Posted July 11, 20241 yr So it comes down to the Euro 2024 final which sees Spain appearing in their first final since 2012 and England appearing in their second Euros final in a row. After 58 years could it really be coming home for the England men's team or will Spain win their 4th Euros and first since 2012. The final will be taking place at the Olympiastadion, Berlin. This could be up there with some very high viewing figures. Live coverage will be simultaneously on BBC One and ITV. Who do you think will win between Spain and England?

July 11, 20241 yr To have any chance of winning England will have to play better than Spain on the day, individual "moments" will not be enough against this Spanish team. I think it will be quite a close match but I can't see Spain squandering this opportunity now after doing so well leading up to this point. The Henri Delaunay Trophy will be paraded through the streets of Madrid next Monday.
July 11, 20241 yr If we look at it man for man Unai Simón Vs Pickford - this is just even Carvajal Vs Walker - pretty even again Le Normand Vs Guehi - pretty even again really Stones vs Laporte - overall pretty even though pep preferred Stones Cucurella Vs Shaw - probably shaw but given the circumstances pretty even Rodri Vs Rice - Rodri is as good as you get but Rice isn’t a scrub Fabián Ruiz Vs Mainoo - I’m taking mainoo personally Dani Olmo Vs Bellingham - gotta be Jude Saka vs Yamal - this is probably even though Yamal has the potential to be a Messi Foden vs Nico Williams - hard to compare but Foden probably slightly superior in value Morata(if fit) vs Kane - you have to say Kane even if he looks a little off it In terms of the bench England far superior in my opinion Now obviously it’s a team game and Spain have looked a better team but there is not a gulf in quality here. There is about 6 players in the Spanish squad who were flops in the premier league. England have much better penalty takers too. I can see why Spain are favourites but if England turn up on the day they should win
July 11, 20241 yr Spain are a much better cohesive unit, especially in midfield, which is a massive weak point for us still. The Netherlands midfield is even weaker than ours, so was no surprise we dominated it for a large part. Southgate sets up to match oppositions, so not sure what he will do here. I think the only change will be Shaw starts for Trippier imo. We’ll finally have some balance though, so even if we’re defending compact and deep we should have an out ball or be able to stretch the opposition slightly. I’d expect Spain to start strongly, infact I actually think the worse thing we could do is score an early goal like the last final. It’s a one off game so anything can happen, Spain will dominate the ball but we’ve had so much luck, the body language across the players has completely changed since the Swiss game, that I just feel this is England’s year now.
July 12, 20241 yr I think Spain will win it they have played really well so far while we have been quite lucky to get to this point. I hope for england of course. Well done to the team for a second final in a row at least.
July 12, 20241 yr If Spain do win they'll have beaten every one of the other big 5 teams in one tournament (and without penalty shootouts) so it would be probably the most deserved win ever. Crazy that we haven't played them in any tournament since 1996 just like with the Netherlands!
July 12, 20241 yr I'm torn as I do believe Spain have played the best all tournament and deserve to win, but y'know, they've won twice already this century alone so it would be wonderful if history could be made, even if it's extra time/penalties that gives us a fluke win x I do think we have a solid chance as long as we can build on the progress we made in the Netherlands game, will be crazy looking back at the narrative of this tournament if we do win when it was most likely we'd lose at the round of 16!
July 12, 20241 yr Yeah for how close England were to being eliminated the Jude Bellingham overhead kick would become legendary if England were to win the final. Maybe a knighthood for Gareth Southgate also? Even if England don't win on Sunday they will eventually win a tournament, it's just a matter of whether we'll be alive to see it  Spanish people would have had similar emotions before the late 2000's. They were always called underachievers and didn't win anything for 44 years before winning 3 in a row so there is hope for England.

If England win, half the team probably get Knighthoods, but Southgate definitely. Think if Spain win, they will be remember for being the best side in a largely average tournament and if England win, we will be up there with Greece and Portugal
July 14, 20241 yr Author Going for a 3-1 win to Spain, hope I'm proved wrong but I can't see that happening.
July 14, 20241 yr Going for a 3-1 win to Spain, hope I'm proved wrong but I can't see that happening. I think the same as you really, though I reckon 3-2 might happen.
July 14, 20241 yr I really think England are going to get found out against Spain. 4-0 or 5-0 to La Roja.
July 14, 20241 yr Comfortable Spanish win hopefully. England have been terrible in the competition and only really started to show up against the Swiss and the Dutch. Spain have been brilliant throughout the whole tournament. Predicting a 3-1 Spain win
July 14, 20241 yr Comfortable Spanish win hopefully. England have been terrible in the competition and only really started to show up against the Swiss and the Dutch. Spain have been brilliant throughout the whole tournament. Predicting a 3-1 Spain win so terrible that we’re in the final  I never understand how when it comes to England people will do anything to discredit the side’s achievements even when we go further in the tournament than 22 other sides (and the ‘easy draw’ argument is a cop out)
July 14, 20241 yr I mean if it wasn’t for a wonder strike from Bellingham in the last minute they would have been out in the round of 16 and deservedly so IMO. Fair enough they were a lot better against the Swiss and Dutch but prior to that yeah I still stand by my point they were terrible.
July 14, 20241 yr Even if we win tonight there'll be plenty of people who would rather spend more energy on complaining that we didn't deserve it than enjoying the victory but it is what it is.
July 14, 20241 yr One interesting thing - if we do win and Argentina win the Copa we could see the first England v Argentina match since 2005 played next year. Edited July 14, 20241 yr by DoBelieveTheHype
