It's a 10th week on top for New London Boy, still holding off all-comers, not least both Detroit Spinners classics, neither of them getting higher than 2 so far, but Could It Be I'm falling In Love is now a "million-seller" with combined totals, as is Ben Hemsley on one run never peaking higher than 3, both of them entered my all-time top 1000 chart as New London Boy is headed for the top 100. So why such a long run? It's very rare for me, no new record has been on top that long in one run since Knowing Me Knowing You in 1977, but the album track just keeps on charming me with the lyrics, bitter-sweet identifying with them on my part, the killer melody, and the added sax all just still works for me.

 

The highest new entry is former number one Angel Of The Morning at 5, Juice Newton's 1982 hit was even bigger when the first Deadpool came out, and is now back again as the third Deadpool movie explodes in cinemas, with top lols and star turns. Total "sales" of this record aren't far off one million either, in my charts. Talking of Deadpool & Wolverine, Actor/showman Jimmy Durante gets his 3rd posthumous chart entry 30 years on from the last one, I'll Be Seeing You works beautifully in the movie and Jimmy was a fave of my family when I was a kiddie. Jimmy never could sing as such, but he really managed to convey class and emotion somehow. Other soundtrack oldies back lower down, from *NSYNC and Madonna.

 

Tom Odell and Lost Frequencies are both adding to their years of charting, this time together on a great new record Black Friday, that's a 5th headline chart entry for L.F. in 9 years and an 8th for Tom Odell in 11 years. Alison Goldfrapp keeps up her recent run of disco-flavoured new songs with I Wanna Be Loved at 72, extending her run of hits to 21 years. Paul Heaton grabs his first-ever solo entry with the very Happy Togther-sounding melody on Fish 'n' Chip Supper, whimsical fun now spanning an amazing 38 years since The Housemartins debuted.

 

In the bottom end, Martin Garrix follows-up his 2nd chart-topper with added Carolina Liar, Primal Scream also keep the comeback going, Kasabian follow-up their number one too, and Nancy Sinatra pops in with a mid-60's oldie that has never charted, being as it pre-dates my charts, and I just bought it, so in comes Sorry Bout That. A bit Boots'-ie, which is totally fine given Beyonce just did that with Ya Ya.

OOps sorry Please Please dropped a bit this week, still sounds good though :o :D Hooray at Espresso charting for you though, the gift that keeps on giving in Summer 2024, still not bored with it. :cheer: Bar Song may yet get a comeback when I got to Florida if I hear a lot on car radio over there, I usually get re-entries from recent biggies :) My Oh My climbing though, so at least I will chart it even if the UK doesnt bovver streaming it. Jade is good, love the intro :lol: , but I need to hear it a bit more..
