'Tear Run Dry' and 'Now Or Never'.......but a very difficult choice  once I've removed the remixes! I'm not a fan of them I'm afraid!
As I never buy singles, I didn't know any of D's B Sides until 2 lovely people made me B Sides CDs. My ultimate favourite is Faith in Me- really, really uplifting.

I'm still doing these polls :D

I've taken a bit of time away to listen to/do Baytree's covers polls and come back to this now :)

For the Dive In era, I suppose it was always going to be between Tear Run Dry and Fragile for me, I love Don't forget to breathe too - but those two just really capture my attention and imagination when I hear them - but how to choose just one when I feel each song is really good for different reasons. With Fragile, I love the atmospheric music - it has a sinister quality which captures and adds to the essense of the lyrics, I love the creativity of the lyrics too; but I equally love the simplicity, sense intimacy and emotion conveyed in Tear Run Dry - it makes me feel like I just want to jump into the CD and hug him  - I love them both! ... I've decided to vote for Fragile, purely because more people have mentioned Tear Run Dry already and I don't want to leave Fragile out :P :D

Not done the Live Twice ones yet

edit: It won't let me vote for just Fragile - I need to vote in both at the same time I think ... now I'll have to decide on the Live Twice one as well then :P

Just remembered that when BJ disappeared - this is what I was in the middle of doing - done it now - after much deliberation I've chosen Big Feather Bed and now I can see what other people have voted for too :)

I am surprised at the clear leader in the Dive In section :o For me it's a little mean and moody, but it's obviously popular out there :)

It was no surprise to me, it was very popular with a lot of people when it was released too - many of whom aren't around/posting now - it was in poll position for favourite Darius song including A-sides over on Devotees during the Dive In era too. I absolutely adore it and always have, but I also adore Fragile and I had to vote for just one, I chose Fragile, because I knew more other people would have voted for my other favourite - Tear Run Dry anyway ;) :D

I don't really understand what you mean by "mean" and although it's very heartfelt and poignant emotionally, I don't find it "moody" either, those terms suggest 'depressing' to me and I don't get a 'depressing' sense from Tear Run Dry. I get a sense of regret, a sense of desperation, frustration and urgency and most of all, utter determination from both the lyrics and from how Darius sings/expressed the lyrics. It just seemed to capture the essense of how Darius may have felt about his career journey following PopStars to me - so maybe I just get a different impression from the song because of how I interpret the meaning of the song - to me it just captured what was to me, the very essense of Darius at the time :)

I did get a copy of this on the single I bought, but it never held much interest to me, and with the horrible 8 Jam remix of colourblind on there too, I just didn't play this disc very often. Probably a factor, as the more I hear one of D's songs, usually the more I like it :)

I was just being a little lazy with my words. I described in another thread, how TRD had a melancholic feel to it which sort of brought me down somewhat. I am all for emotive and meaningfull songs and lyrics, this one just never really drew me in I am afraid.

No, the 8-Jam doesn't do it for me either - I never listen to that. The Almighty re-mix is better, but that's not a favourite of mine, so I don't listen to that much either. It is a pain, listening to single CD's anyway, I don't tend to play the originals very often at all - but in the past, I taped all the tracks (apart from the re-mixes) and would listen to them that way, I'd just add on, or make new tapes as more songs were released and found that with more listens, I used to change my mind about the songs I liked best - I still do really, all depends on your own mood at the time and what you're listening for as well I think. But with them loaded on the PC now - it's much easier to listen to whatever I want, in any order I want  I don't get the melancholic feeling you do from Tear Run Dry though, it's sad in someways, but the feeling of Darius's determination overrides the sadness for me :)

As I haven't listened to this song much at all, do you know exactly what it is about? As I said, I have it at home but just never really gave it much of a chance!

Stick it on your PC - give it a few go's mixed in with all your others and see what you think then, then :D

No, I don't know exactly what it's about - in the sense that I've never heard Darius talk about what the song actually means to him/what he wrote it about. On the surface it sounds like a song written about a personal relationship, but my own personal interpretation of it, is what I said above, I relate it to how I think Darius may have felt following his experience on and resulting from PopStars and what he was hoping for from the future ... but we all place our own meanings on songs - even some songs that I know Darius has said were about somethings, I still see as having also maybe been about something else too :)

I'm sure you've seen the lyrics already - but these are they :D

Lost at sea

Drifting wreck

Ease my fear

We move closer

Warm breath on my neck

Trace waves on your shoulder

But I dreamt this before

You left me on the ocean floor

No call for help

But baby I'm reaching

Is the message in the bottle

Gonna break upon your shore

If I have to hold my breath

And I can wait

But I want more

If only you knew

Like a tear run dry

I can taste you now

A memory on my lips

Well I touched you once

And I know somehow

I'll reach you beyond a kiss

Back and forth

Lapping tide

Your moist breath

And I'm drowning

Lost you

I've lost time

In the ocean that found me

Was it all in my mind

Summers rain left behind

No call for help

But baby I'm reaching

Is the message in the bottle

Gonna break upon your shore

If I have to hold my breath

And I can wait

But I want more

If only you knew

Like a tear run dry

I can taste you now

A memory on my lips

Well I touched you once

And I know somehow

I'll reach you beyond a kiss

I, wanna share the way

That you're rushing through my veins

I, wanna reach to you

Let you know that I have changed

Oh, if only you knew

Like a tear run dry

I can taste you now

A memory on my lips

Well I touched you once

And I know somehow

One of these days

I'll touch you beyond a kiss

Oh, oh, I can taste you now

Oh, memory on my lips

Well I touched you once

And I know somehow

I'll reach you beyond a kiss

Thanks for that SS :) I will listen to it when I get a few minutes. There are one or two others I could listen to, which don't get much of an airing. That's part of the problem with cd's here and there. I suppose I will just have to knuckle down and get them on my poota at home :)
