He has to play a far more proactive style of football in this match.

I'd much rather watch the team attack and lose than sit through a repeat performance of the Denmark matches ultra-negative football.

I think we'll win but it'll be just as turgid as when we played them in the final group game of the 2010 World Cup. 1-0 grinding win.

Well, there is no easy fix. People think a few changes can do it but if two players get injured then your whole team is a mess? Shouldn't be the case. England have been terrible last 6-7 games so it’s hard to see how it's suddenly going to morph into the right formula. Luke Shaw looks miles away from being fit and Trippier is such a limited player at LB so maybe we need a 3-5-2 to get someone else over there.

Anyway Slovenia are average from 1 to 11 so there is no excuse for not taking a risk here., Hopefully Southgate stumbles upon something that works out of sheer luck

Exactly this, I think 1-0 or 2-1 England. Interested to see how Southgate reacts - Trent obviously gets dropped, although I don't think he is the problem..

The problem is glaringly obvious, but interested to see how Southgate reacts. If the once change is Mainoo/Gallagher for Trent then honestly, it's gonna be a long Tuesday night.

Sesko is one to watch up front, has the potential to go all the way to the top and obviously Oblak is their world class player!
Hopefully we won’t finish runner-up in our group. I don’t feel confident about an England v Germany scenario.

If we win, we've avoided France, Portugal, Spain and Germany until the final. So important to win the group now and avoid all of those.

It's looking likely that it will be Netherlands in the last 16 if we do top the group but it could still be the 3rd place team in Group E or F.

Willing to give Southgate the benefit of the doubt but dear God if we are turgid again this is all on him

I am expecting nothing and therefore I cannot be disappointed

he says almost entirely ready to jump ship to supporting the Germanic bloc

Saka scored, but it's already an offside.

This commentator needs sacking. Use Clive for England matches for crying out loud - it's not rocket science.

Anyway - the match itself has been rather underwhelming so far.

There is just nothing about this England team, no identity, no style of play, no ideas, just nothing. Its been like that awhile. They needed a last minute Bellingham goal to get a draw at home to Belgium. Lost at home to Brazil in a borefest. 1-1 with Macedonia. Lost at home to Iceland 0-1 just before the tournament started. It has been obvious this isn't working and he hasn't changed nothing. It’s just absurd, a random guy in a pub can see this isn't a team or style that can win a tournament but he has no Plan B or Plan C it's just the same over and over. Southgate literally had three years in club management and got Middlesborough relegated then got sacked and that's it. It’s frustrating because the right coach could play exciting high IQ football with these players.
Absolutely dreadful. I don't even know what we're trying to do or what we do in training as it's clearly not working the amount of mis placed passes. Doesn't take a genius to see our problem is we have no width on the left, any half decent team knows exactly what Trippier is going to do, so you just mark the right side out. Foden has been good, but our lack of width on the left really hurts us. Even when we play 1-2s, the players are in the way of each other or not on the same wavelength.
