too much to overcome. The blue and white ribbons will come off the Premier League trophy in May and Liverpool will actually get to lift it in front of fans in the stadium this time.
Man City’s last win was the 26th of October in ALL competitions

They are really vulnerable in transitions but still have the players to pick up points. Really reminds me a bit of the spell Liverpool went through in 2022-2023.

Well they haven’t picked up a point in a month. They still have a points deduction looming too so really the title gone but more interestingly too 4 might be a real struggle this season for them. I’m sure their form will pick up but they are not the same team at all

They will pick up points still, lost against Spurs (their bogey team), Liverpool (they have a terrible record at Anfield) and against a Brighton team in good form as well as Bournemouth who are good at home. They are clearly struggling in midfield and defensively and are in low confidence at the moment, but they will come through it. Can't see them missing Top 4 at all, ages to go yet.

They also got thrashed by Sporting and blew a three goal lead against Feyenoord. They have players back now and might get someone in January but even a modest points deduction puts them in real trouble now

Yeah City are absolutely dead in the water now, they don't have a single player playing well for them. You literally wonder where the next win is gonna from it's that bad! This is the first time Pep has had a situation like this in his entire managing career so how or even if he turns it around will be a fascinating follow.

The most ludicrous thing is they have an even worse goal difference than us in our worst ever Premier league season!

All part of the process though - they are in bad form and it does not look right, but Pep just needs to work it out. They are still mostly trying to play the same way with a midfield that can just not compete and control, and yes lots of players out of form. But they'll come back, there was a period in the game today where they took control, but Liverpool were good in their shape and they couldn't create anything. But the problem then is on the transition when the lose the ball.

There's no way Man City will not be in the top 4 and I think it's still likely that they will go on their annual end of season winning streak but to finish 1st the damage done now will be too severe.
I believe people have football PTSD with Man City. This isn’t the same team they are not going to do what they used to do. Sure technically they should still finish top 4 but right now they’re 2-3 levels below arsenal and Liverpool.

They are a machine and the machine is broken. If Pep fixes it, who knows. Right now that looks really unlikely. Outside of Pep’s first season, the only other team that’s truly broken the machine is the 2019-2020 Liverpool team. They are a level below at the moment but they’ve been her before too (in 2020-2021) albeit not as far behind. I think writing them off completely is too much, out of any team in the world they are the most robotic and machine like, so if they find the missing part, will be difficult to stop. They still have good players, they just can’t defend on the transition!

Let's not be naiive here, Man City are having a dip, people point to Rodri's injury being the reason, they will always try to find an excuse why it's happening, but this isn't going to be permanent. Haaland will find his shooting boots again soon and finish another season as the top scorer in the league. City are still going to win trophies this season, but it might not be the premier league and that's the most exciting part of the drama, it's not a given that they should win because of who they are or who their manager is. It shows that all teams have frailties but they will come back from this so don't celebrate too soon.

What trophies are they going to win? They’re out of the league cup. Doing terrible in the CL and miles behind in the Prem.

How do you fix Kyle Walker? He’s finished. What about Stones? Is Pep a chiropractor? De Bruyne belongs in Saudi at this point. I’m telling you it’s over
